I actually thought Francis played quite well. There's no point in having a repeat agenda. Parkinson's quote above that he felt Tuesday night's game took a lot out of Solly seems fair and we pay him to make the decisions.
Francis created a goal and looked quite solid to me - not bad for a player who's probably only done 5 days of training in the last 3 months.
If Solly's good enough, he'll play - no manager keeps the best player on the bench deliberately! Solly did play well last weekend, but he also was dire in the pre-season friendlies - I don't agree with the "he's Charlton, so play him".
I want us to get out of this division at any cost, end of.
As we won Parky can claim to have got his tactics and choice of starting XI right.
I didn't think that Francis was that great, but he was solid enough and Solly had he played would have had to start three games in six days, that's a lot to ask of a young player, especially when we are away from home in an important league match.
Agree with the first post, credit where it's due, and I'm not going to come out with something ridiculous like "you can't credit the manager for moments of individual brilliance" or "it's down to the players on the pitch".
See, it's easy not to deem a view that doesn't fit naturally with your own "hysterical" and rip into it, and it's easy to form opinion based on circumstance/evidence rather than prejudice!
That said, I think NLA has a point. Francis wasn't stand out on Tuesday, so it's interesting that Solly got dropped after an MOM performance, but I guess the result is what counts.
Glad that Solly has played well so far this season, I thought he might struggle.
His connection with Waggy looks a very good pairing, I am sure there are going to be times when Chris is going to get caught out, being an inexperienced player, but with Doc and Dailly it looks a good combination.
It was also good that Tuna was on the bench last night, although with Martin and Abbott, and Sodje I think his chances are going to be very limited.
Must admit that I thought Martin and Doc looked really good last night, if we can keep 11 players on the pitch we look to have a decent team, the players that Parky has got in look good, a couple look very good.
Early days, but after such a radical restructure of the team, the lads did very well, in a hard fought, local derby......
Well i thought we looked superb for large parts of the game, they may of had more of the ball but we spoiled most of it. We passed to feet and our goals were all fantastic, just look at the Waggy finish.
Well done Parky, this team looks great. 6 games unbeaten last season, all with the same team if you remember. Two wins this season both with ten men for the last 30 mins, we look very strong this will be a cracking season.

To be fair, Solly had a bit of a tough time on Tuesday too, albeit out of position. I did think Francis improved as the game went on and I was glad to have him at the back to help deal with the high balls coming in towards the end, that type of stuff may well have exposed Solly a bit. Solly was quite hard doone by though, I agree.
Whichever way you look at it though, it's great to have players challenging each other for a place in the side - the kind of headache all managers want.
This whole Solly in or out argument is pretty pointless if you ask me.
Parky said when we signed Francis "as soon as Frazier left for Southampton we knew Simon was the right back we wanted to replace him".
Pretty clear who is going to be first choice.
Francis isnt fit yet, but has done ok. We appear to be setting up as a side with a physical presence this year. Francis gives us that.
Does Solly have the cross that Francis put in for the opening goal in his locker? I dont think so. Would he have covered Doc's miskick? Maybe. Swings and roundabouts at the moment.
Parky is on record as saying ge wants us to be more of an attacking threat this year. Francis will greatly aid that ambition.
Solly will be benched for most of this season. People may as well get used to it and back the players who are picked.
I expect Solly will be disappointed to have been dropped, but judging by the way he responded in his 5 minute cameo he's letting his football do the talking.
Francis (as stated by Clem above) is obviously Parky's 1st choice RB...at times at Orient he looked assured and organised in defence, especially the last 20 mins or so. But I also have to agree with other posters and say that his distribution was poor on more that one occassion.
I'm sure he will improve though and Solly can make sure that he has to!!
