Nice signing, definitely needed an out and out left winger. As Parky says hopefully this will ensure the team has much a much better balance and we can actually start to attack with a real threat again.
Local lad, obviously unsettled Oop North and can't stomach tripe & onions.
Wants to come home, it seems.
Reference to family traumas is a bit unsettling, but maybe all is well by now.
Very heartened by the fact that it's not only us on here that can see what's wrong - and credit due to Parky for going for a pacy aggressive young winger.
Christ on a bike, sam and reid... could be the start of somthing special hopefully, 2 proper wingers at last!! Just hope the boy likes being back home and gives him a massive boost, like the idea of staying beyond august too shows were looking at longer prospects. Must admit at first I thought it was one of the 2 kyles sheff u sold to spurs in the summer but really looking forward to this guy getting a run, if he's fit get him in 2moz don't dilly dally make a point and an impact to get leeds and narwich looking over there shoulders again.
[cite]Posted By: Simonsen[/cite]Hope he's not just a "stand out on the wing and wait for the ball type" We can't have players like that in our team. Hope he's an up and down player who is prepared to go on the outside and deliver, hope he has a decent shot AND a decent work rate. Hope he does well...good luck to him and look forward to seeing him tomorrow (should be an ideal game for him to start in).
In time honoured wing play fashion he can stand out on the wing as long as he likes Simmo....just as long as when he get's the ball he does something productive with it.......!!
[cite]Posted By: Sam lloyd[/cite]There seems to be some discrepancy regarding the spelling of his name, is it Kyel or Kyle ?
Pretty sure it is Kyel, even though it looks wrong. Bit like when people assume Racon's first name is Thierry when it's actually Therry.
Should be a good signing and will help the whole team having a balance down the left, just hope he's got a decent enough all round game and work rate. Hopefully find out tomorrow.
Maybe he'll be a mix between Wagstaff and Sam pleasing everyone...
He's played 53 games (most of them as sub) for six different clubs (including 2 for the palarse), and he can't get into a just above average chumpionship team...
Just another 'go anywhere, play for anyone, journeyman'...
"I'm very happy to be here and I'm pleased Phil Parkinson has given me this opportunity,” Reid told the official website.
"Kevin Blackwell, my manager at Sheffield United, said I could go out on loan, and once I heard Charlton were interested, I knew it was a good opportunity. This is a big club which is trying to get back where it belongs and hopefully I can do my bit.”
"West Ham offered me a new contract but I felt it was time I made a move,” said Reid. "I needed a fresh start and that's what I thought would happen at Sheffield United, but it hasn't quite worked out that way.
"It's a lot different up north compared to London. I'm a South London boy, so it's good to be back in these parts. It was hard at United because I wasn't getting much first-team action. I would have liked to have played more games but it's difficult when the team is doing well as the manager obviously isn't going to change things around.”
He continued: "My aim here now is to play and get back out there and also to progress and help Charlton win promotion. I'm looking forward to it; I want to help the team progress and hopefully help them win promotion. Phil seems to like me and it's good he wants me here.”
"I've had a few loan spells in my career but I'm used to it now,” he mused. "I've travelled from a young age with England so I don't mind. I'm pleased to just have the chance to get out there and play. I'm here for the season but I'm not thinking beyond that and I've still got a few more years on my contract at Sheffield United.”
"I know Christian Dailly from my time at West Ham,” stated Reid. "He's a good lad and I get on well with him. I also know Lloyd Sam and Chris Dickson quite well and I already know Wiggy [head physiotherapist Steve Allen], [sports therapist] Wayne Farrage and [head of sports science] Nick Davies from my time at West Ham as well, which has made it easier to settle in.
"I had my first training session on Friday and it went well. We just did some five-a-side and worked on set-pieces. They're a great bunch of lads here and we're looking forward to the game with Tranmere on Saturday. Both teams need to win so it should be a good game and hopefully we'll come out on top.”
[cite]Posted By: bigstemarra[/cite]Good news - given his background I would say that he is likely to either be a smash hit.......or arrested for GBH outside China White within a week!
Obviously, I hope it's the former.
But credit for Parky to addressing one of our weaknesses (hopefully).
Chinawhite is soooooooooooooooooo last year biggy, it's Funky Buddha these days ;-)

All we can ask is he tries to. At least he's identified it and tried to address it rather than bury his head in the sand. We can't expect miracles when he's only got an old mars bar wrapper and a button in his pocket to bargain with.
On paper looks an interesting signing, but I'd be a little concerned about his match fitness since he only has a few games under his belt this season. I presume that he's had a few reserve team games though.
I think henry was pushing the tongue firmly into his cheek when he mentioned no higher than a 5 due to his background. Anyway, given his background, he might want to move to the ghetto with dicko in plumstead as he knows him already, his reference to dailly as a lad sounds odd too, I would imagine it was a while ago since anyone called him a lad. Good luck to him, hope he does well, bit surprised it has taken until now for parky to realise left wing is weak
I am more worried about him being a left winger to be honest, enough of them on here already to have their own caucus of the socialist worker party without us paying for more to join.

Don't go building your hopes up...
He's a young player that has been out on loan, hardly a journeyman. Mambo has played for our first team and three loan clubs, guess he's a journeyman as well at 18.
Could describe Burton as a journeyman and he's done a good job.
Of course it might not work out but I doubt we could have signed anyone better and it's a position we really needed to get a player in for.
Someone to jump in and get a few players fighting for their place - including himself tbh. If he starts off sheet he ain't gonna find it fun from then on in on the bench and reserves. Just hope he gives 110% and is prepared to be the Sam of the left wing ;-)
We need someone to play wide left so this addresses a weakness in the first team squad, we just have to hope that the reason why he didn't make the grade at either West Ham or Sheffield Utd was down to bad luck and not a poor work ethic.

In fairness Reid was offered a new deal by West Ham but he turned it down so West Ham obviously rated him a bit.
[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]glad steve dowman can recognise irony when he reads it even if dft can't ; - ) .
PP has wanted a left sided player all season. He's not just realised its a gap.
He nearly got puncheon, tried Holden and has now got reid.
Comments
Gillespie, McEverley, Soares, Mooney, A Sodje have all been quite decent on the whole compared to what we got before.
Interesting to see us play with 2 real wingers, Semedo and Bailey break the play up and will hopefully have two out options now instead of just Sam.
Wants to come home, it seems.

Just what we need!
I won't give him more than a 5 in the match ratings regardless of how he does.
Parky out for dropping shelvey.
Unless he goes out on the lash tonight with his old mates to celebrate coming home!
;o)

Nothing like giving the boy a chance eh, Henry!
Not if he watched Mondays game he wont be ; )

There had to be one

Does that make Lloyd Sam a Tory.....?

This could be the signing which gives us options about formations and less one dimensional.
It is certainly better than a triallist from the Non league , Scotland or a player out of contract.
PP has wanted a left sided player all season. He's not just realised its a gap.

Lets hope he gives us more options and a lift.

Are you being sarcastic ;0)
