[cite]P_Air[/cite]As well as bottles thrown in the Upper North, the other thing that came flying over my head was a crutch!?!
What the?????
Where did it come from and who was it aimed at?
Well I'm mid-way up Block G in N.U, so anywhere in G or the near side of H! Frikkin bizarre. It was when the 2 scummers in the NW were not getting chucked out, a few bottles came over followed by a crutch!
I was sitting north upper block n and seemed like was just behind me although did not see who throw it..... no one got escorted out either, cant believe one of our own fans would do that seroulsy degrades our club as its not wat we're about, maybe expect it from millwall but not us
also thought was funny how millwall fan got pointed out in front of me and took steward a while and they just let him walk out, although after 10mins so he missed a craaking game unlucky!!! lol but dont get how they knew he was millwall as didnt look their ordinary fan and im sure if he had jumped up when they scored a few more ppl would of turfed him out
[cite] It was obvious from kick off that there were a good 30 away fans in block A and when they scored, there was quite a bit of frustration from the home fans around me. It took almost 30 mins for these to be removed and when they did, it was alomost farical to watch them led to the Jimmy Seed to a heroes welcome, only to be led back to the east and escorted away. Before the extra stewards arrived, the usual stewards basically could not give a flying etc, I know they are on low wages and probably don't want to risk being a victim but seriously, I paid my money to sit in the HOME end, with home fans and not feel outnumbered by away fans
sorry to point out but made me chuckle 30 away fans, then went onto say you were outnumbered. last time i checked i thought there were more then 30 charlton fans there? unless they were the clerverly disguised millwall ;-)
I travelled from Cannon Street to Charlton with a few Charlton supporters and when we passed through bandit country the spanners all piled on en masse, some of them were quite pissed, but all we got was some friendly verbal banter and that was it, no fights, no threats, no intimidation of any kind, when we went back after the match it was much the same...
Considering the number of spanners in the ground I was amazed just how little aggro there was, all those anecdotes on here are piddling in comparison to what was expected or predicted. I can remember being 'escorted' from the 'away end on many occasions and we always got a cheer, I can remember 'steaming' into grounds many times, lot's of 'objects' were sent hurtling into the home crowd with little care about whose bonce it landed on and as for some bloke getting a smack in the mouth, well....
I think the stewards and old bill did a magnificant job in not letting small number of incidents spiral out of control resulting in large scale problems. The worst supporters in the country were cut some slack and they responded well by not doing what they do better than anyone else......
If there are as few a number of problems when go there I'll be well pleased...
Back to the original topic, I've received the following e-mail from the club this evening:
We had Millwall supporters trying to gain access all over the stadium. We had to double up all entrances and exits gates and even the Police had to patrol the area immediately behind the South stand to prevent Millwall fans trying to clim over the fences (inc barbed wire).
We were aware of the incident you mention but at the same time were dealing with three or four other incidents at the same time.
You will be pleased to know that we eventually able to identifty these people and they were detained and handed over to the Police during the second half of the game. It was a very challenging afternoon, we even had one of our senior stewards assaulted on the east stand concourse by a Millwall fan being ejected from teh stadium. Fortunately the stewards kept hold of the individual and he was handed over to Police and arrested and charged with assault.
Sorry you had to witness these events, they were not pleasant, but in the circumstances I felt the staff coped admirably under intense pressure.

Hats off to Charlton for getting back to you so quickly - and on a Sunday too.
[cite]Posted By: Oakster[/cite]but hang on they are a cult club with the most passionate fans you will ever see anywhere....
the ones that pee me off the most are the glory-hunters, not following them for any footballing glory or with any local connections but there solely for the glorification of violence
cowards the lot of them, very easy to be the hard man when there are hundreds of like-minded neanderthals there to back you up
They wasn't very hard at West Ham when to a man they were pissing themselves in fear. How many were jumping up and down in the West and East stands at upton park? None because they are cowards. And before all you silly little millwall boys get on here giving it large just ask your proper boys. They have admitted never having seen anything like that before. So your not hard at all,how tough do you have to be to invade family enclosures? You are scum always have been always will be but lets stop pretending your hard. Your just scum End Of
Unc talks sense - SHOCKER! ;-) They struggle to get double of the amount of fans that turned up in Charlton for their home matches, it was their biggest game of the season... Also, if they want to pick a fight then a family enclosure ain't the place, FFS. hope all the wrong doers get found pronto.
The North Upper was bloody loud, but it DOES NOT carry, if you're at the halfway line you would have heard mainly Wall, but I guarantee if we were in the Jimmy seed we would have been as loud if not louder than Wall Saturday.
It's just fact, anyone with any sense can work that out due to the structure and height of the stands.
"PS. Groucho, why are spending so much time on a website your team don't care about ?"
We're allowed to talk, aren't we? Or do you feel more comfortable in a conversation with no opposing views? Besides, i think i'm becoming obsessed with your obsession about Millwall.
[cite]Posted By: charltonkeston[/cite]I didn’t go yesterday and yes it was because we were playing Millwall.
Pubs not open, threats from chavs in and around the ground, also traveling on public transport isn’t the most enjoyable event at this time of year let alone with these morons from Millwall. I don’t need or want it.
To me football is more than just 90 minutes, it’s a social event where I can meet my friends, have a beer amongst like minded people and watch a game of football without the macho posturing of the inadequate.
Did some shopping in the West End instead.
"was at the back of the away end and i thought our support was excellent yesterday. we would never have got the 4th without our support yesterday.we just proved how vital we can be to our team when we want to be!"

pathetic
Why is that pathetic? You pays your money and takes your choice. If someone would rather go shopping, that's their choice - good luck to 'em.
I was speaking to a Millwall fan about this and they were saying "oh every club has it's morons" and I did agree with him that every club did have "it's morons" but to hear comments from Millwall fans that they are happy to push aside anyone in their way including "woman, children, disabled people, war heroes" is something no other team in the country does.
The club is a joke and they need to take a long hard look at themselves!

I wonder how many addicks were denied entrance to the game due to restrictions which seemed to have little effect, and after all that hype and emphasis on safety I must say i was also somewhat perturbed the policing and stewarding for this game was very low profile or non existent

That was a wind up.
It was a wind up, but didn't some of their lads actually end up pushing over a disabled fan in the West to get into the ground ?

Exactly. Sums it all up.
If this was true then its unforgivable. But if you read the spanners post, he was completely over-reacting as to what they were gonna do. He was on a wind up.
Same old Millwall....full of old sh*t. Lets move on and worry about getting promoted.
[cite]Posted By: Chris_from_Sidcup[/cite]Exactly why are people on here sticking up for this Groucho bloke, the same Groucho who's slagging us off on Millwall Online.
He's a Millwall fan, he revels in their notoriety, the same as all the rest of them do.
I find him quite lucid and amusing and can have a reasoned banter which isn't something I can say for every Charlton fan.
He's not said anything on here that I wouldn't say on a Milwall site, so can't whip up any great dislike...

Oi dont be so cheeky ;-)

Blimey Uncle, you're famous lol
Way to go mate, great post.
Happy now?
Ignore him Groucho, he's still a little upset about Saturday.
