  • You are right of course Nigel, shame on me ! The pilot has turned into the hijacker !

Dabos, appreciate you explaining, and i agree there is no correlation between performance / result, match rating / player rating, but giving 3.5s out for Saturday is well over the top IMO.
  • Elliot - 8 Couple of top quality saves. MOM
Richardson - 6 shame he is carrying a knock as I really like him. A rest might be best for him
Dailly - 6 maybe at fault for the goal but personally I think his form so far has put more than a few credits in the bank. IMO he should be our captain
Sodje - 7.5 Stood out at the back for me again. My MOM of the outfield players
Youga - 7 Solid at the back and showed he is flexible to play at RB again. Might make a full 90 this week with Basey on the left if Richardson doesn't recover and this would not concern me.
Sam - 6 Off the pace. If he had a better footballing brain he'd be awesome - as it is i'd have subbed him several games ago and given Waggy a chance
Racon - 6 So so performance. Undoubtedly quality player but not firing on all cylinders Saturday. Long grass doesn't help a dribbler though!
Bailey - 6 Huffed and puffed but it didn't really happen.
Burton - 5 no change from defenders
McLeod - 4 Personally I thought he had a mare. Spent most of the game on his arse waving his arms around and now refs know he goes down easily he isn't getting decisions even if they are legitimate. Aside from that his touch wasn't good. His passing was poor and his positional sense was poor again. Don't get me wrong I really want him to succeed as he does cause havoc whenever he plays but this wasn't his best game. At least he wasn't booked!
Semedo - 6 Solid, tidy but looked leggy at the end.
Basey - 6 - Looked up for it and banged in a couple of delicious crosses that a fox in the box would have munched

Parky - 7 a point from a tough game against a team great at home and certainly fired up for it. I'll take that. But please rest some of the injured / players now we have a few games coming up that aren't against the bigger teams

Fans - Good turnout. Shame about the 'tards behind me some of their pearls of wisdom include
McLeod you're f-ing shit (in pre match warmup)
Shelvey you're f-ing shit (in pre match warmup)
Basey you're f-ing shit (overhit cross)
and special praise for this gem "fuck off Jackson you too short fuck".

Sometimes I wonder where we find these people!!

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree :) I didn't go to the Colchester game, so this was the worst performance I've seen from Charlton this season. Perhaps I wouldn't have marked the Gills game so low had I been at that game.

I think there are some strange stigma attached to low ratings - a rating of 8/10 is not seen as out of the ordinary despite being further from the mean than 3.5/10 is. I'm sure I'm in the minority at the way I'm looking at the numbers here!

  • I suppose my criticism of Parky - I did mark him a straight down the line average 6 (which rose-tinters would have given more for a dull and slightly fortunate draw against weaker opposition??)- is that he didn't adapt the lineup to suit the tie, he stuck with what worked against a more free flowing team, at home and that he failed (again) to get the subs out when it was apparent that it wasn't happening.

You might say that he could have been criticised for changing the team, but we'll never know. Personally I believe managers are there to make decisions and - in the light of what happened at Gillingham - Parky doesn't always bite the bullet.

Agree with what Dabos said, too. If we're going to pick up on posters giving poor marks then we should also comment at some of the over-the-top marks that we get on here. If we had a team of 8s we'd be in Europe, not League One.

when i saw some of the marking i thought our defence were dealing with an attacking force rivalling barcelona but when reading through the post match reports many were saying that the team played poorly again.
