  • He is very good!
  • Am a bit frustrated when we sign non league strikers they just aren't good enough. Swindon picked out Austin, Leeds Beckford and Millwall Morison. We signed Dickson and Fleetwood and neither are good enough.
  • Austin is destined for bigger and better things than Swindon ..... AND Charlton

Him and god forbid it, Paynter, will be the difference between us and them over two legs ....
  • Austin for England!!
  • i cant believe so many think we are out of this tie, swindon were as much of a mess as us in defence, we will not play that bad again, 2 nil or 3 -1 to us on the night Swindon have missed their chance
  • Is Paynter expected to be available Monday?
  • Paynter has done his hamstring.

To be fair though, not worried when Austin and Ward are playing.
  • Will paynter be about monday?
  • His eyes are too close together. Face is too small for his head. Funny sideburns too. Not sure I trust him.
  • Maybe he isn't real

  • Swindon fan last night on way out told me that Newcastle have a deal to sign Austin. Obviously not sure if it true and the guy did not elaborate more than just saying "he is off to Newcastle, deal done" or words to that effect.
  • I agree with Nth London Addick, some if not ALL of our fans are so bloody defeatist, what was so good about swindon last night?OK Ward and Austin were good, apart from that they had absolutely nothing! They looked nothing when we played them at home earlier in the season, they will definitely feel deep down that they have missed their chance. ESPECIALLY after there striker missing that chance in the last minute, we were the much better side second half yesterday and they are really there for the taking i feel. Plus they wont be able to handle our atmosphere on monday!

No its just the main ppl on here, and generally the ones who didnt go last night, everyone I talked to was really positive about monday, if we hadnt got that goal things might have been diff but we did, everyone on the coach back still convinced we'll do alrght the most defeatist said we'll go out in extra time/pens, I got a feelin will go the distance but we will prevail in the end

Oh and scott minto even agrd, reckons will be close but we should just bout go through
  • We should mate, i really dont think swindon are all that! Not that we are any better but i think we can do them!

I thought Swindon were better in the 1st half, the 2nd half was bossed by Charlton -admittedly they scored 2 goals 1 of which was a breakaway goal, Bailey's effort was superb and he was unlucky not to score. In reality it could easily have been 2-2. After we scored they looked awful at the back, they panicked practically every time we attacked and they looked like they were desperate to hang on to the 2-1.I think Pericard's miss at the end is the tie's turning point and I really think a full SUPPORTIVE Valley that screams it's heart out for the team will spur our boys on and if we can nick a goal early on Swindon could be on the end of a battering. BELIEVE.
  • Simple game of 2 halves - shame we conceded 2 goals when we were arguably on top but that's football

burtons goal could prove priceless in the end

    A load of rubbish.

This rumour started because Colin Calderwood has been to watch us twice this season.
  • Swindon played us of the park in the first half. They could have been 3 up at half-time, thanks to Randolph they weren't.
The second half we were in the ascendancy, yet astonishingly conceded two goals. We then got a rather lucky goal via route one. Then another slice of good luck in the last minute when Pericard missed that sitter.
If we had come out of that at 3-1 down i couldn't honestly see us turning it around at The Valley. But we came out 2-1 down and have a very real chance of victory. However our performance has to be at it's best from kick-off to the end.
  • quality player, destined for premier in next few years championship next regardless if swindon go up if they dont and we do sign him up at all costs

right thorn in our side, won every header, knew exactly what to do with the football, intelligent runs, complete performance imo lets hope we can keep him quiet on monday

  • Why was Burtons goal lucky just because it was route one?
  • The husband of my neice, a Swindon nut, reckons the Austin to Newcastle Rumours are bollox. He did say though that Paynter might be off to Leeds!
  • We shouldve got mooney to break his legs at the end of the first leg... it aint like we're gonna need (want) him playing

Slightly harsh there UTA, I thought mooney had a good game imo. I do agree with some of the criticsm he gets but he was definately one of our better players friday and dont think he did alot wrong, still dont think he should start tonight as Forster should just wanted to say mooney done a good job with what he had of the ball and credit given when due regardless of the player

At least he did not hide and continued to show for the ball!
  • I think Mooney has no chance with our supporters the poor fella. Some of our fans are just blind to every good touch or pass he makes, but as soon as he makes a poor touch or falls over, its "PARKY GET HIM OFF HE IS SO LIGHTWEIGHT". It really does my head in and just proves how thickle some of our supporters are!
  • Was very impressed with Austin, i always thought he was just a goal poacher but he's quick, holds the ball up well and his distribution was good as well. Amazing to think he was a part timer less than a year ago.
  • Probably is tosh about Austin and Mewcastle but if Swindon do not go up, they will do well to keep hold of Austin.

Paynter been linked with Leeds, again perhaps dependent on their promotion hopes.

Don't get me wrong... I actually think he is a very talented player when he wants to be (see his first 4/5 games), and I used to praise him for it. Since then he has been pathetic - every time he goes for a challenge, he crouches and backs in, constantly giving away free kicks. I think he was possibly our worst player at swindon (with the sodje bro's in a close second)
  • I have to say... Forster's runs were quality when he came on. It's hard to defend against a striker running across you.

Think I'd start Deon and Forster up top
