Today's result ... like the opening six matches of the year ... shows what is possible.

Northwich Victoria, and Southampton in the paint trophy, Colchester, and the general malaise of the past eight weeks, is why supporters get so frustrated.

Consistency is what will earn promotion ... not getting too high after excellent wins like today or too low after very poor performances and results like happened just six days ago.

AA...you wern't at The Valley mate...fer Christ sake let us wallow in the glory for a few days before the serious stuff!
  • its a forum people voice concerns as well as the happy times like today.
  • Get F*** in!

Loved it, and I look forward to Suicide Steve and BooAh views

How many people are logged in and posting now?. How many were going beserk after the last two games?.

I have no problem with people moaning about poor performances, but some of the crap posted on here over the last few days has been way OTT. Will these same people offer any praise for today?. No they won't, they will wait for the next blip and start spouting the crap again.
  • fair point clem, think we played with a passion today, second half we outplayed them, sam who is not my favourite got about the pitch and crossed some decent stuff into the box, think mooney tries hes heart out,and sodje is what its all about regarding wearing a cafc shirt. we need to push on and go into the millwall derby with confidence,im not at all convinced but today we can celebrate a great team perfomance.
  • Absolutely.

Really pissed me off all the doom and gloomers who were moaning after two cup defeats.

    Here are the facts:
    1. The cup defeats will be beneficial in the long run.
    2. We are still unbeaten at home.
    3. Even including away games, out points per game ratio will be enough to get us promoted.
    4. Most people were predicting we'll struggle in this league and thinking that we may scrape into the playoffs AT BEST!
    5. Parky does know what he's doing and and no, he doesn't get his changes from this blog. Bailey into the middle, two upfront, the players rested in the cup looked fresh.
    6. Loan signings are not ideal but essential but it's not like he has a wealth of resources at his disposal. Playing Youga at right back isn't ideal but sometimes essential as being a League One side, we wont have quality back up in every position.

Probably my last post in this forum. I'd rather read the bias OS than the moaners.
  • Did I miss something ? Do people not think we've played terribly in the several games prior to today or does everyone think we played well ?
  • I think we all know football fans are fickle, a few bad results and it's the end of the world sack the manager, a good win and everyones thinking about going on a ten game run and promotion.

Everyone has their opinion and are free to speak it, praise or moan.

Well done to the lads today, they now need to stay grounded and work as hard for the shirt every week.

''...whov'e crawled out of the woodwork these last couple of weeks...........kindly crawl back in!! ''

Sorry but that's pathetic and just reinforces why some of us stopped posting over the last week.

Those sort of sentiments are as puerile as all the offensive cap-lettered f-ing and blinding we had after Carlisle/Northwich/Southampton.

I hope when AFKA called for people to stop the petty point scoring, he meant this sort of thing as well as the OTT rantings of the moaners.

So we've won one game after a pretty dismal run. I'm elated - we were great today and there's a spring in my step again tonight.

But say we lose the next game. What happens then ? All the 'doom and gloom merchants' come back on here and say 'see, told you we were right, you bunch of head-in-the-sand, rose-tinted fools' - and we descend yet further into the kind of yah-boo name-calling nonsense that reduces Charlton Life to SE7's equivalent of Prime Minister's Question Time --- and before you snap my head off, I've already posted my (very positive) views in the post-match thread.

Just give it a rest and enjoy a great win (and I mean the real victory over MK Dons, not some pyrhhic one over other posters on here!)

    [cite]Posted By: nolly[/cite]what a silly thread

    Explain?

Incidently...it's that silly that you've managed to post in it three times..doh!
  • Nolly sagely said : ''what a silly thread looking to get a rise when it was posted''

Exactly! Every bit as bad as the other cap-lettered lot...
  • just had a quick google on what MK Dons sites there are.......Very very familar discusion to us a couple of weekends ago. "This has shown us up for what we really are" "we have been flatering to deceive" "we will be lucky to make the playoffs" "IF we go up we are not good enough for the Chumpionshit"..................................football fans are indeed a very very similar bunch!
  • yes ive posted on it to talk about the perfomance ignoring what you was hoping people would do,after the best win this season its you posted the first negative post, telling half our support to crawl back into the woodwork. pipe down
  • Have we been playing with passion, skill and tactical know-how for the last few weeks ?
  • he is looking for a rise mate.

Oh you think so do you, well I couldn't possibly disagree with you more, my post was directed at about half a dozen or so who have made this board a somewhat unneccesarily gloomy place for a while and they know who they are...what is pathetic about supporting The Lovely Red Boys in a positive fashion...I'm not a gloom and doomer or overtly a everythings rosy merchant either...I've simply been around for over 52 years at The Valley and I've seen it and heard it all before.

How is that puerile? He's not directing it at those who post negatively but constructively, he's directing it and those who have been relishing signing up to f and blind as you say, and now hopefully will go away. This isn't a ranting board, it's a discussion board, and I have no qualms in hoping those who are furiously OTT to either tone down, or to leave.
  • Well Sussex_Addick , let me simply refer you to another Sage of Sussex and quote the wise words of the fella who used to live in your county in the village of Burwash, in a house now turned by the National Trust into a wonderful museum to Kipling and his works:

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same....

The sage Curbishley used to say something very similar , too, albeit in words somewhat more prosaic...

All of you shut up and celebrate today's win get sh•t faced!
  • Burwash...the home of Roger Daltey too.

Yeah, but if we're all out getting sh*t-faced, that means we can't be posting positive thoughts on here. Then it will be said that we never come on here to herald a great victory but only come on here to moan when we lose !!!!!!!!!!
  • ''Burwash...the home of Roger Daltey too.''

Indeed, And of forum member Nadou, who has gone a bit quiet on here lately. Nadou - come and tell us how much you enjoyed today's win!
  • Can't believe how a quite innocent post directed at about half a dozen (at the most) posters has been high jacked...I'm sure if I hadn't expressed the sentiment that someone else would have in due course...I'm a bit surprised at some folks comments as I hadn't meant to cause such a reaction!
Well enough is enough I'll leave it....UP THE ADDICKS!!
