  • From BBC:

On-loan Charlton keeper Carl Ikeme was refused permission to play by parent club Wolves, so Darren Randolph makes his first appearance of the season.

Another loanee, Reading striker Dave Mooney, is also ineligible while Leon McKenzie and Frazer Richardson are ruled out with thigh injuries.
  • Think we'll nick it 2-1. I would play Tuna and Mcleod up front and put Basey in at left back with Youga as right back, pick from Sodje, Llera and Daily (I think he could do with a break) and have Shelvey, Wagstaff, Semedo, Bailey in the middle of the park. Lets see how this works, we should have enough there to win the match.
Burton needs to have his operation so lets hope it gets done now. We need a good result to get back to winning ways..... this match should provide that.
  • Giant killing on the cards
  • Looks set for a difficult game and an upset possible. But let's be positive and go for 2-2 (we score a late equaliser)
  • [cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]FAO dorsetgreen - there is NO extra time on Sunday.

I know. I meant in the replay at The Valley a week on Tuesday. :)
  • 1 - 1 in a scruffy game we could easily have lost.
  • We should give the U18's a run out as they seem to know how to win cup ties!

Like others think a few will be rested with the likes of Llera and Wagstaff given starts. Shelvey is a must.

Going to be a slog (heavy pitch) with all the rain they are having in the North West. Don't think we will lose but a draw wouldn't be a surprise (for any of us I guess). A narrow win though I think.

Heavy pitch? Not a chance. Sand based, it would have to be rain of monsoon proportions to cause any grief. ..... Now the Drillfield, our old ground .... well that would've been a different kettle of monkey's altogether.

Good to know. Hopefully help our cause but wouldn't bank on it!

  • I think a squeaky bum flattering 1-3 or 1-4

1-2 for ages before a late one to seal the deal

cup tie played in good spirits and we forge a great friendship with northwich off the back of it
  • bulletin says "Charlton take on a non-League club for the first time in 30 years on Sunday"

    Daggers?
  • Us to win 2-0, goal in each half. William Hills offering evens on charlton
    half time/full time.
  • Very interesting Parky thouights at today's press conference - we're going to be utilising the whole squad over the next three games, apparently, so who knows who will play in the cup games?

No mention of Burton having his hernia seen to, so I think he will play Sunday. Despite the BBC report to the contrary, it seems McKenzie is fit and travels, so I would expect him to make the bench.

Richardson travels, too, so if at all possible he must play. If Parky wants another look at our trialist full-back, the JP is the more appropriate place for that.

If he keeps two up front, it's a struggle to fit everyone into a four man midfield.I'd like Wagstaff and Shelvey to start, which means Sam drops out and only two out of Semedo, Racon and Bailey can play. Spring also deserves to feature, possibly coming on at h/t if we're coasting ...Basey also deserves to play.

Nice problems to have and the squad is actually bigger and stronger than is sometimes suggested.
  • Youga must play.
  • Fancy a draw and replay at the Valley, mind you that would be a bugger, I've just ordered my rovers tickets
  • It has stopped raining up North and no more is predicted before the match.
The pitch is immaculate - I think you will be impressed by how good our playing surface is. You Addicks won't be able to blame the state of the pitch come 3.15 on Sunday afternoon!
Seriously, I hope you don't win by too many - I'm hoping for no more than 4 - and hoping we score at least 1.

Ok, Genesis. Never let it be said Charlton are greedy (or prolific). We'll settle for that, so consider it deal done : despite the fact that you were daft enough to go and name your club after Beckham's missus...
  • not sure who are the minows these days. its a sad day being in the first round. id love to say a win but im sweating on a 0-0 draw. i hope im wrong?
  • Hope some league clubs go out in the 1st round on saturday or we could all be in for a shock on sunday. If Parky plays a strong side for Charlton i still wonder who can score the goals for us.Northwich Vic will score but can we go one better.I have a bad feeling about this game and the other two games this week.2-1 Northwich Vic.

  • 7/2 the draw looks a very good bet. Parky's got to name 6 "regulars" on Wednesday and with Elliot injured that 6 of the outfield players. I think sundays team will be weaker than Wednesdays and it wouldn't suprise me if he named.

    Randolph
    Basey, Sodje, Llera, Omozusi
    Holden, Spring, Semedo, Wagstaff
    Tuna, Mcloud

Binks, Richardson, Daily, Bailey, Shelvey, McKenzie, Youga
  • Big Charlton win
  • That said, you can get 8/1 on a NV win at both Laddy's and Billy Hill's. A tenner there means you can't really lose.
  • With Naaarwich cruising i'm worried we're going to be the story.

    Draw?
  • Things are looking up - it's beginning to looks like a 'green' weekend!!!!!!
  • Well after seeing naaridge we should be all right
  • I admire the optomisim being shown. It's going to be a mare from start to finish.

Late equaliser from us to make it 1-1

Whatever happens, even if we lose it won't be as embarrassing as having to play in the First Round in the first place.

Losing to a 'Division 6' team in the cup I can stomach - it's easy compared to seeing us in Division 3 every bloody week.
