Right. Which of our 2 teams we've put out today are doomed for relegation?[/qu
Its there opinion, not mine. They said that most of the players looked dis-interested and unfit. Not what you want to be hearing about youngsters who should be desperate to make an impression.

Lord, almighty!
They've been training just a week.
They've been specifically told by the coaching staff not to bust a gut out there. It's just a gentle training match workout to ease players back into the groove.
And the chance for youngsters to play alongside some regular first teamers. And to see if the triallists game suits our playing systems, and if they fit in.
The management will tell you the result is irrelevant. It's just a work out.
Thought 2 of the trialists looked ok - the number 9 and the bloke with dreds. Number 7 was a no for me and 10 (Thor) didn't win a challenge and missed 2 sitters.
I've been to a few of the tradditional Welling pre-season matches and they are similarly bad indicators of a) how the team will get on in the coming season and b) what the starting line-up will be on day one of the new season. Only reason for going would be if there was a particular player you hoped to see or just to support a club in need of a cash injection (used to be Welling, not so sure it's not us this year!).
Interesting to read that an out of contract player, Basey, firstly played at all and secondly took the captain's armband.
I think we can probably glean that he will be signing up although with triallists involved perhaps not.
All very experimental at this early stage and the result is relatively unimportant.
The great Alan Curbishley didn't always produce sides to walk away with pre-season friendlies. Come the first match proper we invariably got a decent start however. As did PP last year let us not forget.
Back from game. Fairly even first half with Wimbledon missing two chances, Semedo captain. Llera good in the air but exposed on the ground as usual. Solly looked lightweight. Jenkinson was stylish, like him. Our trialist winger Esajas is from the Jerome Thomas mould, might be worth another look. Thor missed an open goal from 3 yards but I won't damn him outasight...yet. Bauza looked skilful, worth another look. 2nd half, let in two goals to a makeshift wombles team. Cousins showed some skill in midfield but understandably too lightweight. Ketteridge was alright in goal. He'd do as back up to Rob. I liked Stravinou, very stylish but I hear off to Wimbledon. Mambo looks like he is still growing. Tuna quite poor really, lightweight. Worth thr trip.
[cite]Posted By: Vinnie V.[/cite]How was McCormack?
John Bumstead mk II.
Don't read anything into today, just a loosener for the first team players (the few that were there) and a look at some trialists and the youth.
For me the pluses were Jenkinson (looked calm & solid), Bauza (great first touch and control - but needs an out and out goalscorer to play with as he is a creator rather than poacher) Sawyer (some nice touches but need to see a lot more from him before making a call). Semedo (looks fit and given the armband).
Downside, very few of the youth look up to it yet, Mambo is behind Jenkinson IMO as he doesn't read the game so well and does not look composed. Stav, Tuna, Perkins, - not ready yet for League 1, others not matured enough to even consider - apart from Cousins who oosed class but maybe a year away.
No Akpo, so we played with no recognised forwards, Gunnar had some nice touches but fluffed his finishing (typical Charlton ! ) so needs to be looked at again. Solly caught out a couple of time, but got forward well, his lack of height defending at the back post worries me, but he doesn't shy. Esajas, some nice touches but went missing for too much of the half, good when he is on it, but not one who is going to put his foot in when needed (he is no Kyel Read).
I know you shouldn't read too much into these games but I can't help but think that none of the youngsters are going to make much of an impact this year.
Of the trialists I'd probably only bother with Bauza again. Although he isn't going to be an out an out striker. Very much a link man. Showed some ok touches but as was the case with the entire team, there was no goal threat. Thor looks light weight and unfit. Missed an open goal from about 5 yards as well. Neither winger did anything of note.
Most worrying aspect of the day was the way Solly got skinned 3-4 times by the left winger. We need to sign a right back.
As most on here probably thought, I can't see McCormack and Semedo playing together either.
Congratulations to all Addicks on the first train back to Waterloo. Never before have I seen a sweatier bunch of football fans. To be fair, it was about 130 degrees in the carriage!.

That's all.
Which shows that Spurs will win the Prem title by a street.
And Bournemouth relegated out of sight, probably by Christmas.
Ha ha! We're DOOMED, I tell thee!

Strange for Parky not to be there with so many trialists playing.
(even though I havent got one)

So sign bauza and st etienne, dump all the others, close the academy and lump on us to go down it is.

0-2
Match report on the OS: Wombles 2 Charlton 0, bugger all, not a sausage
Ketteridge the triallist keeper came on after 67 mins.
Basey played 67 mins, youth player Joe Carter replaced him.

Yes. Come back Clive!
Please.
Hmmmm.
