[cite]Posted By: ColinTat[/cite]Last season Sam was constantly blamed by Pardew via team selection and dropped, yet he made 9 assists in an under pressure season. When we're under pressure Ambrose neither scores or assists, he has his best times when other players make space for him. I don't want to see Sam dropped unless injury is the real reason. Even on a poor day Sam protects his full back and can be an assist threat. That can not be said of Wagstaff, his protection of his full back is not robust enough atm.
The real solution is careering left winger. From that comes, or if it comes I do not know.
Agree with that. Sam has bad games but he's a threat and offers things most (if any) players don't.
Luke Holden - think it's a case of another cheap gamble really, he might have come good but it's perhaps no surprise he hasn't. If he can't get on the bench ahead of Wagstaff that suggests he's probably nowhere near good enough, at least not his all round game.
Holden looked decent in the warm up v Barnet and I was surprised not to see him come on. He has a very sweet left foot and can strike the ball very cleanly. Hope to see him v Northwich and Saints. As for Lloyd, he is our only player who can really run at the opposition and beat a man time after time so I would alwasy have him in the side. 9 assists last year is impressive too considering the season we had. Unfortunately he has the Rommedahl problem with getting knackered early in 2nd half
[cite]Posted By: ColinTat[/cite]According to soccerbase Ambrose scored 16 goals in about 130 matches for us; thirteen league goals. He's scored 42 goals in his whole career, 32 league goals in over twp hundred league games.
ok. if you want to include sub appearances and only include league goals it reads as follows.
ambrose 134 apps (+68 sub) 32 goals, all of which have been in the prem or championship.
sam 79 apps (+28 sub) 5 goals, 3 of which have been in league one.
assists are subject to opinion, goals aren't.
edited. please note the last time i aired these views/stats coincided with an upturn in form and goalscoring from lloyd, here's hoping.
