Personally have warmed to Parky more as the season has gone on and don't understand why people still hate him, nobody would of done a better job, we had no money and he made some shrewd free transfers.
Difference this season is that we never had a proper cutting edge, look at the teams that have gone up, Leeds (Beckford), Norwich (Holt, Martin), Swindon (Austin, Paynter), Millwall (Morrison), We have had Burton, All these teams have goalscorers, when was the last time we had a proper one? Darren Bent, since then we have done nothing but fall down the leagues, until we find one i don't feel confident about ever getting promotion

[cite]Posted By: addick16[/cite]i was speaking on behalf of a former director, whom i work with on a daily basis, and is my father. i only just joined this forum once no longer apart of the PLC and LLC. my input is pretty much useless these days about current board topics. Im trying to contribute to this website/forum as a HUGE life long Charlton fan. Believe me that Charlton will get this sorted out and we will gain promotion next year. Its just a matter out of getting the best out of our current players. We can win this league with the players we have now and our youth team. i know we sold shelvey, but the money was too good to turn down for him. We have great youngsters and the youth system is our best asset.
Some pretty bold statements written here, I get the feeling this will be quoted about this time next year to see if you are right.
Disgree Mike. Dont think any of us "hate" Parkinson at all. Top bloke and I have a helluva lot of respect for him as a man. Just dont think he is the right man to turn our fortunes around with our current resources and squad and would like to see a change. Morrison was playing non- league recently so whehter Jackett inspired the best out of him after spotting his potential or whethter he was just lucky is debatable. Plus Millwall had a team of battlers who punched above their weight which could be argued was down to theiir manager.

Who is and who can we afford? Maybe you don't know, but how do you expect the board to know?
We didn't have have the money to gamble on someone like Morison, he cost them about £130k. It's not as simple as being good enough to spot potential in non league, unless they are out of contract or at a very low level they still cost a fee.
Millwall are not punching above their weight with just battlers either. They have a good partnership up front, a midfield that create chances for them and their defenders are probably as good as any in the division. Most of us would have had Darren Ward back wouldn't they? Millwall might battle but they also have the ability to get into the top six. Other teams like Colchester battled but weren't good enough.
Sco, not saying I know but there are people out there. I expect the board to know through research in the same way that every board across the country appoints managers.
Yes we were badly burned by pardew, reed and dowie and that was frustrating particularly when pardew and dowie were given a lot of money in comparison to Curbs and they wasted it.
Know we need stability but the board said on parkinsons appointment that he will be judged on results and I dont think the results have been good enough over the season as a whole. The team were magnificent on Monday and if we had played like that consistently it may be different.
Agree that we have absolutely no money and may unfortunately have a much weaker squad next term but i just dont think parkinson is the man to make the most of it. Shelvey wasnt in his plans and he was one of our best youth products and not getting played.
And if as this thread hints at directors dont have any faith in him then it argues why mere fans like me should.
I think what's being said is that Parkinson stays put but no money to spend... the board have faith in him, as do I ... he's the closest thing to Curbs since he left in terms of making do with what is available and not splashing the cash
But the original point of the thread is how did we manage to let a 2-0 lead get away... same as the away leg we went chasing the game to win it in champagne style! Bailey could have kept on running as the defenders were backing off so quick to cover the 4 or five in front of him and on the wings or he should have played a through ball or out to the wing but we know what happened next
Llera kept us in the game as that was 88th minute(?) As many have said we went on to make chances but no one could finish

So we lost and we have to get on with it!
