nightmare news , just heard darren bent is out for a minimum of 6 weeks and in 4 weeks time we'll find out if it's for the rest of the season, his knee ballooned up after the villa fixture. After all the hope given since Pardews arrival i fear this will condemn us to relegation. Now we're gonna have to keep JFH and marcus , we'll have to bring someone in but no one will be able to replace him....NIGHTMARE!!!!

    He got the injury in the 1st half and kept playing on.

    When they brough Jimmy Fatarris on I thought they were taking him off.

    AT LEAST WE HAVE KEVIN LISBIE.

    can't reveal where from but you'll hear it soon enough... at least he wont be sold in the transfer window and JFH looks like he could do with losing some weight for the new year and falconwood's right that young prospect lisbie is due back;-)

    Thankfully none of you are managing the team. Marcus plays well as a lone striker and did a good job in Everton's most recent successful season (one b4 last?). He is now wroking hard and teh goals will come, though less prolifically than Baby Bent's ratio admittedly. The transfer window is OPEN!!

    We are finding form and Pardew will adapt the team in light of this situation. Have faith! It is a blow if accurate, but not desperate. We will play 4-5-1 at the Emirates now I reckon with Reid or Hughes coming in for D Bent and will make their under strength team's life tough. We will be good for a point!

    If Arsenal play as badly as they did at Watford & Sheff United we can get a point.

    Our problem tomorrow is we have no-one in Midfield who can put their foot in. Fabregas went missing at Sheff Utd when put under pressure.

    Our problem will stopping the runs of Gilberto through the middle.

    It's more than a blow if DBent is out for more than a few games, MBent wont score in the Prem.

    Watching the replay of the game on Sky on Saturday night it was obvious that Darren Bent had jarred his knee ligaments when he landed awkwardly after getting a shot in during the first half. You could also see that he was limping quite badly for the rest of the game. He is bound to be out for some time now, unfortunately. I am sure that Pardew will now have to go and buy a new striker as Marcus Bent & JFH will not be able to score the goals we need.

    thanks benty for for being so bloody good up to now. at least as has been said he won't go anywhere now. really bad news but maybe this will force the purchase of another striker and shake things up a bit for the hanger's on.

    Let's not be too hasty on this. There has been no official word yet and I can't find any trace on the web of this story. Don't forget Benty went down before half-time with this knock and still played the rest of the game so he must have had a half-time check-up from the physio.
    I doubt if they would have sent him back out there knowing he had done anything major.

    Until this is on the OS I won't believe it

    If true the club must be keeping it quiet so that they can source a striker without other clubs knowing and upping their price knowing we need one and this must be on Pardew's orders I reckon.

    All speculation at the moment

    Otherwise why haven't they just announced it.

    A club spokesperson wouldn't have commented like that. They are reading Charlton Life or NetAddicks to source their stories now I reckon. Very poor journalism. How none of teh press have picked this story up properly if it is true is beyond me.

    I think you are completely right Arfur and maybe a deal will be closed today for a new goal poacher. Still believe we could pick something up tonight with my new found optimism.

    Someone in the press/media picked it up earlier - it was on the 7:30 news on Virgin radio this morning.

    I was at training ground yesterday morning and got there as Benty turned up on crutches.This is definately true.As previously stated we are probably trying to sign someone before it is made public so the asking price doesn't go up with them knowing we are desperate.

    It really is not our season this season, what is the longest Bent has been out of the team before, a week ? This could really be a problem for us.
