[cite]Posted By: Oggy Red[/cite]We'd be reluctant to let you have our goalscoring sensation Izale McLeod in exchange for Holt.
But needs must and all that.
And we've also got a fantastic French U-21 full back to swap for Hooligan.
Now you've gone and done it Oggy, for gods sake dont tell him about the tricky little winger we've got that had trials for CL, what was his name........................... Prior?

Of course I won't TCE.
Anyway, he's apparently still in Walsall ..... no doubt on trial there.
A decision will have to be made, but depends on what the judge says.
Meanwhile, if Norwich do miss out on that outstanding prospect,
CL still have the one winger that even Grant Basey can catch.
Change the names and you could have been writing the same summary about Charlton!!
And agreed, it's turning out to be a great "feels like football used to be" season in the Third Division, but one season is enough!
Yes true, we all laughed when Parky got appoointed after no wins in 10 games or whatever it was but he's come good now and you guys were preparing for league 1, long before last season ended and I think that's definitely helped your early season form. I think he's done a great job to turn it around, considoring the turmoil you were in. He must have had a number of fans on his back last season? It's funny, for 10 years all we heard from our board is that we're following the Charlton model, I think we followed for a little bit too long. Actually it's not that funny at all.
[cite]Posted By: Chris_from_Sidcup[/cite]Rumour in todays Sun that Norwich are about to buy Zak Whitbread for 500k from Millwall. Any truth in this?
Really? No first I've heard of this. I do have a feeling we have a little money to spend without having to sell, we've already spent 300k on Macnamee and Martin and I reckon we probably have another 700k or so to spend on a CB and a back up striker. If Whitbread and Barnard come in, our squad is looking pretty decent.
This might become the most exciting January window, we're all going to be hoping the other sells their best players. Hopefully Leeds will sell Beckford on 31st January and will only have time to settle for a Jamie Cureton loan deal as a replacement. I really want Leeds to screw things up again.
btw How is Leon McKenzie getting on? fans favourite?
lol fan favourate no! he has been too injured really to have a fair run in the team. looked ok a couple of times when brought on but not fit enough imho
sorts his fitness out then we have a very good player but doesnt look like happenning which is a shame

I reckon that Charlton followed it for a little bit too long, also.

Now you are taking the p**s, you seemed a nice guy in the beginning ;-)
lol no he was a real favourite here until he went a bit mental. He got the hump with our message board and accused the fans on there of making up rumours of him. There were numerous strange goings on at the time and the rumours had a fair bit of substance behind them

Ohh, please tell !
;-)
In a nutshell DF was sleeping with LM's wife. LM hit DF in training and broke his cheekbone and he had to wear a mask (you may remember this during our PL season). This led to DF leaving soon as the season ended and LM's car being set on fire. Then there were also reports that LM had a mental breakdown over the end of his marriage. Like most rumours there's no smoke without fire but always should to be taken with a pinch of salt
why havent you responded to my' are you going to put this on your forum?' or whats behind you wanting to know the answers directly from us, is it assurances for yourself?

Sorry over looked that question. No particular reason or anything disingenuios. I'm not a spy or an employee or anything like that. Just a fan wanting to talk to other fans to have a clearer picture of how our promotion rivals are getting on. I'm from London (west) but don't know any Charlton fans.
Rumours are that Lambert is favourite now for the Burnley job, if he leaves and if I was a Charlton/Leeds/Colchester fan I would have a tent the size of the eiffel tower
Interesting stuff. I don't get to see too many live games, living where I do, but my overall impression is that its between Leeds Norwich and us. I think a great deal hangs on what happens this month in the window, and perhaps that's what prompted your post. If all three squads were to stay the same, I would say unfortunately that Leeds are out of sight. They have the advantage of knowing this division well by now and had a quiet summer of preparation, while we both were in intensive care. But the Beckford thing could change everything. Many people trace our decline back to Scott Parker's similar behaviour in Jan 2001.
What is the word on your finances though? The problem we had was that too many player contracts didnt have relegation clauses in them, arent you in the same boat? Our board seem to think so. Your attendances are better than ours, but most of our debt is "friendly" debt. I understand the loss of TV money through relegation is 3m. So the final placings could be down to who blinks in the window. Which is pretty sad.
1. What is the financial situation like at the moment? I heard a while back you were in a dire finacial state and admin was around the corner, but not heard anything in recent months - has the situation changed and become more stable?
As others said directors put £7m into the club, should keep us going for a bit longer. Don't think we really were going to go into administration, but who knows, maybe we will if we don't get promoted.
2. Do you envisage having to sell any of your decent players? Shelvey is obviously one, but I think Bailey and Sam could walk into a lot of Champ clubs. Especially Sam I've always thought he was a talent too good for the Champ let alone League 1 - but obviously don't see him week in week out, am I wrong?
Hopefully not, but no one will be surprised if one maybe two go this month.
Sam gets a lot of criticism, but he works quite hard for a winger, gets assists and in this league at least, scores the odd goal. Can't ask for much more from him as someone said. If he was sold or injured for a while we would miss him a lot. Gives us width and is involved in a lot of our chances. His back up in Scott Wagstaff is not ready to be starting regularly, but is useful coming on for Sam and starting the odd game here and there.
Others that might be linked with moves could be Shelvey or Racon, possibly Semedo. Our other best players in Burton and Dailly are very unlikely to go.
3. Who do you fear more us or Colchester?
You, though I'm wary of Colchester.
4. Do you still think you'll go on to grab an automatic promotion spot?
We can but not sure we will. So much depends on how this transfer window goes for the top 4/5 League One clubs, and of course luck with injuries. Also need to be careful with suspensions, especially Sam Sodje. Stupid of him to dive in two footed in the oppositions half.
As for McLeod, no there really isn't a good player in there. Worst player I've ever seen any club spend £1m+. Very limited game much like Dickson, but we only paid £35k for him in comparison. Doesn't help himself either getting 3 or 4 yellows cards all for taking his shirt off, and elbowing a Northwich Victoria player on the halfway line.
Really do wonder if Pardew or his scouts watched him play that closely, I'm sure if several users on here watched McLeod play while he was at MK Dons they wouldn't have recommended him to Pardew. I guess they must have set up the team around him, and they were in League Two at the time.
Wrathofthebarclay - don't know if you'll read this but if so have you any idea how Norwich are funding your new signings (4 already this month) when you've just posted a record loss?
Are directors putting their hands in their own pockets or is someone on the way out?
You seem to be pushing the boat out for promotion this season but what happens if you fail?

No worries. There's plenty of clubs I dislike.

;o)
But if you were proper Charlton, your user name would be, Ohsouth-eastLondon.
So I guess you're Palace.
