the ONLY thing that concerns me is their age but boy you can't get more experienced than these players. After all how many games have they played between them. I reckon Fortune will sign but will be that "utility" player. Althogh primarily a defender, did Curbs not try him in Midfleid at one stage (not that i want him to play there unless we have a major injury problem there). What is nice to see is "where have all parky's boo boys gone?"
The good thing is that the old charlton is BACK !! Shame it has taken us a complete "muck up with the money spent" and wrong managers. I feel we are now going in the right decision. Onwards and Upwards.
Although they are 2 different people I CAN see in 5yrs time we will look back and say "Hey look what Parky has achieved for this club"
Er........ Am i missing something here? Judging by the response are you sure it's not Carles Puyol signing up. Mindblowing really mindblowing, Christain Dailly, God help.
Excellent signing - although Fortune would be nice we would be better using the money for a forward and left winger,. We now have the central defensive cover
And btw Dailly is not that slow either - not super quick but werent many times pace caught him out last year

Dailly as a centre back is about as good as it can get, and he played far more than anyone could have predicted when he signed last year.

Who would you get in on a free with limited wages Yllllllek?
Yilek, I assume you watched precisely no games last season, as if you had you may just have noticed that Dailly at times singlehandedly held our defence together.
Of all the players out of contract this summer Dailly was by far the most important one to get signed up.

Incredibly for a 36 year old, Dailly made 44 League appearances last season - more than any other Charlton player.
Cheers Parky, cheers Dailly. I know he's not playing for free, but equally know we've not got a massive budget this year, so the fact that these players are signing for us on maybe less than they could command elsewhere leads me to believe we are starting to formulate what made supporting and watching Charlton so good in the 80s/90s - a real bunch of players giving their committed all for the club, some at the twighlight of their careers (e.g. Crooks, McKenzie etc). I am starting to look forward to Aug 7th already and there is undoubtedly more to come - sweet!
Dailly is more than just a player or even defender - he is a leader, organiser, calming influence and motivator on the park. And he's hugely influential in the dressing room; the players have great respect and look up to him. Priceless!
[cite]Posted By: No.1 in South London[/cite]Looks like the board are doing their bit to give us a real shot at doing well this season, great news.
yep, sell our best two players and our most promosing youngster for ages for a combined fees of 3.5m. Let a good young keeper go for nought, let Burton and Sam walk for nothing without offering a contract, and not yet offer Basey a contract etc etc. Spend nothing on fees and resign players on lesser wages and sign other inferior players. You're right they are doing their bit.
If you don't agree then the alternative is that it's Parky fault for not keeping us up and then not getting us up. If you disagree with that then you can't have it both ways.

Not much pace

Pace or not. Much happier with Daily & Doc at the back than I would be with Sodje & Llera.

Parky's key signing of the pre-season.
