He was good on the air too, for a little un.
I'm not knocking Solly, I think he'll develop into a good player. Just not sure he's ready for regular first team action yet.
But he isn't shy of a tackle - and it's amazing how many are. I like his attitude too. If he gets beat, he doesn't dwell, he just gets on with it.

No one will ever know if he's ready - until he gets his chance.
I reckon he'll grow into well, once he gets a few games under his belt.
But he has to get that chance in the first place.
In my view, Solly doesn't have enough of a physical presence yet, whether that's with pace or strength. His height probably won't matter in the end but when he's 18 in League One with next to no physicality, I'd like to see a player brought in. He's good technically, but hasn't developed in my view.
[cite]Posted By: Dazzler21[/cite]Uncle just look at the twins at man yooooooo they're both about solly's height and for that reason I'm happy enough.
Disagree, according to Wiki, Solly is 5'8 & the Neville bros are 5'11.
He meant Rafael and Fabio, both 5 ft 8, same as Solly.
Fair enough ........ it's been a long day, apologies.
However, I still think that last season he cost us points, which ultimately cost us promotion. ( I know we could all pick a further 20 odd incidents that cost us points of course ).
I will be honest and say that I have not seen Solly enough to either back him or sack him. What I will say is if he gets his chance then I hope the crowd are patient and allow him the odd bad game and errors. What I have experienced of some of my fellow addicks in recent times does not fill me with confidence that he would be allowed that chance. I hope I am wrong.

This is so important.
Solly is very promising - but he's not an old hand with years of experience.
Yet some of our supporters are going to expect him to perform to Prem League standard immediately.
And if Solly doesn't, then some of these so called supporters will set out match by match to destroy him.

Still yet to have a run at right back, his best position. He's not even gone on loan before.
I do think if he hadn't got injured and got a run at right back when Richardson was out, he'd have impressed more than he did when he ended up at left back playing the odd game.
It applies to both sides of the debate of whether Solly Is/Isn't ready yet- I doubt I am alone in not seeing him play in his 'correct' position, and only once I have will I back either side of the argument. I don't expect him to be faultless every time, no player is, but if his height or inexperience are regularly show as weaknesses we can't afford, then I won't give him a 'get out of jail free' card just because he's an academy boy. I want what's best for the team and the club, and I believe Parkinson does too. Let's see what happens over the summer first.

Last season Solly looked like what he is. A small, lightweight youth team player.
I'm not knocking the lad, because you wouldn't expect anything else. But IMO if we have promotion hopes we need a more experieced first choice RB.
Play him in cup games by all means, but not league games.
NB, If he was as good as Richardson he would have been playing & Soton would have signed him instead.
Once again, I'm not knocking him, he certainly has potential.
Striker and RM are the two biggest issues for me, unless Reid is going to play RM. Solly will be fine.

Before Solly is pre-judged, he needs a run of games actually in his true position.
