  • Surprised not to see any mention of ‘civil war’ in end of season lists. Thought it was excellently shot and not far away from a future truth.

Kneecap also making my top 3. Fantastic insight into post-good Friday agreement born youth and modern Ireland.

Here’s the ‘Sight and Sound’ top 50 films of the year. I’ve seen 20 of them including the top 3, all of which I was underwhelmed by - La Chimera (3), Anora (2) and All We Imagine as Light (1).

My personal favourites of 2024 are Kneecap, The Holdovers and The Zone of Interest. Outside that top 3, I also really rated Small Things Like These and Thank You for Banking With Us ! (a Palestinian film awaiting UK release).

I loved The Holdovers- good storyline and some great acting.

I thought The Wild Robot was one of the best films I've seen this year - a great piece of animation and a strong storyline.
  • Just watched Carry-On released by Netflix today

Latest Taron Egerton film, who I've been a fan of since the Kingsman films - This one isn't to be confused with the classic Carry On Films, but more of the Die Hard type Christmas film - Starts off really well, and sadly fades off a little bit... Jason Bateman is really good
Just watched it - sort of Die Hard meets Phone Booth.

If you can suspend reality in your own mind it's a decent enough film. Wont be getting any Oscars though!

Is Stranger Things a different film to the tv show?
