i always felt sorry for him. His football might have been shit, but for 2 seasons our best player was a 37 year old former scottish international which tells it's own story. A great guy who cared deeply about the club and what our fans thought, i remember he was a pundit on tv about a month after he was replaced and kept calling charlton "we" and "us" and correcting himself like a person who's still hurting after an ex girlfriend.

Agree completely, although we played some pretty decent football in the first half of that first League One season - we went more direct post Christmas.
As for the second season, well, when your budget stretches to the likes of Akpo Sodje, Gary Doherty, Paul Benson and Alan McCormack then you are not exactly going to be re-creating Brazil 1970.
Parky was doomed at Charlton given his association with Pardew and the crap squad he inherited. CP struggled with the same squad and I think Parky was given a raw deal by many of our fans. Met him a couple of times and he came across as a thoroughly decent guy who cared about the club. I am glad Bradford stuck by him after a sticky start and hope his career continues to progress. Fantastic performance today and I'm really pleased for him.
I remember bumping into him pissed (I was) in the car park , near the end of our first season in League One , when it looked like we could end up meeting the scum in the play offs and I made the point to him that whatever he did don't ever lose to the scum again He did me proud in the previous round of the cup

Streamed a lot of games to Australia back then?
They might have done, I don't know.
I didn't have to stream them though because Fox Sports showed us live about 8-9 times that season and I came back in October and March and saw another four games then.
That didn't work out very well, did it?
Maybe you should have stuck to fellating Andrew Mitchell.
Christian Dailly said at a fans forum at the Valley that Parkinson was a special manager, Murray said that he reminded him of Curbs. Sadly he was our manager at a time when our fans were at our lowest ebb and it reflected back on him and was not helped by Murray saying he would be judged on results and then appointed despite them.
Wasn't it 0 wins from 10 games before he was appointed.
Great goals from Bradford, what a day for those fans. We could do worse than look at Jon Stead based on that performance, cracking hold up play for two of the goals and what a finish for the first one.

We almost signed him a few years ago... He was at Blackburn and had the choice between us and Sunderland (Joined the latter)

They looked like they were having the time of their lives. So happy for them and for PP. Good karma for a good man. Like all our recent managers, deserved far more time and far more understanding for the cards they have/had been dealt.

Bradford City Football Club were absolutely amazing today. One day I hope, we too will achieve something like that. One day....
We have...
- 4-2 win over Arsenal @ Highbury - 3-3 draw with Man Utd - 3-2 win over Coventry in the FA Cup when we made the QFs in 2000
The first two were league games when we too were in the PL. The third was when we were top of the Championship. All great results but not in the same class as what BCFC achieved today.

When we beat Blackburn in the FA Cup in 1994 at the Valley?
Just seen it on match of the day. Fantastic. Must be amazing to be a Bradford fan today.
I looked at the Bradford fans and it reminded me of how I felt at the end of the Play Off Final and also 3-3 v Man U ... those moments don't come too often as a Charlton fan, so they need to be savoured.

Liking him as a human being and thinking he was a shit mgr for us I think a hell of a lot of cafc fans thought that
I didn't think he was shit. He did better than could have been expected most of the time. Have you forgotten winning our first six games in Div 3, and the football we were playing then? It wasn't Parky' s fault that Lloyd Sam was one of those players that simply couldn't apply his talent consistently and had a footballing brain the size of a pea.
The biggest problem I had with him was that he couldn't bring JonJo on effectively, but even there I have sympathy for him, since JonJo was on a different wavelength to the other players and some of our knobhead fans. I was there for that disaster against Swindon, and he was never going to survive that poisonous atmosphere. It was the right decision. But he wasn't a shit manager, as he is now proving.

Instead he's doing well with lesser players.

If Parky gets the bantams into the championship, will be a greater achievement.
