FYI - Trains being changed for tomorrow already.......oh. joy.....

an 5 2010

Snow and ice expected for South East and London
Due to the expected cold weather arriving in London and the South East tonight, Southeastern is introducing a revised timetable to come into effect from Wednesday 6 January.

To help ensure we are able to run the best service possible in these weather conditions, Southeastern is implementing a revised timetable which will provide a reduced service across the Mainline and Metro networks. This will mean a limited number of trains arriving into London before 0900. All High Speed services will run as per the normal timetable.

The revised timetable will be loaded into National Rail Enquiries overnight. However the revised timetable may still be subject to possible disruption due to the weather conditions. All Southeastern ticket holders can use High Speed services while the revised timetable is in place at no extra expense. Tickets will be accepted on London Underground on reasonable routes.

Southeastern will continue to work with Network Rail to ensure the best service possible and it is expected the revised timetable will remain in place until the end of the week. Passengers who are registered at the website are being advised by email and text alerts and posters will be on display at stations.

Extra staff will also be on hand at many stations to help passengers, but we advise everyone to check National Rail Enquires to find out details of the revised timetable before travelling (nationalrail.co.uk or call National Rail Enquiries on 0845 7 48 49 50).

  • This basically means there will be no trains tomorrow. They have obviously seen the Met forecast and are preparing themselves for the worst.

''while the revised timetable is in place at no extra expense''

Oh thanks....SouthEastern, you gotta love 'em.

I'm starting to come round to your 'free travel' plan of action.
  • See, you know it makes sense.

So to ensure the best service, they are reducing the service.

    Riiiiggghhhht.

At least I can travel to Ashford and get on the HS service though eh? F*cks sake.
  • ooo great like last time less train and smaller ones........
  • They've already started cancelling trains from Cannon Street.
  • [cite]Posted By: rhinosvalley[/cite]Numerous problems already occuring due to the problems at Hither Green:

Signalling problems are affecting Hither Green and Grove Park services. Services to Charing Cross and Cannon Street are being affected.

London Buses will pass ticket holders on reasonable routes. And London Underground will pass ticket holders between London mainine terminal stations.

Services between Hastings and Charing Cross are being diverted via Redhill or Hayes

Services between Tunbridge Wells and Charing Cross are cancelled

Services between Ramsgate, Dover and Ashford will be diverted via Hayes

Services between Dartford & Gravesend and Charing Cross via Sidcup are being diverted via Woolwich and Lewisham

There's an hourly service operating between Sidcup and Dartford

The looped Cannon Street to Cannon Street services will not serve stations via Sidcup and will be diverted via Bexleyheath

Services between Grove Park and Bromley North are cancelled

Services between Sevenoaks and Charing Cross will operate half-hourly via Grove Park

    Bollox
  • The city really is pathetic.

    Fixed
  • What exactly are the problems at Hither Green?

too many to mention but lack of a decent boozer is the most pressing

  • I can forgive south east trains if it is due to lack of decent pubs in hither green, been a problem for years. But surely they cannot be allowed under their franchise to reduce their service before any poor weather? The week before xmas they decided they would run a Saturday service as weather was a tad cold. They are playing the shite çontracts they are operating under and whoever put the contract in place should be forced to endure the commuter run. I would imagine the new soft contracts are at the request of the government to ensure they pay maximum possible price for running the franchises whilst they are allowed to keep putting prices up by inflation plus 1%, where will this end? When there is nobody other than bankers or those who can claim expenses who can afford the trains? Will they always be 'restricted to 1% above inflation'. Others might see it as a tax on commuters, I am not as cynical or filled with hatred for this government as them.
  • Well "we" need to do something then Steve.

unfortunately we have to use their services to bloody go to work. I'd love to organise a "no-ticket" week on their trains but it's not going to happen is it?
  • Id love to do something about it too. We just sit and take this yearly increase.
  • The peasants are revolting...
  • If they couldn't run on time this morning, then they won't run at all tomorrow. Sh*t service for £3.5k per year
  • Im sure you were banging on about how wonderful the new service was last year? or was that someone else?
  • Our service on south east to the Kent coast was excellent until the new operator came in. Now they are cynically cutting any service they can to save money. The fact they are doing it tells me the contract KPIs are not fit for purpose and the contract has been let like this on purpose to get the most money from any franchisee and feck the punters.

That's the point, ever since the new timetable it's been crap. Sucker us in to paying the extra then BAM - normal service is resumed!
  • just had a call from my mate who is a train driver for southeastern. Even he can't believe what they are doing tomorrow. Anyway, he has been called in on a day off to help out/cover. They are cutting services everywhere. For example, first service out of Hastings to London isn't until 7.30am and the last train home London to Hastings will be 7.30pm. Elsewhere don't expect to be able to get a train that will get into London before 9am as there probably won't be one.

As said above, year after year we accept a crap service and year after year fares go up to pay for it. Will we ever do anything about it ? What can we do ? Alternative modes of transport are either not available or would take infinitly more time and hence they have us over a barrell. We want to work in London so as to earn allegedly better money then we have to pay for the priviledge. I don't like the French much but if this happened there then they'd probably march on the main stations, barricade them and set fires and boycott until something is done. We need some sort of action but what ?
  • Bikes are the way forward, although not tp good in these conditions. Monday before xmas I ended up going on the train to my place of work in croydon and it took me 4.5 hours to get home, walking from nrth greenwich!

I've only met a few, but yes I can see where you're coming from.

That's the thing Large, the French have got the balls to get off their arse and do something whilst the Brits just sit there and accept their fate and have a good whinge.

The only way that you will/can get the government and train companies to offer an improved service is if there was a huge refusal from commuters to pay for their tickets until services were improved.

What are they going to do, nick 25,000 people at Charing Cross every morning?

Sadly, the British have become conditioned to thinking that direct action, otherwise known as standing up for yourself, is somehow the "wrong" thing to do when, in fact, if done peacefully is the correct course of action to take.

Why would the train companies or government provide an improved service when the mug punters keep paying an increased price for a declining service?

This is for DBLs personal train service. The train company sends a limo to his door to pick him up in the morning, take him to the station, escort him to his private carriage and serve him bucks fizz and croissants during the journey.

But seriously, it's the new High Speed service from Kent to St Pancras using the Eurostar routes.
  • oh ok......

    got ya..
  • no trains on the Hayes to Charing Cross this morning, one train every half hour to Cannon Street, I'm not even going to make an attempt to get in to the office.
  • Got up at 5 20 to make sure I got the 1st train only to discover the 1st train isn't until gone 7 30.

9 trains an hour down to 2, and instead of starting at dartford they start from gillingham, stopping something like 17 stops befor it gets to sunny sidcup.

    Absolute farce
