[cite]Posted By: Chirpy Red[/cite]I'm asking. I'm still asking. I think I will still be asking before Darren Bent ever plays another game at The Valley.
I cannot be botherered to search but I think you will find that it is rather well documented on here that I never rated Darren Bent. Still don't.
Darren Bent V Parker or Defoe? Get real fella.
As I said earlier, typical Charlton.
Bent scores more goals than Defoe, playing for a worse team, and scoring against better teams. What's not to rate?
A few years ago i was toying with starting a fanzine and was going to have a few different comic strips. One of them would have been centred on Radostin Littlechef, a clumsy, hapless European chef who would run around the kitchen at 100mph and cock everything up and break everything along the way.
Loved Kish. Probably loved him more for his limitations.
Kish was a player who made loads of mistakes. Yet never once did he ever go hiding and always come back for more.
On the pitch, he had a tremendous attitude, and was an excellent servant of our club.
Proper Charlton player who made the most of his ability and never hid if things didn't go well. Rather like Curbs in some ways you don't know what you had until its gone.
He will get warm applause from me at every opportunity.
I think it's worth pointing out that Kish also did some very good things in his time with us, other than just work hard. He's was no midfield maestro but he was more than just a clumsy player who got by on work-rate - no-one can make 200 appearances for a relatively successful top-flight side purely on work rate. My fondest memory was his persistent kicking of Ronaldo vs Man Utd, I know it was partly because Ronaldo was just too quick for him and Kish couldn't really get near the ball but he kept at him all day long and made sure Ronaldo knew he'd been in a proper match that day - that was Kish all over.
It'll be great to see him back and you just know one of those often-tried-never-successful 40 yard rockets is top-corner bound as we speak!
EDIT: and the best way to welcome him back would surely be for BDL to announce his name RRRAAAAAAADDOSTIIIIIN KISHISHEEEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVV!!!! Followed by a cheer and a warm round of applause. The we can all get on with hoping he has to resort the same sort of tactics vs Reidy as he did vas Ronaldo all those years ago.
He was also always in the running to be Captain of his national side and whilst i accept that Bulgaria aren't that much better than England, it's still quite impressive!
Might have made loads of mistakes, but also did loads of good things. His energy helped others more talented find space.
Stark contrast to Amdy Faye. Kish had to prove himself for rewards. Faye somehow got bought by Newcastle, and the Newcastle fans after a while thought he was one of their worst players in the Prem; that is saying something when you include the Croats and Andreas Andersson. When Faye played he had maybe one good match at center half. When Faye played he looked like the perfect shape/fitness for a footballer but never seemed to get anywhere near the ball to actually do anything. Tottenham away, I don't think I've ever seen a player fall over so much BEFORE he could make a tackle. If Venables sells you to Souness they you ain't worth a penny.
Kish was a hero who earnt his money. Faye was a disgrace to the game, and something we should remember when judging Kish's weaknesses.

I like the way you put that ;-)
And 90 plus caps, if I remember rightly, going back to Euro 96 where I first saw him (and met him).
ColinTat: well said too.
My Bulgarian mate in Toronto, and helped us to secure him, will be on line with me this afternoon. he's in touch with Kish and promises that later this week he'll have some 'post-match reaction'. Hopefully he'll have his tail between his legs after losing. Give him a pre match cheer from me too, though

I think he scored one of those shots once, a friendly in China. So unfortunately most fans never saw it!
For all of his weakneses I think everyone would take him over Faye. Always thought Faye was dreadful on the ball in almost every way, Kish at least played the occasional good pass or even showed the odd bit of skill.
I'm sure I remember reading Kish originally went on trial with Arsenal and Wenger told him he was a good player.
He definitely was supposed to have a trial with West Ham, but he was injured at the time. Arry discovered this and he was left in a Swallow hotel somewhere to find his own way back to Bulgaria. Bob Whitehand by that time was onto him, but didnt make any move while he was crocked (quite reasonably). I think that was one year before we finally signed him. I dont remember the Arsenal trial, but I'll ask Vasco, who is a mad Arsenal fan.

It's true. I was one of the few Charlton fans there.
Thought he dictated the game today, helped by the fact nobody was assigned to close him down and cut out all the space and time he had on the ball. Just a shame he wasn't doing it in a red shirt
Kish was excellent. He kept their midfield ticking over with quick passing and allowed their full backs to play high by dropping back into a a defensive 3 when neccessary.
Alas I agree with Len - he made our midfield look non existant. He wasn't good enough for us in the Premiership (IMHO), however Division 3, against us, a class apart!
A round of applause when BDL read his name out and a further round of applause afterwards when approaching the tunnel from those of us who stuck with it to the bitter end!

Well Darren Bent is every bit as talented as Parker and Defoe, but will get an excellent reception when he returns.
So ask yourself why.....

I expect there to be some bruises following that little clash. Semedo I think would win out though, younger and stronger would give him the edge.

Wouldlike to disagree with you, but I can't
You're consistant Len, I'll give you that.
