[cite]Posted By: oohaahmortimer[/cite]if the boots a decently made boot , it shouldn't matter what colour the poxy things are ...
personally I think you need a fair amount of ability to carry off a brightly coloured pair of boots....on a sunday morning I'll always put in that little bit 'extra' in a tackle if they have stupid colour boots on....I suspect some pro's are the same.
All I would say on the subject of coloured boots is that Paulo Di Canio wore plain black boots, not even any white flashes on them and he was easily the most skillful and flamboyant player we've had this decade, if not going further back.
I remember about 4 or 5 games into his Charlton career, Jason Euell had been playing very poorly.
After he dribbled the ball out for a goal kick in front of us in the South Stand, my mate stood up and shouted ' Euell, you are not good enough to wear white boots' He looked up at us, looking very miserable with himself, but a few games later he was wearing black boots and then started scoring for us.
If there was anything to suggest that Charlton employed only the best and most successful coaches in the country I would not find this story so embarassing. Unfortunately, for the last few years Charlton have obviously employed only distinctly average coaches and as such they should not draw attention to themselves with such silly pronouncements.
Great news, one of my massie pet hates!! drives me mad when kack like sam and racon wear football shoes that only really messi, Ronaldo, me and Carl Leaburn can actually get away with wearing. Plase ban them from all forms of the game, they are horrible pretentious well gay and rubbish.

I take the opposite view, it's been quite a while since CAFC have done something that makes feel like we are diferent from the crowd, so far from embarassing. I've been wound up by a succession of (at best) average players parading about in their white, yellow, red, whatever boots. If you're Henry and a World Cup winner and a world class player, yeah by all means, you've earn't the right to show off a bit but otherwise keep 'em for training if you must.
It sends a message to the kids that there is a long way to go before they can consider themselves a class apart from the rest and unitl then concentrate on doing the right things, not looking the part.

Personally think these crazy coloured boots are a little bit daft and pretentious and I welcome this.
Back to basics and all that
Maybe we can get Lloyd Sam to design some.
Only so the blood won't show.
Not that bothered about the colour (even if I think black boots look much better), the point about proper padding and protection is the important one.
That's what I thought. But a quick google images shows that he has in fact worn red at times:

As much as I agree - I think it's a tad prima donna to wear some of the spangly abhorrences our players wear.
We should go back to proper old school ; Plain black - with shiny metal studs.
And while i'm on my soap box - All goalies should wear green
One less thing for them to think about.

"Matthew joked: "Lloyd Sam plays in these yellow boots but that's why he didn't score that many goals, he was too easily seen."
It's not like the players or club are paying for the boots so can't see what the problem is.
Any "ban" only applies to the youth set up, not the pro's.

BTW if it's good enough for Fergie...
