Team for Monday....

With the score being 2-1 do we go attacking or the same side. IMO we should start Kyel Reid, i'm not too sure about their right back and i think Reid was screaming out to come on. Also once Forster had come on we looked far more attacking and he created decent chances.

So....for me it's

...........................Randolph............

...Richardson......Sodje (if fit).......Dailly.......Borrowdale

....Sam.............Bailey............Semedo.......Reid

.....................Burton.........Forster............

• That looks like my starting team as well.

We need to win - end of, so we start with our most attacking side and retain Sodje against a couple of pacy forwards.
• Yes yes yes. That team should've started today. If he starts Bailey on the left again I'm going to pull my hair out. We're at home and we need to win. Reid must start. And so must Forster.
• Yep.Tonight was never a game for Mooney.
• I reckon we should of played 4-5-1 tonight, anyone agree?

First half - yes, they over-ran us early on and a stronger midfield would have negated some of their threat, it's not like we were threatening their goal with two up-front, so we wouldn't have missed anything playing one less striker. As Carly Burn says, tonight was not a game for Mooney and Foster should have started, we needed his threat and nous in front of goal, Mooney has some positive attributes, but he's simply not physical enough for that kind of game.
• Drop Mooney, Racon and Sam Sodje if he's isn't fit.

Randolph
Richardson
Llera
Dailly
Borrowdale
Sam
Bailey
Semedo
Reid
Burton
Akpo
• What are your guys thoughts on the game then ?

Anyone impress?
• He won't drop Racon, lets be honest.

why should he, there was one midfielder tonight who was very poor and his surname rhymes with one of our centre halves.

STFC_Bloke, I really dont know what to make of the game, I thought we were very unlucky to go 2-0 down in such a quick period of time. First half you settled quicker, second half i thought we were the much better side. I just fear where our goals are coming from. Austin and Ward are both clearly very good players but i really dont think there is a lot to you apart from them 2 an obviously paynter. Was a great game though!

anyone but Mooney and Sam must play as he's a superstar. Oh, and can we tell Liverpool where to stick their 1.7m and play Shelvey ?
• My exact team Stubley. Should have started tonight
• Same team for me Stubley
• randolph, richardson, llera, dailly, solly, sam, semedo, racon, bailey, reid, burton
• .................. Randolph................
Richardson...Llera....Dailey...Borrowdale
Sam........Semedo.......Bailey.......Reid
.........Forster...... A Sodje...............

SIMPLES

Just what do you think Shelvey would have produced last night...you talk like he's the missing link or something who could have single handedly taken us to the promised land................he's just a kid learning his trade FFS.
• i don't think its fair to say bailey was poor - in the first half none of our play went down the left which was partly his fault as he wasnt playing wide enough but they were obviously aware of that and then second half it changed and he did well i felt.

racon shouldn't be dropped. he is in good form and although he didnt particularly make his mark last night he didnt do anything to warrant being dropped.

i think we leave it as it is (but with forster coming in) and have reid as an impact substitute - he has generally done well as a sub but then underperformed when starting games.

i don't understand leaving forster out the last two games - against leeds him and burton finally began to look like a strike partnership, which has not happened once all season between two of our centre forwards.

Yeah, good enough for Liverpool but not good enough for league one......

Any team without Mooney in it would be good enough for me.

I know he has played well all season but Richardson was caught out several times by the speed of the Swindon attack.

Solly just might make a difference.

• On Monday we are at home and should be the dominant team. Racon and Sam although not too impressive at Swindon will get more ball and both should start. Only change for me would be Forster for Mooney. Llera for Sodje if he is not fit. If we are desperate for a goal in the closing stages then I would throw Llera into the mix up front. Not sure Parky has the mentality to really go for broke so I expect a cautious start and to win by a single goal. God only knows if our players have the balls for a penalty shoot out.

most sensible post of the morning so far clem Solly over Richardson is ridiculous

do people who were at the match honestly thik bailey was poor he put more blocks in than anyone, we are still in this people i am telling you we shouldnt be but we are and i reckon we will punish them for it
• Randolph

Richardson - Llera - Dailly - Borrowdale

Wagstaff - Semedo - Bailey - Reid

Burton - Forster

Sam, Mooney and Akpo coming on as impact subs.
• We need to play with 11 men on Monday rather than the 10 last night. What on earth was Sodjie doing on the pitch last night? Obviously not fit and a total liability IMO. We play much better as a team with Llera who at least can get the ball down and make a pass unlike donkey Sam who hoofs anything in sight!

As for Mooney, he shoudn't even be on the bench Monday, absolutely awful!

Why bring Wagstaff on, did he actually touch the ball, hedless chicken springs to mind. If Lloyd Sam had to come off why not switch Bailey to the right and bring Reid on who at least looks a threat.

To have any chance on Monday, we can't put out the same team as last night.
• Reid, Akpo and Wagstaff have always done better when coming on as an impact subs in my view. I think this affects Parky's thinking - but if you use those as the subs then it leaves either Forster or Moon out of reckoning.
• I would rather Wagstaff started over Sam and have Sam coming off the bench. Sam is lazy and ineffective which can lead to big errors as proven last night. We all know he has it in him when he want's to, especially at this level but it's too much of a risk in such a massive game on Monday to hope that he can be bothered. At least Mooney runs about and puts some effort in.

What does Wagstaff bring to the team, absolutely nothing IMO and as for Mooney he can run about all day but never looks like scoring. His first touch is on par with Jason Euell and how many times does he loose the ball. Shouldn't be anywhere near the team on Monday.
• What did Sam bring to the team yesterday? Apart from playing his part in their first goal.

Randy

Dailly Llera Borrowdale

Richo
Semedo

Bailey
Racon

Reid

Forster
Burton

Brief Richo to overlap, while Semedo sits and covers. Racon works the centre and looks to cover behind Reid if needed. Bailey can tuck in a bit to support Racon and try to get on the ball and should look to get forward as much as possible. Burton plays the hold up role and Forster works the channels (especially the right one in support of Richo). Reid is told to go out and get at them and attack, attack, attack.

It looks a bit unbalanced on paper but I think it might work in practice. Remember we played with a diamond formation at home to Swindon and it worked well until the sendings off. With the subs we have we can easily revert to something more othadox if it doesn't work.
