There were certainly quite a few Leeds fans in the East.
Not sure what would have happened had they got a goal or even two, but it would have been interesting from their reactions to see quite how many there were there - all presumably with tickets supplied by our own supporters with buying history etc. If that is the case, wouldn't they have to take responsibility for any trouble that had occurred?
As it is they helped our finances and bumped the gate up to a number which you could actually believe when it was announced.
As for those in the away end, it was good to see their reactions to Richardson and co and credit to them for supporting their team rather than baiting us.
[cite]Posted By: Airman Brown[/cite]Fair enough, I read NLA's comment as a criticism they had got tickets. What happens inside the ground once they are there is a different issue. However, the policing/stewarding objective is to minimise trouble. It isn't necessarily the right tactic to remove all away supporters and we may not have had the resources to do it anyway.
airman i never meant it to sound as a criticism sorry if it it did it was more a pointer too look into who many got through how they got there and what can we do once they are there

hence why away fans should be in away areas
SHG
it really pees me off yet i have done it myself and keep my head down and gob shut when i have done it i also know that if i get a smack it is my fault as i shouldnt have been there.
the leeds fans were supporting their team from the home end so not sitting quietly on 3 occasions in 39 posts some repetitive,, stewards or security have been aware that there were away fans in the same end as home fans and on 1 occasion violence was the outcome yet the stewarding and security failed to act yesterday should be used as an example of how not to deal with segregation issues
if we draw them out i would bet my life that if the same thing happens again poeople will be in uproar that it was allowed to happen and it could well kick off if the club do not review the circumstances around the issues raised, i can not see how if away fans are noticed in the wrong end that those paid to remove them cant do so, it is a recepie for troubleand one that could have far more costly consequencies than that of having enough OB or stewards on hand to get rid of them, i would have thought that if enough away fans congregate ion the same areas then a mid to large scale disorder could take place and that could cost the club loads in cash through fines from the league and damage to the ground.
my other point was how did so many end up all together there was no charlton fans with them they were all leeds so it didnt look like a season ticket holder had bought his mate we are talking about groups of 6 -10 people all seated within a block together this is where i would like to see the club improve remove all away fans when spotted, give home fans the opportunity to report them without having to do so infront of the away fans that are in the wrong area,
Yeah the ones who got asked to leave Bartrams and chatted happily with charlton fans outside for a few minutes seemed ok....then the charlton fans left and one of them walked up to the statue and spat on it before they walked off.
I've only been in the wrong end once, away at Wet Spam. It was sh*t, we won 2-0 but it felt like a loss as I couldn't celebrate at all. I'd never do it again, rather listen on the radio than sit in the wrong end, don't understand why so many fans do it

Done it at west ham and was walking in the turnstiles and a bloke i knew said what are you doing here you're charlton? which was kind of him.
Also did it up at goodison at the game when rooney tried to break chris powells legs and my scouse mate kindly stood up and shouted "These four are cockneys"....wouldnt have minded but im from orpington so am about as cockernee as dick van dyke.
Worse time was when went to argentina v saudi arabia as a 12 year old and got pelted with coins by the saudi "firm" for 90 minutes cos was sat next to some Dutch people vocally supporting argentina. That was a bizarre episode.

[cite]Posted By: ValleyGary[/cite]Picking up tickets from the North office (Que was about 3 miles long) and a few 'geezers' in front of us picked up players tickets under Sanchez Watt.
Just curios as to why Leeds players mates being seated in the North Stand????
He's a london boy so very much doubt they support leeds or would have been vocal.
Difficult to critisise when most of us have done something similar but, I can, because I know that I'm capable of sitting on my hands for 90 minutes and controlling myself so I'm unlikely to cause any problem to anyone BUT when you get large groups of (drunk) fans clearlyy winding everyone around them up through their actions it just not on and leads to problems. Would have been a lot of flashpoints yesterday if Leeds had equalised given the importance of the game.
I had about 6/7 blokes around me sitting together who obviously weren't Addicks. Was expecting the worst but they didn't seem to be getting behind Leeds either. Bit slow I know, but eventually figured out they were Millwall. Now that was a situation that could have got very naughty if results had gone differently and whoever they got their tickets through needs sorting out but it won't happen because the stewards didn't deal with it despite the fact one was standing about 5 feet away from them.
Picked my tickets up from the west stand office just before 2pm with no queues at all. just as i was going into the maze some horrible looking thing with a thick yorkshire twang asked if i could get him some tickets. I told him that with an accent like that he could go and do one. However as i was walking away with my tickets i saw him handing over some cash to a couple of Charlton kids in colours so i guess he made in in somewhere.
Away fans in home stands, wether behaving or not is always going to be tricky. If anyone's got the balls to mingle with home fans, chances are they're going to kick off at some point especially if they had scored. Agree with an earlier post, it's like someone coming into your home uninvited and making themselves comfy in your favourite armchair.
Overall they were a credit to their club, especially considering their reputation. On the train journey down from london bridge they were on good form although quite a few got off at Deptford and Greenwich, apparently for a meet up with some old pals from Millwall. they did look a bit heavy duty so i'm glad none of them made it in (presumably). The trip back up to LB was chocka with Leeds and whilst they fairly gracious and well behaved, there was an arrogance about them that won't endear them to many people.
I think the fact that it was pissing down with rain and everyone got a good soaking after the game helped avoid some potential flashpoints. There were quite a number of very wet knuckle heads getting on some of those coaches!
I find it a sad state of affairs that at rugby and cricket matches I can sit with a mixture of my own and opposition fans and enjoy the craic yet at football, thanks to a minority of violent, bullying scum, I cannot.
That said it will only be obvious that an away fan is in the home end if he opens his mouth or blatantly supports his team. In those circumstances, given the rules, he should be summarily evicted. However does it matter if he sits quietly withoout offering any kind of threat, verbal or physical, to home fans?
