  • [cite]Posted By: Saints fan[/cite]Why because I am correct? There is no question about Pardew overspending at Charlton but your board just sat there and watched.

Pardew came to then Premier League Charlton with a decent managerial record, despite having just been sacked by
    West Ham.

Eventually it became apparent that his main attribute was spinning bullshit ........ we were all suckered in by this arrogant clown. Including the Board.

Then the penny dropped. But not before serious money was spent to meet Pardew's demands.

Here we are today becalmed in the effin' Third Division, with barely a pot to piss in.
And still clearing out Pardew's overhyped, overpriced deadwood.

I wouldn't wish Pardew on my worst enemy. Not even you, Mr Saints Fan.
  • [cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]Unfortunately Pardew is doing just what he didnt do at The Valley ie buy proven players at the level the club is playing rather than gamble on unearthing gems from lower leagues and abroad.
Exactly that, he's learnt lessons from his time here. Still nothing particularly impressive, buying one of the best strikers in the league in Lambert, a proven Championship player like Fonte and various good League One players like Richardson, Puncheon etc. Pardew should get them promoted next season but the real test is after that.

Pardew wouldn't know what to do if had to work on a tight budget. I know for sure that he would be disappointed or perhaps even go public about a club being a worse position than he thought, for instance, just before the season begins.

Edit - Oh, and then to publically critisie your first team left back for having a bad game early in the season.

By comparison, one thing we have learned ....... Parky is a more consistantly shrewd judge of player, than Pardew.
  • [cite]Posted By: Saints fan[/cite]Maybe your board should have had more of a backbone to stop him from making all these signings on 'inflated wages'.

your right but you are beginning to grate on me

I dissagree When Pardew was with us he bought EVERYONE. He bought not only the lower league and forign gambles but a team of proven players to get us promoted.

    Weaver
    Mills Boghera Macarthy Thatcher
ZZ (also kept Sam Thomas Ambrose Ried)
    Toddy, Gray, Iwelomo

His problem was he had so many players but he couldn't build a team. He was the same at West Ham where he had the biggest budget in the Championship twice and never managed better than the play offs. At Reading he had a huge pile of Madejski's cash but only managed one automatic promotion scraping out of league 1 in 2nd place only 1 point clear of two other teams (compare to what Coppell did there with the same resources winning the Championship with 106 points). Why people believe that he should be any better next year than when he waved the cheque book for us, Reading, West Ham or Southampton last year is beyond me.

Pardew has only one skill from what I can see and that is the ability to get Chairmen to spend money.
  • Saints Fan - I agree to some extent that perhaps the board should have kept a tighter budget when we were freefalling but if we had done so people would have criticised them for being too careful and not spending/backing Pardew.

Can you imagine a board coming out and saying to a manager we disagree with your choice of player? They aren't football managers and don't pretend to be. I can just imagine the headlines - Pardew would be on the phone to the Daily Mail so quick, "Board Won't Back Me!"

Hmmmmm ........the things the Board might have done, with hindsight.

Pardew just may have done everyone a favour and chosen to walk himself .
And a whole set of different circumstances could have unfolded.

[cite]Posted By: Danny Addick[/cite]Do they need two right backs?

Southampton had some money in their player budget left over, and it was burning a hole in Pardew's pocket.
He would have signed another striker, but there's none left. He's bought them all, already.

Pretty stupid comment considering we only have three strikers.

    Look! I've told you before...
  • probably old news but i've just seen that southampton have signed butterfield. sorry if its already been posted!
