[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]CHARLTON fans have paved the way for Dennis Wise to complete a takeover at The Valley by backing the former Millwall manager’s bid to buy the club.
Sources have confirmed to the South London Press that Wise and Brixton-born former Newcastle player-recruitment chief Tony Jiminez are fronting a Middle Eastern consortium keen to plough cash into the SE7 outfit.
But any deal is understood to be some way off being finalised. It is believed Wise may seek a managerial role - and bring his former Leeds assistant Gus Poyet with him.
Wise’s group may have a fight on their hands for the club, with reports linking former Birmingham City owner David Sullivan with a takeover.
Charlton’s board, who are actively looking for a buyer, are sure to welcome the latest moves, with competition likely to drive up the price. The arrival of Wise, though, Millwall boss from 2002-05, could split fans.
But Paul Nottage, spokesman for the official Charlton Supporters’ Club, insists his organisation would have no problem with the ex-Chelsea midfielder becoming involved at The Valley.
“Whoever comes in must have the best interests of the club at heart and also a reasonable amount of money,” said Nottage.
“As long as the new owners are prepared to run the club in the right way - the way it has been run for most of the last seven years - then that’s fine and it doesn’t matter who they are."
Proves how out of touch CASC must be these days if they think the club has been run well for the last seven years. If you think the club has been well run (which I do) for that time then surely it has been well run since Richard Murray and Martin Simons took the Chairman and Vice Chairman roles in 95, which makes it 14 years.
When was the last time the Greenwich and Bexley CASC had an AGM or even a meeting?
When was the last time anyone could vote for officers of Greenwich and Bexley CASC?
When was the last time anyone was asked to renew their membership of Greenwich and Bexley CASC?
How many paid up members does CASC have?
When was the last time Greenwich and Bexley CASC published any accounts?
How many residents of Greenwich or Bexley who post on here are members of CASC?
When was the last time the executive, made up of reps from different CASC branches met?

It was a very well run club ... up to the point of giving Dowie cash to spent that they didn't have, by gambling and 18m spent with a 12m transfer budget and 28m spent on salaries in a 18m budget. And getting relegated, and then again, the last time without balloon payments to prop things up.
The rise went very well ... but the fall was hard and fast, and the landing was a big thud.
I can't believe all this crap, just when we were starting to smile again.
To summarise. before the thread was taken down, somebody had helpfully asked a Brum forum what they thought about Sullivan and Gold and the majority answer from them seemed to be that they will put in less money than we will be led to believe, and will take plenty out through sky high ticket prices. So whatever you think of their links to porn, there seem to be good football reasons to be suspicious of them.
Wise and Jiminez have not invested money in Newcastle. They have lost quite a lot of it by causing them to lose a court case with Keegan.(2m plus costs) The Guardian reported:
"It emerged that on 30 August last year Wise telephoned Keegan to tell him he wanted to sign González, a Uruguay midfielder, then aged 29, from Valencia on a 12-month loan, in order to enhance relations with South American agents. Wise advised Keegan to look at videos of González which had been posted on YouTube.
"I resigned because I was being asked to sanction the signing of a player in order to do a favour for two South American agents," said Keegan. "No one at the club had seen the player play and I was asked to sign him on the basis of some clip on YouTube. This is something I was not prepared to be associated with in any way."
González is now back at Valencia. He played 38 minutes of first-team football for Newcastle last season, making two substitute appearances before suffering a serious achilles injury. His loan cost the club £1m in wages in a season in which Keegan's temporary successors, Joe Kinner and Alan Shearer, failed to prevent the team's relegation from the Premier League."
As for Paul Nottage's stupid and unaccountable remarks , it sadly reminds me of CASC in 1985 when they effectively branded Rick Everitt and I as hooligan troublemakers for daring to demand that their meeting discussed what the hell we were doing at Selhurst Park, when there were much more important things on the agenda.

Has anyone still got the link to the Birmingham Forum? And why did that thread get taken down?

It vanished literally in front of my eyes. Things had got a bit heated. It was like one of those pub fights I used to witness in my student days at Pompey, when you were so pissed you thought its all been laid on for your entertainment :-)
But its a pity. The Brum stuff was interesting.
I'm thinking we ought to start talking to Toon people about Jimenez. I've got some biz contacts who are Toon, I''ll ask them.
Tony J is from Swanley and I believe he has a Spanish father. He was some kind of steward at Chelsea when he got a lucky break of translating for some of the foreign players (mainly Gus P). This began a rise to success for TJ, as a kind of fixer/operator for the day to day requirements of overpaid premiership players. In this time he will have become involved with little Den as well , I suppose. All totally legal and above board, and a nice guy too, i'm told.
TJ has a good relationship with Curbs and Peter V, although I do not know how this began.
TJ and GP now live close to each other somewhere near Chelsfield I believe.
**cue everyone's opinion of Tony J changing because Valiantphil says he has a good relationship with Curbs and Varney**
Valiantphil - not a dig at your post in the slightest mate, from what you say it all now sounds a bit more interesting and plausable, just an observation from myself.
If a group is looking to put money in and its the best for the club, which will be decided by our current board, then I have no probelm with either group.
[cite]Posted By: Charlton Dan[/cite]I have to agree with Kets.

this is the same (mainly) Board that presided over the mess that is the Dowie/Pards era has left us in, add to that the dire financial situation and huge debt, sorry but my blind faith doesn't go that far.

So judging someone by their media persona and the mess that Ashley created is wiser (pardon the pun)? Sorry Barn but I'd rather trust the above mate.

If you were the Board would you be concerned about either of these two 'options' from what you know so far?
When the reputation of the club is at stake surely the public image of prospective owners must be an issue? As must the reputation of those concerned with making football decisions for their ability/judgement or lack of it.
Perhaps the Board will make the right decision for the club, I'm just saying I do not have blind faith in their decision making for the reasons I mentioned.
Fair enough, mate. That's your choice. However, on the flip side, I do trust the board to have the club's best interests at heart (which is what I'm saying). They didn't after all hire Dowie / Pards with the intention of f**king up 15 yrs of hard work and jeopardising their own investments.
If either of these parties is genuine and have a genuine plan and strategy to take the club forward then it should be listened to and b**locks to how it is perceived.

don't agree that perception is bollocks, reputations are earned. I do take your point though and hope the Board can afford to put the clubs interests before their own.

And that is the £64 million question?
I heard it was closer to £30m
Takes into account all the new players we'll buy in January ; - )

And was there even an election?
