Strikers could make such a big difference, I'm sure we can find decent enough defenders where needed, hopefully wingers, but getting the right strikers in could make the difference between an average season and very good one (or poor and decent depending how you look at it).
Agree, Razil ...... it's been a roller coaster week.
Players in, players out ........ nothing on the OS until everybody already knows about it; CL crashing because Mr LookOut has exceeded his authorised number of users and it's not even a crucial match day. people who 48hours ago were in the depths of despair now upbeat and cheery;
Phew! The excitement ..... but loving it.
World Cup, Ingerland - forgotten already. Beats work anyday!

Apologies about that, there has been a severe upsurge in traffic this week. Tuesday for example saw the 2nd highest amount of unique visitors to the forum for the year (the top was the day we sold Shelvey and were linked onto a lot of Liverpool sites), and things have been straining a bit.
I'd rather be looking forward to another so called "boring" season in the Premiership but since we are not I'll put the financial worries to the back of the my mind and try to get old fashioned excited about new players and the new season.
This year it will be nearly totally Parky's team and Parky's players. You can read that as good, bad or indifferent but it will be a big factor IMHO.

Appreciate you have challenges now you are so popular! (No, not you personally, Danny)

Fair enough.
Phil Parkinson now has a massive opportunity to prove himself, but the players have to prove themselves too. All as one.
They together could be good enough and they together could fail... if the latter occurs we'll see what happens.
Concernd with out lack of depth but I think a decent few additions and 2 or 3 resigns and we will defo be there or there abouts next season, we had pig bad injuries last season with basey youga burton missing large chunks and having to use up a loan on 2 left backs didn't help. If we can add 3 or 4 more and get dailly and waggy re signed then we could defo sneak in the back door. A lot is up to us also to get the negative shite left behind and look forward, there's not gona be many of us home and away this term so let's bloody let everyone know who we are and were up for the bloody fight this year.
with no reid , bailey , dare i say it sam or shelvey i'm not sure where the edge of the seat excitment will come from ...
we have a very limited team imo atm
a few grafters with more effort than skill
can't see where the goals will come from
and i foresee a very ordinary season but one where we will be looking slightly more upwards to what might be than downwards to the depths of football hell
midtable for me atm
therefore firmly establishing ourselves in this pony league ....
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT
I remember being excited as hell when Pards took over, I was also really excited the start of the 1st championship and 2nd championship season. Since then excitment has been replaced by fear and unscathing terror.
so far i think things are going ok. Bailey's gone and that was inevitable. Richardson was a bit out of the blue, but i understand the money was hard to turn down and i think solly can fill his shoes. Parky is doing his best to rebuild the squad and he has brought in 3 players this week that i think can do a job for us. there's still a few weeks until the new season kicks off and no doubt there will be more signings. strikers should be parky property now and getting in the right ones could make all the difference to how our season might go.
Said it before, say it again,to get out of this division you need a striker that scores 20 goals plus a season.By the way surname must begin with H........74-75 Hales backed up by Horsfield and 80-81Hales,best of luck Parky.

I agree at the moment we limited, but we still need to sign at least 1 if not 2 wingers and 2 maybe 3 strikers (if McLeod goes), that's where more of the excitement will come from.
The priority must be getting out of this dreadful division. Looking at the opposition this year is huge reminder as to our place in the world. I would settle for a team that grinds out results and just runs its socks off. To link to another thread, I suppose that would make Parky the new Curb and many would moan too.

Of course, we have a limited team at the moment - and I'm sure even Parky would completely agree with you, as it stands today.
It's blindingly obvious it's not complete at the moment. It's only this week that the Board has allowed Parky to sign incoming players, and he has brought in 3 very decent players in just 3 days.
At least 2 players are on trial at the moment: a speedy goalscoring winger with 3 years Championship experience, and a striker with a good pedigree and European competition experience - but they have to prove themselves first, and rightly so.
There'll be others, no doubt.
So give Parky a break, mate ........ give him a chance to at least finish his teambuilding, before making your sly digs.
No obituaries, No favourite five songs by someone you have never heard of, nobody getting all excited about the latest bit of technology that is well err just a feckin phone.
Just Charlton stories plain & simple, it's been a great read last few days long may it continue.
[cite]Posted By: razil[/cite]crap, we haven't signed anyone today yet!
Agreed. Parky OUT! ........ ha ha.
[cite]Posted By: razil[/cite]we needed a fresh start
we needed a big clearout
fun fun fun
And agree with your earlier post .......there's still a nucleus of established Pro's from last season - but players leaving, and the influx of experienced new players keen to do well creates a fresh energy within the club.

Come on boys, new strip, bunch of ugly battlers and half a splash of quality, Ive got a feeling tis gonna be a good season....
