  • Following on from Henry's post.

I advocated Dailly being left out after the Orient game. I think he needs a rest. He has played an awful lot of football this year. Personally, I think Llera and Sodje could work.

Think we will nick 1-0 or 2-1 tonight.

Would got for the following line-up:

    Elliot if fit

    Richardson
    Llera
    Sodje
    Basey

    Reid
    Semedo
    Bailey
Racon (graham Stuart Role tucked in)

    Sodje
    McKenzie

    Subs:

    GK
    Shelvey
    Dailly
    Sam
    Wagstaff
    Burton
    A N Other
  • You could be right, Henry. Was quite impressed by Andy's son on Saturday & hoping for a Deon/Leon or Akpo pairing to start the match.

AND there was a rumour yesterday ( probably read it on here ! ) that an altercation at the Training Ground might put the Deon/Mooney partnership in jeopardy....

Raining pretty hard here in Dartford and the minute and apparently ditto in Kettering , a bit further north. Being somewhat of a pessimist , what are the odds of a waterlogged pitch postponing tonight's match AGAIN ?
  • Altercation between Deon and Mooney? First I've read about anything like that.

Need a win tonight, would be a big boost with an away win.
  • We will concede and I don`t have faith in us scoring at the moment so I am saying 1 - 0 to Wallsall.

    Makes sense, but ...

Personally, I think Llera and Sodje could work.
I really can't see it myself, just a hunch but I suspect both might benefit from someone to try to keep them in check, otherwise could be chasms opening up!
  • I have to say i think Llera & Sodje is asking for a clumsy mistake/red card. Would miss Dailly's organisation and experience.
  • As someone said on another thread I think we should try playing Bailey in a much more forward role. He is our only natural goal scorer. I would have a mid field four of Reid Samedo Racon Sam with Bailey playing in front behind Akpo.

Ditto the above: Bailey in the "hole" with his shooting ability is defo worth a punt, thus allowing Racon and Semedo to partner up again in the centre.
  • Scrappy late winner win for us 0-1.
  • 6 or 7 points from the next 3 9 would be amazing should see us just hanging onto an automatic place, defeat tonight and if norwich win and leeds lose to spurs then I think we can focus on the playoffs, less pressure away from home they just have to be up for the fight as we've got quite a tricky run till the end of the season so we need to get on a run as soon as poss.

    2 Nicky Baileys!

    We've got 2 Nicky Baileys!
  • D'oh Burton...
  • thought it was Deon?
  • we've been poor defensively for a while now - no doubt about that - which is making games hard to win as we have to score at least two goals

    when was the last clean-sheet?
  • Walsall 1- Charlton 3

Randolph, Richardson, S. Sodje, Dailly, Basey, Sam, Semedo, Bailey, Reid, Burton, A. Sodje
    Subs used: Shelvey, McKenzie

    Goals: Basey 14' , Bailey 35' and Bailey 69'

    when was the last clean-sheet?

8 games without a clean sheet .... southend dec 5th the last one ... without elliot in goal our chancs of a clean sheet will improve

Have we ever had a clean sheet when Randolph has played in the first team?

What would 'focusing on the playoffs entail? I would imagine we should focus on getting the maximum number of points possible, and if that still isn't good enough for automatic so be it. Do you mean a change an attitude into a side aiming for draws rather than wins away from home etc.?

he(randolph) kept a clean sheet in the fa cup victory at norwich last season in one of his two appearances and our first win for 18 games

Agreed, and I think it's slightly surprising our attacking ability is the area under greater criticism, considering we do tend to score regularly. Obviously we do have attacking problems, but if the back line was shored up a bit then I feel there's enough goals in the side to churn out some results.

So statistically does he have a better record than Elliot? Not making a point just interested.
  • cant see us gettin fookall same as saturday 3-0 walsall im sure byfield will score

  • Elliot
    Omozusi
    Dailey
    Sodje S
    Basey
    Semedo
    Sam
    Bailey
    Racon

    Burton

Yep 4-5-1 We need some passing players in there! We also need as much supply to the forward as possible and this does just that!

    Subs
    Randolph
    Richardson
    Shelvey
    Wagstaff

don't know..... randolphs only started 7 or 8 games for us where as robbie is nearer 50 .... i personally think randy should get a run on the basis i don't think he could do any worse ...
  • 3-0 win to the mighty addicks.
  • Charlton: Elliot, Richardson, Solly, S Sodje, Dailly; Wagstaff, Bailey, Racon, Reid; A Sodje, Burton (GH)

Subs : Randolph, Llera, Basey, Semedo, Sam, Mooney, McKenzie (GH)

Solly in for Basey is an interesting one. Do Walsall have pace down the right or could there be another reason for it? Does mean Bailey will be taking most set pieces.

Very attacking midfield considering we haven't kept a clean sheet in ages.

Good to see Mooney and Sam dropped to the bench, think we need something different which Wagstaff and Akpo both offer compared to them.
  • Sam & Mooney on the bench too
  • edited February 2010
Just looking at the team, it seems that Parky has gone for an injection of pace.

Solly for Pacy-Basey; Waggy for Sammy the Snail, lol

And Akpodje for Rooney, offering power and pace.
That's pace at both fullbacks, pace on both wings.

And with Racon to play CM, we've got somebody to put their foot on the ball there.
