Brad Mehldau - 10 Years Solo Live

This is his reverential rendition of that titan, God Only Knows:
    Reminded me...
The original by Chico Buarque is beautiful, this rendition is unbelievable, best left hand in the business...

Good old Brad. If I had a right hand like his left, I'd be an incredible pianist in my own right!

I was lucky enough to see him and Josh Redman at the London Jazz Festival November last year, when they played at the Barbican. Possibly the greatest live music I have ever seen.

If you're into finding out a little bit of his insight from the mid-90s when still finding his feet, then check out his hour on Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz! (I recommend the entire series actually - Hiromi's is wonderful and Bill Evans' is so informative) https://open.spotify.com/album/4fzBkxUpWJXmbFWNxRWYtl
Thanks for that, will definitely check it out.
Brad has never been to Perth as far as I know so having to make do with YouTube...
Talking of which, my favorite online teacher is Barry Harris, love his energy and approach (and his smoking sshhhh....)
Check any of his master classes, here's a short and a long one:

  • Brand New - Science fiction
  • The Wind but it ain't crying Mary.
  • The Screen Behind The Mirror - Enigma ( sounds very Deep Forest like )
  • On the verge of throwing some cd's out, one of them is,

The Very Best of The Stone Roses.

So thought I'd give it a listen, in case I was making a terrible mistake.

    I'm not, it's shite!

You've made a number of strange posts lately, but that tops them all.

How dare you, Sir! My seconds will visit you in the morning!

When you say STRANGE are we talking on this thread or others?

Perhaps if you look at the book I'm reading at the moment and my comment alongside it, it may explain things?

Despite that, I still think the Stone Roses are shite but then again, there's no accounting for taste;)

This explains a lot, as your posts on many threads have been out of character of late & slightly confrontational (if that's the right word, probably isn't & I know I'm a fine one to talk). The cricket thread comes to mind.

So have you changed your personality for a wind up/to see the reaction you get or are you saying you genuinely have a personality disorder ?

I do have a Personality Disorder.

That's very interesting, because I hadn't been aware that I was being confrontational but then again, chances are I wouldn't?

That's actually quite helpful. Was there anything in specific?
  • The discussion about winning the toss springs to mind.
I suppose a more apt description might be your posts have been more assertive in the last few months. I wondered if it was someone else and not you. Not that I'm criticising, because I know I'm very opinionated myself.

Hmmm interesting, I think I do go into another state but don't necessarily know I have.

So did I or have I offended anyone?

    Ok, thanks.

Maybe if anything else strikes you as odd, you could let me know, if you have the time. It's helpful.

    Thanks.

I'll tell you whats odd (Though probably not that odd on this site) me coming on to a music thread to find the last several comments having nothing to do with music. ;-)
  • Gary Numan = Savage , Songs From A Broken World .
  • Walk Out To Winter (Extended version) by Aztec Camera.

Released in April 1983. Singer: Roddy Frame. Lovely melody and splendid chord progression.
    Happy memories.
