Advice For Mr Clueless......Read This Parkinson

edited November 2009 in General Charlton
1. Just to let you know Phil that the whole point of a 4-5-1 formation is that you play through the midfield and take advantage of the extra man. That way you have more possession and utilise the poor lightweight striker in a more productive way. If you are going to play the long ball because the players dont have the ability to pass it to each other (it is their job after all we cant expect miracles) then you may as well go 4-2-4.

2. Probably not the best move to leave out the best player and club captain. Maybe that was a clue as to why there was no sign of any leadership on the pitch

3. Equally not as sensible to leave out one of the few players who can bring a touch of magic and class to the midfield Racon. Again not just from the starting 11 but from the whole squad. Also remember he scored probably one of the best goals of his career at Southampton last season

4. Dont feel that you have to give every tom, dick and harry a game. Its not kids football, baseys dad wont have a go at you if you dont play him after paying his subs.

5. Just to advise you also that its also probably also not the most sensible move to take off the only player who looked capable of creating anything with a 3rd of the game left.

6. Curious to know why you dropped Randolph after he made several worls class saves on Sunday

7. Mckenzie is a centre forward not a left winger

8. Bailey is a centre midfielder not a left sided player

9. Youga is a left back not a right back

10. Holden i believe is a left winger not a right winger

11. Sam is a right winger not a left winger

11. Shelvey is playing too deep

12. Semedo is playing too far forward

13. Finally as a manager you dont need to impersonate a statue on the touchline. Its ok for you to ocassionally move your arms and mouth and give instructions

14. Resign before you totally screw up our entire season

  • What a joke Parkinson is, was he trying to play as many players out of position as possible, Youga at right back, Sam on the left, it seemed like Shelvey was trying to play the holding role, then he brings Holden on and puts him on the right after 5 minutes and plays Mckenzie on the left. Also why the hell is he playing Basey what a shocking player he is, slow, can’t pass and dreadful from set pieces. Why take Sam off when Spring and Shelvey were clearly worse. He clearly has no clue what so ever and has the cheek to say we battled well all over the park get him out now!
  • Well said i dont think Mooney was effective at anything today i know he got poor service but when he got it his distribution was poor and he seemed to fall down alot
  • You're fucking useless and clueless Parkinson. Do us all a favour now and fuck off - and taking your useless loan signings with you.

    PARKINSON OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • mr choice dj got there before most of us

bailey plays lw on a sat and is prob the best cm player in the league

tonight Sam a RW playing LW

took him off instead of Wagstaff ?? put on Holden who i thought looked a positive player good delivery ??

mckenzie rolls on for wagstaff and plays LW who is a CF
Holden a LW goes out right side

spot on with jono looks down in the dumps looks low

    basey looks over weight

what was kelly youga doing for the goal

burton and mckenzie to start sat

mooney jog him off back to reading ill even give him the train fare

we have no balance to the side on the flanks

please parky i am asking you really nice p*** off resign get steve coppell
  • Thanks for updating me on the post match interview, id switched it off by then.
We look like we have no clue, no ideas, there was no reaction to Sunday but as long as the players get their undeserved wages then thats fine.

btw i think Pardews doing a great job at Southampton, maybe he wasnt the problem at Charlton. Maybe when Curbishley went the club inserted a claus into the managers contract to say that "from here forth all managers must display absolute stupidy at all times and give the impression that they dont know what they are doing" in which case they have all succeeded.
  • get shelvey out of the team, off the bench aswell. Think he is much better than what he really is.
  • Ok so I've read this all and see hardly anything I agree with!

I'd best be off before I start something!
  • I know just what we need... ANOTHER MANAGER!

    That's definitely the answer.

Chopping and changing with Dowie, Reed, Pardew really served us well
  • Actually what we need is a MANAGER
  • [quote][cite]Posted By: Swisdom[/cite]Ok so I've read this all and see hardly anything I agree with!

start something then, thats what we are here for. So you disagree that virtually half the team were played out of position and you think Parkinson appears to know what he was doing. Are you sure you disagree?

Yep, clearly Scott Minto was being ironic...
  • And do you disagree that playing 4-5-1 means you are supposed to actually play through the midfield
  • get shelvey out the team? what a silly remark.
  • Who are these new posters?
  • We need a manager with no connections with the club Reed was no 2, Parkinson was Pardew's no 2, Pardew was an ex player and Dowie was just a pathetic choice by the board. Steve Coppell all the way
  • name me one thing he has done well the last few times you seen him play?? all i seen him do is shrug his shoulders when he he doesnt get the ball perfectly to his feet or in his path.

As rants go, i'm afraid the Grimsby effort wins hands down.

    6. Curious to know why you dropped Randolph after he made several worls class saves on Sunday

Er..because he was at fault for the goal and Ikeme is a better keeper

    [cite]Posted By: choice DJ[/cite]

    9. Youga is a left back not a right back

    10. Holden i believe is a left winger not a right winger

Either of them didn't do too badly there tonight, and it was Youga's shot that lead to Holden crossing from the right for our goal
  • Phil Parkinson makes Andy Nelson look like Arsne Wenger (sorryGH)........we are negative and clueless,
  • [cite]Posted By: choice DJ[/cite]1. Agree with that!

    2. Bailey has been well off the pace foe a while and is a crap leader

    3. Racons been crap lately needed a rest and got one

    4. Basey played pretty well. In case you hadn't noticed we have a few injuries at the back!

    5. You and Minto are the only people who think Sam is great

    6. Randolph made 1 great save. 1 good save. And was badly at fault for the goal
    7. Mckenzie is left footed and we didn't want to leave midfield too light. Needs must and all that

    8. Bailey scoredany goals from the left last season and gives the ball away far too much to always play CM
    9. Youga is a full back that can play on either side. Just as well as our 2 right backs are injured

    10. Holden is a winger. Needs must. Set up the goal from right wing

    11. Sam or waggy - they were the options. Sam more experienced so played left wing

    11. Shelvey is playing too deep. Just had a very bad game

    12. Semedo is not playing too far forward - he's holding, as asked by PP

    13. Couldn't care less if you jump ip and down or stand statuesque - as long as the players know what they are doing.
    14. Stick around but give us something to cheer about soon!

  • shelvey is not playing in the right postion and is not getting service,if you want to pick on a player pick on that grinning twerp sam, shirks tackles, and does not get enough crosses over
  • I've defended Parky a lot of the time when his decisions actually make some sense. Was confused tonight though, reminded me of Pardew's last few games when he was getting desperate for something to click (throwing in Josh Wright, Cranie behind Basey on the left side etc).

If Holden's going to get a chance at least put him on his natural side, his best position.
  • we have to ditch this 4-5-1 lark now it's simply getting us nowhere. Should definitely have brought someone on to partner Mooney at half time, we were very unlikely to pull one back with just the one up top so why wait until we've gone 2 down before doing it??
Parky said after the game it was only when we brought on Burton and McKenzie that we threatened the goal - so play them earlier FFS!!
  • [cite]Posted By: nolly[/cite]shelvey is not playing in the right postion and is not getting service,if you want to pick on a player pick on that grinning twerp sam, shirks tackles, and does not get enough crosses over

Getting crosses in wasn't the problem. Sam is pretty one footed, and for most of the time he was on had little to aim for. Start him at right midfield, play two strikers, get the likes of Shelvey, Bailey and Racon, whoever is playing, joining them in the box and he'll put some decent balls in. Hasn't got a great cross but his crossing isn't as poor as suggested at times.
  • 1. Your point about playing 4-5-1 - the idea is to play the ball to the striker who'll hold it up for the midfield to run onto. That didn't happen tonight so Parky changed it after the break. Unlike Sunday he was prepared to change his mind and do something when Plan A wasn't working.

    2. Leaving out Bailey - why shouldn't he be rested? He's played with an injury recently and looked on Sunday that he needed a break, not another game.

    3. Racon...ditto, he needed a rest and why not in the JPT?

    4. Giving every Tom, Dick and Harry a game...eh?

    5. I agree he should have kept Sam on, but in most games recently Sam has been subbed around the hour mark. I suspect he too is carrying an injury. He just doesn't look right to me and certainly hasn't been playing as he can/did earlier in the season.

    6. I'd have played Randolph, but I don't think that Ikeme is a bad keeper. He should have saved their second. But then Randolph should have done better for NV's goal on SDunday. On balance I'd rather we played our keeper and Randolph deserved a second game. Still not a bad match to miss.

    7. I think we seemed to play 3 up front with McKenzie playing in an attacking left sided role. Whatever he scored so maybe playing him there worked?

    8. Err Bailey wasn't playing...

    9. So Youga isn't a RB, neither is Omosuzi and JPT rules are that you must play at least six of your players who've played the most games this season. Presumably that forced Parky's hand somewhat with McLeod suspended, Richardson and Elliot injured etc. Plus this allowed him to rest Bailey and Racon ahead of MK Dons, besides that Youga kept Lambert quiet other than the goal he didn't do a great deal. As a one-off it worked.

    10. Holden looked ok on the right and created our goal...anjd if he'd taken a second touch could have scored one himself.

    11. Yep, Sam plays on the right but was hardly doing anything to suggest that moving him would be a mistake. Perhaps knowing that both Wagstaff and Holden can play on the right might just make him find the form he showed earlier in the season.

    12. If Semedo played any deeper he'd be in the back four or the English channel.

    11. Shelvey is the link man with the midfield, if they play deep then he has to, otherwise he's in no-mans land.

    13. Yep, his body language and communication skills could and should improve.

    14. Great, get Parky out and get who in to replace him? And what money will he spend? And in two weeks we'll be sacking this manager and a few weeks after that the next one will go and suddenly the manager's job at Real Madrid will look a bastion of job security.
  • Can I just throw in an observation which is neither for or against Parky. What I think we are really missing at the mo is Rob Elliots distribution (throws), this generally encourages the team to play on deck thru midfield, with the keeper lumping up it through the field we get nowhere, Elliot seems to be quick minded and accurate with his throws.

    A good point.
  • especially for 11 o clock on a school night :-)
  • The comment of the night came in Pardew's post match interview. When asked what the key to Southampton's recent success was, he replied that the crowd was fully behind him and the team. "And that makes all the difference." How right you are Alan. Reading some of the drivel on here tonight and it is easy to see that there is very little chance of such a situation ever being repeated at Charlton.
  • Swisdom - I agree with alot of what you have said above mate but no way did Basey play pretty well. He was dreadful.
