A banana skin the size of the Che Hales flag awaits us on Sunday lunchtime and if we don’t progress to the second round of ‘The Cup’ then all of our faces are going to be the deep red colour that Derek’s face sits on.
With the game being moved to the Sunday lunchtime slot on ITV there probably will not be as many Addicks making the trip up to wherever
Northwich is, as if it had stayed on the Saturday at 3pm, but hey – we can show the whole country how good we are can’t we…..?
For any other team it would be unthinkable (no disrespect Vics) they could slip up to a Blue Square North club - for
Charlton it is not.
Struggling to score goals, struggling to create chances and having lost some of that spark that the first 6 games of the season had,
Charlton need to get back to winning ways (especially on the road) regardless of the opposition.
Guessing the team
Parky is going to put out for this one is quite difficult but there is a case for
Jonjo Shelvey to get a starting place back to gain some confidence from being dominant in a midfield that should be controlling the match start to finish.
This should also be the time that
Deon is left out to get his troublesome hernia sorted so it is likely the much maligned
Izale McLeod will get another chance.
I’ll also go for third time lucky in terms of saying that
Sam will be rested and former
Vics loanee
Wagstaff will get the nod.
There is not much excuse to miss this game wherever you are but if you need another outlet to get updates etc, you have this site as well as a few people on Twitter who I’m sure will be providing regular updates:
http://www.twitter.com/CAFCOfficial and
http://www.twitter.com/sachazarb are probably your best bets but search for the #cafc on the site for others.
Anyway – thoughts here on our methodical, comfortable
0-2 win.
Cheers

I fear there is a lot of fear attached to this, but ultimately i think it will be 'alright on the night' without a 'cock up' in sight.
My only fear is that we won't get an early goal and the longer the game goes on, there more a bit of tension will effect us.
Importantly, i think Northwich's two best players are missing.
A comfortable 2-0 to Witton's southern branch.
I reckon he will rest Richardson, Dailly, Sam, Burton and any others that may be carrying knocks or need a rest, such as possibly Bailey, Racon ,Semedo.
To predict the team is too difficult but I think it will be very different to the 11 that started the season.
No Elliot, Richardson, Dailly, Sam, Burton and maybe others as well.
for me Randolph, New kid (ossie), Sodje, Llera, Youga, waggy, spring, shelvey, basey, tuna, mcleod.
To many have been struggling of late so chance for his lot to prove themselves.
Tight but i think we might just edge it.
Shelvey back and after the first 20 mins when Witton sorry Northwich throw the kitchen sink at us we will settle and be the better side (as we bloody well should)
Wagstaff and Shelvey to Start. Maybe Mooney upfront.
Will be interesting to see in McKenzie, Tuna or Holden get on the bench and who the sub keeper will be.
4 - 1
Presumably the hernia requires a small op - do we know if he has had it done? If the plan is to rest him this weekend and get it seen to, then he should have been in the clinic on Sun - or Mon at the latest - and by the time the cup game comes around already have eaten up the first week of what I guess will be a 3/4 week recovery. If he hasn't had it done and has been training this week, then I assume the decision has been taken that he must play on and he will be in the team on Sunday...
Oh nearly forgot , I'll go along with the comfortable 2-0 to us, btw.
Agreed except I think Mooney will play.
I'm going for 3-1 to us with NV possibly scoring first.
Omosuzi-Dailly-Sodje-Youga
Wagstaff-Racon-Semedo-Bailey
McKenzie-McLeod
I think it'd be a mistake to go in 4-5-1, let's put a bit of pressure on Northwich, score a goal or two and get out. In case of emergencies I'd have Sam, Shelvey and Tuna on the bench along with a spare keeper (Binks?) and Llera.
I don't like dropping defenders or messing up the back four unless you have to, so other than bringing in Randolph I'd stick with what we had against Carlisle.
Ill give em a draw and a game at The Valley (maybe on TV again and good money for NV) but we win the replay 4 v 1.
That said, i think we'll have just enough to sneak a 2-1 win.
If we knew the answers to these questions it would help.
1) Has Deon had his hernia op? If not, presumably he will play some part...
2) Is Mooney ineligible?
3) Is McKenzie now fit?
If none of the above can play, then it's McLeod and Tuna. But I'm sure it won't be. Or will it ?
Yours confusedly....
My head says you'll scrape it 2-1, especially with 2 of our key players out (getting the excuses in early).
My heart would go for the draw and letting you win the replay. I'm with our Charlie on this in requesting no extra-time, though, please. The Dorset coast may not be so far as mid-Cheshire, but it's far enough.
Bad enough having to set off at 7 on Sunday.
Always loved the cup, but our history is appauling, must be amongst the worst in the Prem and Championship.
Some really dire performances. Can only remember the Newcastle/ Sheffield Wed games in recent years that we played well in recent times.
Too me started the belief that we had a team that could do more than 'survive' in that division and we kicked on from there......
Obviously be good to be in the mix for the next round.........
LOL!
Trust me i am never ever ever wrong on anything ask anyone on here i am a fountain of knowledge and wisdom, all of these jokers on here especially the moderators and owners bow down to my knowledge and are running to the bookies to put a bet on NV 6 Charlton 3 i had a dream i tell you we are gonna get a whooping
i have seen the future and for us it aint good.
6-3
I reckon it will be 3-0nil charlton, jonjo brace(as i think he is only certain to play) like to see mooney, waggy & solly given a run out
