[cite]Posted By: Dazzler21[/cite]It's about travel safety rather than the pitch itself.
don't buy all this travel safety stuff to be honest, that is down to individual choice. People know the risks when leaving the house and it is down to them to be making a decision.
Will High Street's ans shopping centres up and down the country that attract 1,000s of people be shut off at the weekend ?

I'm no geography expert, but surely Exeter is further from Norwich than Hartlepool is from London?

Well it's funny you should say that, because apparently shops up and down the country will lose close to £100m this week/weekend as everyone stays at home. Although who comes up with these figures i don't know. They could put 25, 50, 75m and no-one would be any the wiser.
There's also the safety aspect within the ground - it only takes one old fella to slip on icy steps in the stands and bang his head on the ground - and he could be on a mortuary slab.
Then LB of Greenwich Health & Safety dept are all over the club like a rash.
there are people going round leafletting advertising no win no fee advice for people telling them to sue if they fall over and injure themselves.
i was listening to bbc london radio this morning and this woman said that people were standing outside the schools saying that if they fall over then they should sue the school for opening.
afraid its the sign of the times we live in. everyone is scared, and whilst it is up to the individual to decide whether to risk it or not, the club/council do have a responsibility to honour their product (a football match) to those who have paid to see it (st holders) and ensure their safety - if they cant do that, then it can't go ahead.
if greenwich council had perhaps gritted certain roads at the beginning of the cold spell instead of waiting and acting in hindsight it could have been a different story and now because of their actions we don't have a game.
oh well - quite looking forward to tmrw, decorating, gym, long walks, snow ball fighting and cinema.

funny you should say that redhill shopping centre the belfry has been closing at 3.30 everyday this week since Wednesday! ;o)
[cite]Posted By: PL54[/cite]Palace's game is still planning to be on - what can they do with a pitch that we can't ?
It's probably more due to the fact that they are desperate for the gate money to come in this month or they won't be paying their players again. If they can't meet their liabilities on a "good" month, a "bad" one, with say two games postponed and failure to cash in on any playing assets in the transfer window (both will figure in their budgeting) will obviously see the administrators come in.
"Pools have barely trained at their Maiden Castle facility over the last
three weeks and the players were given yesterday off to avoid any unnecessarily dangerous journeys."
They've played outside on only 1 single occasion in the last 3 weeks.
Shame tomorrow's match is off.
If Hartlepools are that lacking in match fitness, it would have been a great time to play them now.

I know what your saying Oggy and i agree but we should have the quality to beat Hartlepool whatever their fitness levels.
Of course, Gary ....... but if Pools went 2-0 down in 60 minutes, they'd not have the stamina/match fitness for a comeback and perhaps be ripe for a 5 goal hammering?

LOL
They had to call it off early, so Nathan knew whether to phone in sick or not.
Last I heard, Nathan's still wandering around Walsall trying to get home.
;o)
for a fiver
And he got lost up the beanstalk.
Also Norwich, I can't imagine the Costa Del Anglia is less snow bound than SE7
