The best way I can describe my feelings about Jason Statham movies is that they are a guilty pleasure. Sure they are dumb for the most part but on the other hand they are entertaining. Mechanic:Resurrection breaks that rule. It's still dumb but this time it's really really dull. Statham returns as Arthur Bishop who is forced into carrying out a series of seemingly impossible assassinations to save his girlfriend played by Jessica Alba. The first half hour of this feels like a vanity project. We see Statham and Alba going in and out of the sea , James Bond style , in exotic locations looking like they have just come out of the gym. It's cringeworthy at times. It's obvious that they have both got themselves in good shape for the film but do we have to have it rubbed in our faces? The rest of the film is a series of action sequences with below par special affects mixed with Jessica Alba pulling silly faces pretending , badly , that she is in peril. This is probably the worst thing I have seen Statham do and to be fair I would rather see Harold Bishop than Arthur Bishop if it means me sitting through something like this again.
I liked the first film and in general I enjoy JS films and add in JA and I was looking forward to it.
but this is really awful, it jumps around way too much and the lack of explanation in the plot is awful.
Add in the most pointless cameo by Tommy lee Jones ever, I couldn't wait for it to end.
I also liked the first one very much. Disappointed to know the second is so bad. My mum asked me if it was any good and worth seeing in the cinema last week. I'm now certain that it's not.

Saw Deepwater Horizon tonight. I thought it was excellent
That's nice to know. I absolutely loved the trailer. Also Peter Berg has directed a few great films. So I've been looking forward to this one for some time. I'm disappointed it hasn't been doing well in the box office in North America. I doubt it will break even with such a big budget. Did you see it in 2D or 3D? In order to make more money the cinemas here in China show most foreign films in 3D nowadays. I will have to give it up if I can't find a local cinema showing it in 2D...

I saw it in 2d but can totally see how it would be very effective in 3d. There were only about 10 people in the cinema so it looks like poor box office sales will continue worldwide, although I'm not sure how long it's been out in the UK? Shame as I thought it was very good
Watched Girl on a train the other week not having read the book. I'd give it a 6/10 as the twist was pretty predictable for me. Even a alcoholic Emily blunt is hot though!
Disappointed. Love the first movie, have read the books. This one takes some plot points from the original story, but not much after the first act. The action is much more generic and nowhere near as inventive or witty. I don't think director Ed Zwick has the nous of Christopher McQuarrie, and it really shows. It's a perfectly serviceable thriller, but the last one was so much better... I must admit, I got a bit bored of it by the time the third act started. The lack of identity for the villains is a major problem too.
I watched Louis Theroux's Scientology documentary the other day. It's worth a watch especially if you like Louis. But overall personally I was disappointed. If you haven't watched much on Scientology before then it would be better I think. It pretty much uses the same people who have escaped from the church as a lot of other docs but doesn't go into too much depth.
I would throughly recommend a documentary called Going Clear which is without doubt one of the best documentaries I've seen. Much, much more informative.

Going Clear is great. I watched it last year and there were so many 'what the....' moments for me. Totally mind-boggling. I had always liked Tom Cruise but not since I watched this documentary film. I was surprised to know that even people like Paul Haggis had fallen for this ridiculous 'religion'.
This is the story of Nate Foster, an FBI agent who goes deep undercover within a white-supremacy group in order to bring down the organization from the inside. Daniel Radcliffe is always going to struggle with miscasting comments from critics in his career simply because of his stature and that he used to be Harry Potter. I was determined to give the guy a fair hearing when heard he was going to play this role and believe me i tried but there is no way at any stage of this film did I believe 1. he was in the FBI and 2. he was a white supremacist . It's not a terrible performance , in fact he does quite well but he just doesn't have the face for the role . The closest comparison to this miscasting I can give is when Elijah Wood played a football Hooligan in the terrible film Green Street . While Imperium is nowhere near as bad as that film it is dull and that's not is excusable for film with this subject matter. Give this a miss and watch American History X instead.
Can't believe they've made a film about the tramp and his stupid cat that hang about Covent Garden. Proper annoys me that bloke.
I read his book and found it pretty endearing but a girl I know works for the magazine he sells and another homeless charity, she has a heart of gold patience of a saint but dislikes him hugely.
Which is a shame because I really like Bob the cat

He's a knob head. Loudly tutts and grumbles when you walk over him and his mates stupid rainbow chalk drawings on the pavement that wash off after about 3 hours. Pisses me off.

I'm an Executive Producer on that film!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's the best selling non fiction book of our generation Gary!
Dr. Strange ... I really enjoyed this, brilliant special effects, good storyline and actors. Be careful not to miss the two mid and post-credit scenes.
To say this film is weird is an understatement. I don't think I have seen anything quite like Swiss Army Man and that's not necessarily a bad thing . It's the story of a man who is stranded alone on a deserted island who , while making one last attempt at escape finds a dead body washed up on shore. The body turns out to be useful in so many ways. While I don't profess to really understanding what was going on in this movie there is no denying it's entertainment value. I'm not a fan of Daniel Radcliffe but this is the best thing he has done in my opinion and he's playing a dead man! Paul Dano is excellent too. Although this isn't an out an out comedy ( I think) it did make me laugh at times and it's also sad in places. I've seen this film get rave reviews from some critics which I can't quite agree with it's still worth watching just for the novelty value.

I'm visualising the scene in kill your friends when James corden gets brutally murdered for asking who writes Paul Wellers songs
Nerve is about an unadventurous girl who decides to take part in an online game that involves completing challenges and dares to increase her popularity and add to her bank balance but as you would expect not everything goes to plan. Before I start to criticise this film too much it's true to say that I'm not the kind of person this is aimed at. What I mean is i'm probably 25 years too old to really enjoy something like this. It's incredibly dumb. The story is so far fetched and unrealistic that you just don't buy into what you are watching. It seams to be set in a neon lit world where everyone is 20 years old and where no internet connection is lost , nothing buffers and camera phones are conveniently aimed on every scene but the biggest problem with this is that it's not gritty enough. I wanted see a game like Jigsaw would play in the Saw films but instead we see a tepid watered down version and that just bored me. Unless you 18 years old give this a miss. The best thing about Nerve is the soundtrack .
The Accountant is decent, and the portrayal of a protagonist with Asperger's (in a relatively high-functioning form) is actually pretty accurate if a little simplified; as an autistic person myself it's nice (if sadly a little rare) to see a depiction of an autistic that isn't either Sheldon Cooper or the Rain Man. The performances are good in general albeit the ''twist'' is not actually all that shocking and it feels a little hollow in the end in that very little has actually happened or changed.

Bone Tomahawk. Fantastic film. Very, very well done. Looks great, excellent cast all on top form and about as dark as a western is likely to get. I heard it described as a twisted version of The Searchers which is fair (but far less epic).
I wouldn't advise watching it on your own before going to bed though. That wasn't a good idea.
Went to see the arrival, not your usual America v aliens shoot 'em up, some will find it a bit dull if you're after a action movie, I found it compelling and wanted to know what was going to happen next.

I thought it was well made and acted etc. but not really my cup of tea, films that play around with the chronological order of events are not my thing though I did like the idea as an idea, just not in execution.
Wasn't expecting much and I was pleasantly suprised with what I was treated to. It follows a mildly predictable plot but is smoothly acted and Sly glues it together while letting Michael B Jordan take centre stage. Tony Bellew plays himself
