Genuinely thought at the start of the season that we had the best midfield in our division, but in hindsight perhaps that was because we were up against teams who gave them the time and space to look pretty good.
Recent results and performances - capped off by today's disappearing act by Racon in particular - are very worrying for the rest of the season.

A lot of people on here were suggesting that his introduction was what won us the Huddersfield game. The last time we've looked anything close to a decent team.
There's a lot of frustration on here (and I share it), but other than the centre halves and the keeper there's not a player on the pitch that didn't let themselves and the club down today. Much as Vics put in a good performance they are a side that our reserves should be able to deal with. It's difficult to pick out individuals.

They can play good football at this level, and are all decent players in the right team, but together its showing that they are never going to dominate in this league every game.
[cite]Posted By: bingaddick[/cite]My take on Racon is that he is class when he fancies it. He went to Brighton on loan a couple os seasons ago. He was great for the first few games and then he stopped. I just think that's where he is now.
Agree with that. Shame because he's a talented player, but it seems he's now got his place and doesn't want to keep playing to the level he can.

Bailey's adventurous side has been stiffled by the need to hold whilst Youga gets forward. The player who has been least effect in recent games, in my opinion is Sam. He is a shadow of the player we saw against Tranmere and Brentford. As for Jonjo, well he should never have.been dropped. He is the one player in our team capable of making something happen.
I agree with all of that. We should be doing all we can to play through Jonjo except our midfield is too often found missing hence he's droping further back, creating an even bigger gap between him and IM/Burton.
I only watched the game on TV and have not seen a live game this season. But in my opinion we lost it in midfield, particularly central, although Semedo was marginally better than the other 3. The original forwards Shelvey and Mcloed didn't have a chance, barely a ball played to their feet all afternoon. Shelvey showed skill and guts the few times he got he ball, and I felt that our "senior" pros let NV bully Shelvey. He is 17 ffs.
I think Mackenzie looked good when he came on as did Wagstaff. I expected us to lose (we always do in the cup), but the performance was dreadful. And why weren't we wearing red?

Youga was okay(ish) today too. Far from his best but would be a bit strong to say he let the shirt down imo - he was one of the very few who at least tried to give us some attacking thrust.
Agreed, I thought Mackenzie looked decent on and off the ball. Has something about him a bit of flare and energy. Brings something different to the table.
Er we don't have the best midfield, we have some of the best midfielders shame they're not the best unit. Every single one of them needs another player with a bit of presence/game intelligence to drag them up the pitch. Unless it's the perfect click they all look for others to provide the drive or platform.... apart from Bailey but he still lacks tactical accuity.
I'm not surprised in winter, and when players start to struggle they haven't come to the fore. Having said that with our weaknesses we can still challenge for play offs. Let's get behind the team and be positive from the off at the next match.
Thought Semedo was shocking. He is meant to be our defensive midfielder breaking things down and then passing the ball to another one of our players, he played the ball out about a dozen times.
