  • "Absolutely fantastic draw - home to one of the big four - will be a big occasion that fans / Northwichers should savour for amny years to come, having a big club from the capital with a massive history coming to town.
    Just can`t wait..."
    - from their site.

Blimey, it's been a long time since anyone's been that excited about a game against us! Just wait 'till they find out how rubbish in the Cups we tend to be.

Better be or Ooah will be complaining that we don't take away as many as Stafford Rangers : - )

Does it do up down the front then Henry?

[cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]I think it's bloody brilliant that they see this as the biggest Home game in their history and are thrilled that the mighty Charlton are visiting. They need the money desperately and I hope we play our part and sell out. It'll be embarrassing if we don't as they could sell more than will be available to home fans plus they are expecting us to bring a load. I just hope too that on the day we show them the respect they deserve, not on the pitch, but off it by us, the fans, and don't resort to imbacilic chants like ' shit ground ....' and 'yours grounds too big/small ....' and most of all the 'incest' song. We're Charlton not Millwall so let's act like it eh ??

    hear hear !
Agreed, a game like this should have no home fan abuse at all, well, unless they start it!

  • Hi there,

I'm a London-based Vics fan who is well up for the match. I'm in a dilemma right now as I have a family wedding the day of the match, but I have written to Jimmy Savile to get the match-day changed or for my cousin and future wife to call off the wedding!

It's a fantastic draw for us and we are on a roll at the moment. If you check out the Conference/Blue Square North table, don't forget that we have 10 points knocked off for being in administration, so on form, we are in the top 3 right now. Confidence is at a high and this is certainly the biggest match ever at our new stadium. We played Watford back at our old place in the 3rd round in 1977 and thumped them. Their manager was sacked and a certain G. Taylor took over. That was probably the biggest match we've had at home. We took 6,000 fans to Sunderland in 2006 and we expect a sell-out for your visit.

On Saturday, we gave FC United half of our Dane Bank Terrace (it runs the length of the pitch) and would imagine you would get the same, maybe more. If you stand behind the goal and don't manage to get a place right up against the barrier at the front, make sure you are tall - our terrace consists of one step! The best view is on the Dane Bank or sat in our main stand. The grandstand (the only seating in the ground) is pretty small, so the Dane Bank is your best bet.

Feel free to fire any questions at me if you like, I'll try and get some more Trickers over here.
    Nice one!
  • if anyone has any links for train tickets let me know the best i have come up with is £53.50 return,a bit pricey really, but don't really want to drive.
  • Welcome NT, good to have you on board.

Must be honest - I don't think may people have a clue about your club at all! Looking forward to game a lot.

Ditch the wedding - you know you want to (plus you'll probably beat us so you wouldnt want to miss out on that!)

http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ I've seen returns for less than £30 on there.

Hopefully Cheesewright can do the business!

Cheers! I'm working on avoiding the wedding. It's in Barrow, which is a god-forsaken place a the best of times, never mind when there's a big Cup match on :)

They were class. A credit to their team and club. Brought about 1500 fans and didn't stop singing throughout the match. Great banter. A couple of musclebrains got lead away by the coppers but that always happens at big matches.
  • Hello mate

Is it a church wedding or registry office job ?

You thinking of crashing it? :-)
  • Registry office, followed by a meal at a hotel then the pub. Any other day of the year and it would be great.

Tell them your religious beliefs mean you can't attend a wedding that is held not in the sight of God but that you'll make the drink about 6.30/7.00 ish ; - )
  • Northwich Tricker - just forget the wedding, it's only a cousin after all. Got pelters for missing my cousins, although I was in Oz on hols at the time, and glad I did as they are getting divorced just 10 months later !! I'd even miss my own wedding, if not already happily married, for a home game.
  • That's not a bad plan! So far, I'm looking at going to the wedding at 11:45, burning down the M6 to get to kick off at 3:00 and then going back for the eveing do.

I'm wishing to the God of Football that the match is moved to Sunday though! Be an arse for you guys though, all the way from London. I live in NW10 and it takes me about 4 hours up the M1 and M6 to get to Northwich. Going via the M40/M42 takes half an hour longer.
  • Northwich Tricker - Its probably a long shot but are the other Cheshire clubs at home that day?...just thinking as this fixture will need extra policing than a Blue Square game they might move to Sunday.
  • Crewe are away at York and Macc Town are at MK Dons.

Chester are away at Grays if they lose their Cup replay against Barrow (ironic really that) or at home to Eastleigh in the Cup if they win - can't see the plod being worried about that one.

Nice try, but still arse-wrenching so far.
  • FFS, Can't you lot be happy clappy about Northwich until after they've beaten us?
  • I would think there's a decent chance this might get televised, so if you're lucky NT if might just get switched to Sunday!

It clashes with my Niece's 3rd birthday party, but she's getting ditched for the footie I'm afraid!
