I'm actually hoping he'll be rather good this year, with a proper run of fitness behind him. Was looking a handful for Sheff Wed before the injury, but 2 years must take it out of you.
Honestly, I despair with some of our "fans". I prefer to remember the great equaliser at Yeovil in the monsoon and that winning header at home to Leeds. We are playing in the 3rd division FFS and he is a decent player at this level, when fully fit. Cut the guy some slack.
[cite]Posted By: mart77[/cite]Am I the only person that thinks Akpo will have a decent season for us? I know he's come in for some stick but I really hope everyone gets behind him and think he could easily chip in with 10 - 12 goals. May even back him first goalscorer tomorrow!
I've always quite liked him, bit of a battering ram centre forward, 100% effort, not the greatest but I'd take him over Mooney every day of the week.

Well said, Red Pete!

Just because someone thinks someone is gash, you can't just assume their gonna get behind them 100% in the ground, not everyone who is pessimistic is a booboy....

Well said all.
FFS, it's the first game of the season today. You know, that moment when we're allowed to be reasonably optimistic in the hope that this MIGHT be our year. Can we please - just for once - leave the rubbishing of our own until after the game.
Thought he played well today. He's never going to be a Rooney but he won most of his challenges in the air, his touch wasn't bad AND he scored - something that some people were insisting he was never going to do.
As I predicted yesterday, Akpo got the first goal today and I thought he did quite well. Unfortunately this wasn't good enough for some muppet in the north lower who actually booed him when he scored. Some of our fans we could really do without!

WTF
someone booed a player when he scored i wouldve twatted him there and then FFS
[cite]Posted By: CAFCdamo[/cite]yh i think he did rly well today
also gave me a laugh when he was being subbed and was completely oblivious
great game today and as I prevously said, would take him over Mooney every day.....loved it when he was subbed, he knew exactly what he was doing and that he was coming off, chose to ignore the board and walked into their keepers net to drink his drink and kill some time

I got upset and was trying to find who did it as I was really pissed off but couldn't see them. I know he's not always easy on the eye but I thought it confirmed that some of our fans want certain players to fail!
If being positive on a message board made one iota of difference to a player then I'd be happy to write the bullshit that some write on here about everyone that plays for charlton
and I'd be on the current no.1 in south londons teams message board slagging their players off night and day
In the ground is where I'm +ive and cheer them all on and I'm sure most if not all of the not so +ive goons on here are the same !
Before yesterday, so many were slagging Apko Sodje off before the Season had even started. How many of those have had the decency/balls to log in and take it back I wonder, because I've read none so far?
I didn't see many other Charlton players threatening to actually score yesterday other than Apko Sodje.
I've even read on here today that he had an okay game but needs to make more intelligent runs - well I remember him being in the right place at the right time at least twice, one resulting in our WIN!
i think a fair few of us have said that it will be his first full season with us and one that hasnt strted with an injury, i think that he now has 7 goals in 11 starts fantastic record

Well played big fella.
Linked up really well with Reidy and looked really confident.
What a nice man too. Met him the other week, gentlemen!

About half as much as he will give when Robbie keeps his 15th clean sheet before Christmas!
As much as you'll give when he doesn't
thats 10% of his target fulfilled day one....
and Large, BACK OFF!!!!
Give some of OUR players a break....
F F SSSSS
lets get positive!
