Earliest you've left a match. . .

edited January 2010 in General Charlton
I see AFKA slunk out on 63 mins last night....

Earliest I did was at half time v Wolves in the Premiership one Saturday.

I bumped into a mate walking up the West Stand stairs so joined him for a pint and watched it on the concourse TV.....lead to another pint, then bosh we were 3 up at half time (remember those days), didn't bother to go to my seat and went down The Oak! Didn't see a live kick. . . .

The last year we went up to the Prem a mate had a good refereshment got to the turnstiles at Stockport, didn't fancy it , did an about turn and stayed in the pub all day til we came out!

Anyone beat 45 mins?

  • I dont think i have ever left a game early! even colchester stayed till end, i dont like to miss any of the action
  • When we played at Upton Park. We had a midweek game Vs Sunderland. I got there 20 mins in as was training with Charlton youth team and we got away late (we did get free tickets though). By the time we got in I think we were 1 or 2 down and by half time it was 3 or 4 I think so we left then.

    Somewhat wasted evening
  • 90 Mins Loyal for me always even if we are getting stuffed or p*ss poor
  • Game when Curbs resigned on the pitch; didn't even get to my seat, stood drinking at the bar (inside the ground) all game - so in answer - before Kick Off.
  • About 70 minutes Gillingham cup game in there end they were giving it to the charlton fans making smug comments it was freezing enough was enough i left
  • I would never have left early before the Premiership days, not in a million years.
  • Never left before the final whistle myself!

Only time i've thought about it was when we lost 6-1 at home to Leeds! Not a good day!!!
  • Rarely leave early but latest i got to a game was Hull City at home (sellout park) at half time thanks to bus problems that day
  • A season or two back when Sheffield United banged their 5th goal in not long after half time. Maybe 54 mins?

I hate booing so would rather show my disapproval by walking out.

Derby last year. Terrible game, so we got about 4 pints each at half time and watched it under the stand on TV. 2-2 draw. My guts were bad the next day from the Valleys world famous beer, so never again.

  • after we'd been beaten 6-1 at home to Leeds in the prem, I think the following home game was Birmingham, we went 2-0 down after about 25 mins and I left then.

last season was a regular thing leaving early...don't think I saw a final whistle after Christmas
  • Danny Baker did this on his show.

A vicar rang up to say he'd turned up, went through the turnstyle, bought a programme, looked at the date, realised he had a wedding that day so turned around and went home.

He reckoned about 20/30 seconds in the ground.

Can't remember which club it was.
  • Only to get home early and avoid traffic and the like but otherwise i always stay until the end even when loosing.
  • got to blackpool late a couple of seasons ago, we were already two down, left half way through the second when their fifth went in

Barnsley i Believe i herd that one on TS in the summer i think.
  • The Leeds 6-1 game I left at the start of injury time. Just had a feeling it wasn't going to be our day.....
  • i stormed out at spurs away when we went 3-0 down just after half time (suz and curb-it will remember)

sheff utd last season (along with many others not long into the 2nd half)
  • Home game - Sheffield United last season when they went 5-1 up or whatever it was.

Away game - Yeovil this season. Left at half time. I know i missed a spirited fight back but at 1-0 down, a man down and absolutely drenched, i just wanted to get back to the pub.
  • Man City midday kick off - Had flu, and was just slumped in my sseat. left at half time with us one down.
Got home just in time to see our last minute equaliser (Perry ?)
  • I never leave early but was whatever minute Spurs made it 5 1 against us (60 mins?) I walked out. I thought it could have been 10 when I left so was happy to hear it just stayed 5 1.

Also thought it would get me out of meeting a couple of Spurs mates I was meeting after the game.

  • Only tie i can remember leaving early was that 6-1 defeat to Leeds!
  • About 40 minutes away at Yeovil this year, just after Sodje got sent off.
  • Blackpool about 50 odd minutes in when we got whacked for five up there, had a row with some idiot having a go at me leaving as well. I don't think I've ever been so angry in my life. There comes a point when enough is enough and spending money left right and centre going to almost every away game you want to see something back for it, never forget the smug challenging look on his face, unfortunately (and perhaps ashamedly) if he wasn't an old git I would have lamped him. Fuming even thinking about it!

I was stuck in the Blackwall Tunnel and didn't arrive until about 30-35 mins in so we almost crossed paths!
  • Walsall at home in the FA Cup in 2002, we were awful so left around the time they scored their second (65mins maybe). Aside from that a couple of times, have left in the 90th minute but talking seconds remaining
  • That game when Leeds smacked us 1-6 last game of the season. Left 20 mins into the second half. Went to the Oak, it was packed.

Chelsea 1977 ish....got chased by a bloke with a bayonet and a dozen of his mates up the East Terrace, I had to climb out over the Sam Bartram Gates and didnt stop running until I hit Charlton Park...would have been about 20- 25 minutes into the game
  • Leeds at home, left when the 6th went in (81 mins?) That's the earliest I've left.

Before that the earliest I had left was around 87 mins, when Ipswich scored the 3rd in a 3-0 default away at Ipswich, though only reason I left early was I had some mates waiting in a pub outside, so didn't see the point in making them wait any longer.
  • Ah...just remembered Huddersfield this season....I got into the ground, bought drinks in Bartrams and then had to leave as the wife had her car written off on the M25...so didnt actually even make kick off...

Same as us - Walked out just after half time,
