    On Football League show just there a text from a Hartlepool fan. Four of them drove down from monkeyhangerland today and only found out the match was called off when they got to the Valley. Embarrassing.

    Yes I heard that as well......how ALL four of them hadn't heard is truly incredible.....and hadn't they been tuned into Talksport or similar....find it hard to believe to be honest..............but maybe it's true.

    I'm inclined to agree. There is no way FOUR blokes wouldn't have heard it was called off from Thursday onwards. And at the very least they'd surely have bothered to check before setting off.

    Mum tells me 1947 was the winter to end all winters.

    Apparently far worse than 1963 with its deep snow, blizzards and arctic temperatures which lasted from Boxing Day until well into March.

    But in 1947 it was perfectly safe to have 40,000 on the terraces at The Valley.
