[cite]Posted By: Redmidland[/cite]Thanks guys for the updates - having to use my old PC as sadly got made redundant yesterday!!! and Lap top had to go back to work.
This old thing wouldn't let me get on OS site or CAFC player so follwed the mtach on here.
Thanks all who posted ...........at least we won........cheerd up my week !!
Hang on in there mate - Hope something works out for you.
[cite]Posted By: BlackForestReds[/cite]Bailey was scythed down?
Must have been faking it. An embarrassment to the club acting like Drogba...
He got punched by a Hayebaker - he wasn't faking it... (so say the Stockport fans - Carl should have definitely received a red)
Although i do hope he didn't provoke Carl about one thing.....
My spy in Stockport tells me Sam too forever to go off and it all kicked off as a result. No mention of whether Bailey "played up" the incident.
Stockport manager Garry Ablet has said in recent interviews that they look a different side against the better teams. Sounds like we were pretty comfortable in the 1st half and missed a few chances. Defended well in the 2nd and got the goal when we needed it.
Another banana skin circum-navigated. The pitch had the potential to be a big leveller as did our apparent aversion to playing in the north west.
To summarise. That was a lot more difficult than it should have been. Not knocking the lads and the conditions were difficult but Stockport should have been dead and buried within half an hour. Stockport goalie played really well but Mooney missed some sitters today. Approaching half time we took our foot off the pedal and Stockport got going. Same after half time. Our defence were outstanding but had to be.We were sitting back and hitting them on the break time and again (second half) but poor final ball or finishing kept us sweating. Took a great finish from Waggie to give us the leeway we needed which was just as well given what happened.
Great team effort but only Charlton can torture their fans like that!
fair play to chaz and those that went, but it is still a worry that we cant kill games off with so much domination....but well doneto the boys,in the end a great result, lets make sure the home games count...
Yes what a worry. We're clear second and closing in on Leeds. We took the lead early doors and they only pulled one back in injury time.
We're doing better than most in England for holding on to leads. We haven't lost a game this season that we took the lead in.
We've lost 2 league games and it's nearly Xmas.
If Stockport has been a decent team we would have lost, both our full backs were regularly beaten, County had far more of the ball in the middle of the park but they couldn't finish, not that we were much better with Mooney having 4 or 5 good chances in the first half. The outstanding players were Sodge Snr & Dailey. If we continue playing like this some team soon is going to take us apart, let's hope it's not next Saturday.
[cite]Posted By: lancashire lad[/cite]If Stockport has been a decent team
We say that every time we beat a team nowadays, it doesn't matter, it might just be us making them look undecent. We turn up to beat the team, that'll do me.
Have to say although there was a little scare at the end, there wasn't a moment today that I didn't think we would win. We had an air about us of a team in form at the moment and that the win would be fairly routine.
The Stockport wingers weren't bad, and a couple of times went past our full backs, but the stats show that aside from a single passage of play, Stockport carried little to no goal threat. We on the other hand, looked fairly dangerous whenever we were on the attack. Mooney missed a couple, but his running and assist for Waggy's brilliantly taken goal ended up making up for that.
A few players went off the boil for the middle period of the game, but we still had enough to win comfortably and I'll always take that in any game. Thought for the first 35 minutes of the game, Bailey and Semedo totally dominated. Don't think Dailly or Sodje missed a header all game. Basey, Omozuzi and Wagstaff are all improving IMO.

Agree with most of that. Bailey and Semedo didn't totally dominate though, but were always there when someone needed to make a tackle. Wagstaff was poor too imo although his took his goal really well, missed a sitter and was generally chasing shadows all game. Can't fault his work rate, but he needs to learn to channel his energy rather than just cahsing anything that moves like an over excited puppy. He's not being helped by playing on the opposite side to his natural one, mind. That work rate served him well though when he made a lung busting run from the opposite side to get into position for his goal.
We do miss Youga and Richardson - Basey and Omo are reasonably solid defensively but they don't offer the same attacking impertus on the overlap and I think Sam, in particular, suffers from being doubled up on without a runner to take a man away from him.
We won't get promoted playing like we did today every week, but we don't do that and we will get promoted if we keep winning when we do play like it. In conclusion - job done!

Unbelievable. Playing like what - winning? I just can't understand some people. If we can't enjoy winning how ever many on the trot and only losing TWO league games all season by mid December and being FOUR POINTS clear of third place then there really isn't much hope for us, is there?
Just got back after a very long day with the worst part of it been the 90 mins i witnessed at Brentford, Leeds you will be glad to know were very poor and if we dont improve dramatically over the xmas period we will no longer be top of this division. A lot of the lads were still happy we bagged another point away from home and kept the unbeaten run going but after today and the way we struggled against Huddersfield and Kettering i am just starting to worry. Good win for your boys again.

You sure you are not trying to lull us into a false sense of security
No mate we were poor i fully expected to get 3 points today and they just did not perform, Southampton at home next so will see what happens because they will have to be on the ball against them.
My earlier post might have given the impression that I didn't enjoy us winning,I did,I was just giving a note of caution that we had beaten a very poor team and we need to play better to beat the good teams,I'm not saying we can't.
Anyway Off IT I wouldn't be a proper Charlton supporter if I was happy!
Thanks BDL for your thoughts..........i cant copy your quote eiither.....this PC is about 8 years old!!!.......I'm hoping to get back into work a.s.a.p............but not a good time of year.

But we're SIX POINTS clear Off it! I'm enjoying every minute at the moment and although there's a long way to go, a positive attitude by the fans will hopefully be felt by the players and give them an extra boost.
but if we lose the next 8 games we'll be outside the play-offs by Easter. Start panicking now.
We seem to be grinding out results away but scoring well at home. The injured players are getting fitter, the 5 yellows = a suspension become 10 yellow in Jan, other teams are dropping points, fringe players are having an impact when called upon, the loans have been extended and the word is that no one significant will be sold in January.
If we continue our current win ratio for the rest of the season I couldn't give a monkeys if every single one of them is by the odd goal and is "ground" out. 3 points is 3 points.
Was talking to Romford Addick in the pub last week re: Leeds. I still think they'll have a wobble at some point. I also think given their history in this division, that a wobble will play on their minds more than most. If they have a few bad results it'll be very easy for them to panic and start thinking "here we go again".
Having said that I do still believe they will be in one of the top two places at the end of the season.
Big thing for me is that we have played Leeds, Norwich & Colchester away and have only lost once. Ok we didn't beat them but I would back us against anyone in this division at home. 6 points is a healthy advantage, it can be turned round by the chasing pack, but as other have said we aren't at our best, yet we are still in that position. All bodes well.

Understood what you were saying LL. Was there as well. We should have won easier (if Moodey had taken his chances early on we would have coasted it : not knocking him too much because the rest of his game was good especially the pass to Waggy for the 2nd goal). Stockport got their tails up as we tired towards half time on that pitch which also wasn't the best for our more skillful payers. Indeed it was a real 'leveller'. The major plus from the performance was the team spirit and battling qualities shown under pressure. The defenders all got stuck in Dailly & Sodje were great and Bailey & Semedo backed them up awesomely. We will play better against better teams I am sure.
Thought the ref was great. Just let the game flow as much as he could and wasn't interested in all the play acting.
Think the sending off was the result of a bit of 'afters' following an earlier incident with Nicky but as it all kicked off at the other end of the pitch can't be sure.

I didn't expect us to catch up ground on Leeds and drift further away from Norwich today - but we did!

Yeah, but Leeds have only lost one ...... not good enough. Parky OUT!

just couldnt keep my eyes open... Norwich falls back, Leeds cant do what we did at Brentford......
Great start to my day!!!!!!
COME ON YOU REDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes you reds.... your the reds, my reds!!!!!
