AFKA, Dave Mehmet and RedArmy7 hogged all the questions and ate all the mince pies so they can fill in the blanks.
About 60 -65 people there. Disappointing by our standards but it wasn't a great night to tempt people out.
We raised around £200 from the raffle and auction towards a set of tracksuits for one of the youth team. Now only £100 short if anyone is feeling flush.
Roger Alwyn said that he's been at a meeting when the idea of merging CAFC, Palace and Wimbledon into South London United had been discussed and if we hadn't gone to West Ham the other options were Millwall or Gillingham.
All the players said they didn't realise quite how important the Valley was until the week before the game.
John Bumstead is still annoyed he got dropped by Steve Gritt so Steve Gritt could play. It was a running joke throughout the night.
Walshie told some good stories about Clough.
Let's say that a question about Pardew drew a guarded response.
Can't remember much more. Syd Cheesewright took some light hearted stick off Nelson and the others. Gritty is soutting for Soton while looking for work.
Steve is also running the marathon and Bromley Addicks will be sponsoring him. More details on that when we have them.

Thanks for the update Henry, sounds like a good night was had by all.
Walshie was great value, he told a funny story about buying a white Ford Capri whilst playing for Forest and Cloughie taking the keys off him and buying him a Fiat 197 that he couldn't even fit in then sending the difference in money to his Mum. Cloughie said he shouldn't be driving around in a flash car whilst people were working hard all week to pay to watch him play.
He also said they hardly ever trained whilst at Forest and they'd hardly ever see Clough, the little training they did involved carrying a couple of goals off to a council field by the Trent and playing 5 a side. Away European Cup games were treated as a holiday and they never trained and just "went on walks".
Gritt seemed immensely proud of being 5th of our all time appearance makers. He said he'd love to be playing today for the money but wouldn't give up playing in his era as the banter was so good.
Nelse said that in his time at the PFA he set up a scheme that see's an ex pro being in attendance at every proffesional game both in England and Scotland doing media work, something he should rightfully be proud of.
Bumstead told a stroy of playing against Charlton for Chelsea and Leaburn getting a punch and as he was staggering about shouting back "Don't come to Lewisham!" which made everyone chuckle. He still works for Charlton on a matchday and referred to us as "we".
Henry's mentioned most of what else I can remember.
Thanks again to Bromley Addicks, it was another good night.
My dad knows John Bumstead pretty well from the lounges and a whle back he got in a cab in London to go to a meeting and the driver was none other than John Bumstead!
Very much regret not being able to get there. Curses to the CHis and Sid Carol Concert at Lamorbey Church that middle son called three line whip on...
Nelse's book was what actually woke me up to supporting Charlton. Having an honorary Grandad (Bill Whittaker) who'd won the Cup with the club wasn't enough, Left Foot Forward totally did the trick though.
I thought LFF said that Pardew was dropped for Gritty 5-12-92, not Bumstead.

it was (or at least thats what i heard).
someone should've asked gritty what exactly was the training ground 'incident' that resulted in a shiner for him leading up to that game.

Brilliant!
I think Pardew has complained that he was not picked for that game, tremendous foresight of Curbs and Gritt, so that he could not be associated with a great day in our history

We must be related then, as my mum is related to Billy Whittaker in some distant way :-)

I would imagine they must have very mixed feelings about what he has subsequently become hence the guarded response.
EDIT: Forgot to mention Gritty.
brilliant
I love Charlton
Seems a genuinely nice chap
Glad all went well on such a cold December night.
