Good news on both BTW in my opinion. Really hope that CD get's his head down, stops listening to his manager and does the biz for us.
Really pleased about Mooney too.

Charlton boss Phil Parkinson refutes Chris Dickson move
Dickson hit 11 goals in 14 games in a loan spell at Gillingham in 2007
Charlton boss Phil Parkinson has said striker Chris Dickson will not join Gillingham after welcoming him back from a loan spell at Bristol Rovers.
The 25-year-old was Gillingham's top-scorer two seasons ago while on loan, and manager Mark Stimson has made no secret of his desire to sign him.
But Parkinson told BBC Kent: "He's an improved player who can play a big part for us until the end of the season."
Dickson scored four times in 10 games during his three-month spell at Rovers.
Parkinson added: "We could have called him back at any time from his loan at Bristol Rovers but decided against it."
Charlton have also confirmed that striker Izale McLeod has joined Peterborough on loan until the end of the season, while Reading have allowed another striker, David Mooney, to remain on loan at The Valley until the season's end."
Greast news..I presume that he's close to being fit, as I can't see the point in extending his loan if he's going to be out of action for another month or so.
The comment about Dickson is just as encouraging as the Mooney bit imho. Parky has made no secret of the issues which the management have had with Dickson and let's hope they are resolved.
If it's accurate, then I think this is great news.
Dicko has his faults, but as a 'something different' player to bring on in tight games he is a useful weapon from the bench imo and a better option than Mcleod was.
As for Mooney, I really like him. He's not the most comanding of centre forwards and I'm not convinced he's the most composed finsisher in the world BUT his movement is good and he seems an intelligent forward who knows what a forward should be doing and I think he and Burton play well together. He also has that very happy knack of finding space in the penalty area and being in the right place at the right time - by which I mean he gets chances so will score goals despite possibile deficiancies in his finishing.
We may not have a Holt, Lambert or a Beckford but I think with Burton and Mooney we have one of those greater than the sum of it's parts type front lines and two strikers who's work rate makes chances for other players, and that is surely the Charlton way?
And as McLoed has gone I'm pleased to see Dickson stay, not that I rate him highly, but I think he's as good as we are going to get considering our lack of money. If he can chip in with a few goals/assists off the bench then he'll have done his job.
Yeah, I think we'll be working hard to try and do a deal for Akpo. We need that cover in the target man role and he offers us battering ram for games against sides like Colchester. If we get him as well then we have balance, cover and options for our strikers - Burton would still be key imo but we'll do alright with those 4.
I just hope these 'until the end of the season' deals include the play-off weeks, should that be required.

usually dont, but hopefully we dont need that anyway and if you do still no harm in extending, think thats what other teams have done in the past. maybe a gentlemans agreement
I would like to add i would prefer to keep Akpo but unsure how likely it is, didnt his loan end on saturday? whats the situation there? did we extend it again
Happy with that - goals will be key this season so a smany striking options as possible is good.
Hopefully Dicko can push on and score a few goals and finally repay the outlay and hassle he's caused!
Really hope Puncheon can happen as he looks good going forward and on the left -I really like the look of him and think he's very attack minded (though greedy from what I read recently)
Not hugely fussed about centre back as Llera, Dailly, Sodge are all good for this level and Youga / Basey can fill in too and not forgetting Semedo who was immense there.
Great news about Mooney, hopefully that means Parky sees us with Burton and Mooney as first choice with Dickson and Leon off the bench. We may not have a 30 goal a season striker but as a strike force there are plenty of options and alternatives there, Dickson for me would work well with Burton until Mooney is back to fitness. If Beckford, Lambert or Holt gets a bad injury, the other strikers there imo would not contribute as much as the ones we have.
I'd really like to see Leon given a decent chance. Been impressed with him when he's played and think him and Burton up front would be my preferred front two.

I'd like to see him too but he does seem to be Charlton's equivalent of Alan Igglesden when he was playing for Kent. Forever out with a niggle of some sort.
Would like to see Mooney back over Akpo. I like Akpo but part of me is crying out for us to get someone like Barnard at Southend, who is an out and out finisher.
Alledgedly Millwall are the only club to have put in a firm offer Plaaayer, which if true, i'd be gutted if he went there, especially if we ended up having Sam on one wing and Puncheon on the other. I like Akpo but don't think he'll be anything like close to prolific in goalscoring terms.
Thanks mate. Like you, I would love us to get Barnard. I think he could be the perfect foil for Burton, expecially as you say with those two on the wings.

Exactly my thoughts Plaaayer, and Southend fans think he's available for around the £300k mark which i know is a lot of money but really hits home how far things have changed at the Club in the last few years. I know Addick Addict won't like this but i'd try and get the likes of Dickson involved in a swap deal. Here's hoping anyway!
If Mooney stays that is a huge boost. Mooney and Burton starting with Dickson, McKenzie and Tuna as backup is decent enough. If we can sign a decent left winger and loan a centre back then the squad has a good balance.

God that makes me want to weep!!! What is it 2 - 3 years ago that 3300k for a player would be for someone with future potential, how we have fallen.
Amen to that. Really hits it home doesn't it.
Reminds me of the old days when we shelled out a few hundred thousand for players and it was big news - Matty Holmes (250k i think) and Bradley Allen (400k) - remember being so excited when seeing them on ceefax.
And remember when I saw we'd paid out 750k for Clive, i could not believe what i was reading.

Not on OS yet of course.
Pleased to have him if fit but we don't want to be in the postion of paying the wages of someone elses crock!

Bye bye Akpo im guessing then?

Don't know what you mean Henry. It's only as a result of Parky's annual pre Christmas visit to Specsavers that he has, at last, seen the light.
I do agree with you about not listening to his manager though ;-)
