It's the right decision, but I very much doubt he would've been banned had the game not been on television, which is unfair. For all the FA know, there could have been elbows like that most matches this weekend, but because there wasn't any cameras around to pick it up, those players wouldn't receive bans. If the referee missed it then it should have been left alone. Not a fan of trial by television days after the game. Just to make it clear - I am not condoning Mcleods actions.
there are cameras at every league game every week and I'm sure they'd highlight such incidents on the FL Show on BBC if they were as blatent and cynical as that. No sympathy, we should have acted first.
Agreed, Red Robin. We see elbowing go unpunished frequently in matches, and rarely is there post-match disciplinary action.
It does appear there is one ruling applied to ordinary matches ..... and another applied to televised matches.
So some players only get punished if the game is televised - and the offence highlighted and made the focus of after game discussion.
However, no real complaints from me. McLeod should have been red carded during the game.
This at least gives most of us what we wanted, a team without Mcleod in it. Be interesting to see if we miss him or if any of the others grab their chance in the next few games.
[cite]Posted By: Elthamaddick[/cite]can we launch a 'frivolous' appeal and get it increased ?
:-)
Visions of Parky turning up in a tight purple suit and a topper with a great big carnation to plead that Shizzle is of previously good character.
I'm sure that the lad's previous good conduct (47 yellows and 5 reds) would be taken into account. Or were they all for taking his shirt off after scoring?
Yeah McLeod deserves that 3 game ban but also think of what the other guy said for McLeod to lash out in that way? For all we know he could of racially abused him and that gets unpunished while McLeod gets a ban, have to agree that would of been missed if our game handn't been on TV. Can't understand people celebrating that he isn't in the team, ok his last 2 games wern't great but which of our players were? Before that he was playing well scoring a few goals, whether you like a player or not you should still get behind them whilst they are a Charlton player. Oh and to those of you who are saying horray we can now have Burton/McKenzie/Mooney upfront I have to ask where's the pace?
Don't care what anyone may or may not have said, it was unacceptable full stop. I'd nurtured hope that he would 'come good' so big dose of humble pie for me. Not at all happy, lost a striker, no-one will want to buy/loan him so yet another big black hole in our finances. As a matter of interest, can the club fine him hefty amounts?

Mcleod could appeal on those grounds if that was the case however it would not hold up!
Utter tosh and speculation. If it happened Charlton would be the first to lodge a complaint. Mcleod was tugged and reacted, it didn't look anywhere near as violent as people made out but intent was there. One positive about Mcleod is he keeps trying, and one negative is that he get's a little childish if things go wrong for him - but unlike say Dickson he keeps trying.
I think it is a positive for the club. Mcleod isn't really a lone striker, and is a King dunce when it comes to running angles off the ball; worse than that an absolute waste of space at creating space. If we play two up top our inherit weaknesses and often lethargy in midfield need two competitive players that the ball sticks to. Let's see Mooney and Mckenzie if he's fit.

He deserves it though, shame he didn't break his elbow in the process as well.

LMAO! ..... what, then sell him in January?
who would buy him....we'll never recoup the outlay on him that's for sure !
I don't see why not ..... and bring McKenzie on for the last 25 mins.
He'll need gradual match practice.

Deserved certainly. His own fault, yes but not going to join in the party to celebrate.
Mooney and Mckenzie or Tuna with Burton on the bench for me.
Still think we will see a Kandol/Iwelumo type player arrive sooner rather than later.

I suspect that they may not have done.
McKenzie and Burton up front now.
