    lol NSS but not quite.

Threw his toys out of the pram when I and Uncle (who should know) said that he was wrong to say Jon Jo was becoming disaffected.

Shame but it was his choice to leave.
  • I used to very much enjoy Nigels contributions.

That's a shame, didn't always agree with him, but he was insightful and intelligent forummer.

RIP in Peace Nigel W's account.

I used to enjoy his music posts.

He was a music journalist and had written loads of articles over the years from NME to The Times, authored books, etc - and told many stories about meeting and interviewing music legends.

I didn't always agree with his football opinions - but IMO his overall contribution is well missed.
I would like to meet him.

Can only echo most of the above.

Repeated clashed with HI, who routinely dissected his posts. Wasn't always a one way street though, and often came across as two bald blokes arguing over a comb.

You do have to have a certain thick skin to post on these sort of networks, and i'm not sure Nigel has it which is a shame because the majority of us i feel really enjoyed his contributions, and the forum is worse off without him IMO.

I'm sure he is still actively reading, so hope he'll realise it was no more than a mountain out of a molehill and returns from his posting convalescence.
  • Nigel's last post finished with ....."No point in trying to reason with someone who choses to deny the dictionary!"

I miss his contibutions to the music threads and have even bought one of his books "ROUGH GUIDE TO The Best Music You've Never Heard " which I really enjoyed.

And I'd agree with both those paragraphs too.

In the grand scheme of things it wasn't a lot that tipped him over. Shame, because he was one of the best posters on here, but the the internets a hard place, man.

Look through the Charlton v Southend post match views thread.
  • I think the description ''threw his toys out of the pram'' rather sums up why he left.

He walked away quietly and with dignity. There was no no noise, no grandstanding, no recriminations. Merely a brief private note to AFKA as a courtesy , explaining that regretfully he felt his presence had become a red rag to a bull and that the continuation of healthy discourse on the board would be best served by his withdrawal.

Having ''thrown his toys out of the pram'' in this bellowing, juvenile, power-crazed, attention-grabbing, narcissistic fashion, he was never heard from again.

Despite the many kind words here, sadly he won't be coming back because he has found life much calmer and more enjoyable as a lurker on CL than as an active participant.
