Youga - 8 attacking menace once Bailey had done his conkers
Sam - 5 poor and off the pace

Shelvey - 5 well off the pace and poor touch and passing. Needs a rest
    Bailey - 5.5
    Burton - 5
Spring - 7 neat and tidy

Mcleod 5 got in positions and things happened but shocking finishing
    mckenzie 6 not on long
wagstaff 6.5 not on long but direct and pacy

parky 6 should have gone 442 at half time as shelvey was way off the pace

Oldham - 6 they had a plan. They parked the bus. It worked. Shocking timewasting tactics. Gregan the Fat one marshalled the back 4 well- looks like he's eaten Burton as I barely saw him today!

Ref - 2/10. missed blatant penno for Oldham and proceeded to give them 20 free kicks and us 3. Decisions the wrong way and it seemed he wanted a 0-0. Missed countless pushes on burton but pulled us up every time

  • Elliot - 6 - Didn't have much to do, but almost made a hash of what should have been a routine backpass in the first half
Richardson - 6.5 - Not too exposed at the back, but didn't get forward with the same purposefulness he has of late
    Dailly - 7 - Nice and solid.
Llera - 6.5 - Nice diagonal balls out of defence, but Abbott beat him in the air all day long, and still had his comedy moments - like clearing the ball into the West stand when he had about 37 seconds of time to bring it under control and play it back to Elliott
Youga - 8 - Bombed forward with menace and defended well when needed. Very unlucky with his overhead kick. Needs to practice shooting though - his efforts were woeful, after doing all the hard work to get into good positions
Sam - 6.5 - Quiet, but really like his attitude and doesn't ever go missing in his own half, like a lot of wingers
Racon - 8 - Still not suite the same player without Semedo, but very good again today, played across the width of the field and caused lots of problems second half
Shelvey - 6 - Don't think he needs to be dropped, but I'm not convinved the 'free' role behind Burton suits him. Think he should play as a traditional midfielder
Bailey - 7 - Decent, workmanlike and a couple of reasonable efforts int ehf irst half. Looked tired toward the end though
Burton - 6.5 - Had very little change out of their centre halves all game
Spring - 8.5 - Excellent performance - ran the midfield and dropped deep to come and fetch the ball and play link-up in the second half. Quality effort first half too, unlucky not to score. My MOM

McLeod - 4 - Woeful finishing - absolutely woeful. Strikers are paid to score goals - he never looks like scoring
McKenzie - 7 - Good little cameo I thought. Has to be ahead of McClown in the pecking order now
Wagstaff -6.5 - Decent when he came on, though needs to be more direct, more often

Special mention to the ref, who was f***ing abysmal - how he never gave them a penalty I'll never know, and made some laughable decisions in their favour in the second half

    Sam -6
    Racon -8
Shelvey -5.5 Fantastically talented but needs to be given much better instruction as to his role. I suspect Parky is reluctant to do it.
    Bailey - 6
Burton - 5.5 Not helped by poor support from midfield (esp Jonjo)
    Spring - 7.5
  • Elliot - 6 Not a lot to do, but about one and a half risky moments.
Richardson - 6 Even when I played in the Woolwich and District league I used my left foot occasionally.
    Dailly - 7 Very steady
Llera - 7.5 Much improved, mixed his out ball with neat passing and the trademark long one to sam, worked responsibly with Dailly, red head.
Youga - 8 very good indeen, light years from his form at the start of the season.
Sam - 6 Did not seem to take anybody on, dropped deep and cut inside, always a sign it's not going well for him.
Racon - 8 Played really well, possibly our best footballer.
Shelvey - 6 needs to review his role, but persist, on occasions flashes of brilliance.
Bailey - 7.5 Improved as the game went on
Burton - 6.5 Typical unselfish display, but no reward.
Spring - 8.5 best performance for us since he has been here, my MOM

Parkinson 6 Most decisions and interventions predictable, Izales miss not his fault....needs to freshen things a little now.
Crowd 4,did not really happen today
Oldham 8, a great away point for them, well supported by a bigger than expected following.
  • what swisdon said except Spring 8 and MOM, his best game for us
  • shelvey was once again woeful
  • Elliot - 7 Didn't have much to do but when called upon looked assured.
Richardson - 7 Solid defensively and looked good going forward.
Dailly - 7 Looked comfortable. Positional sense good but prone to losing out in headers against a target man.
Llera - 7 Not a bad game but frustrating to see hi waste possession with that continuous long ball to Burton or Sam.
Youga - 9 MOM. Best game I've seen him play. Defensively improving and his forward runs created chances. Tracked back and showed effort.
Sam - 6 Drifted in and out of the game. Didn't take on his man enough. Maybe still carrying an injury.
Racon - 7 Some touches of class and composure but occassionally wasted possession.
Shelvey - 6 Marked out of the game by Worthington. Looked tired and not at his work horse best. Maybe needs a rest?
Bailey - 7 Always gave 100%. Tracks back well. Cuts inside too often. Perhaps play McKenzie there and drop Spring if Semedo is out for the next game.
Burton - 6 Didn't hold up the ball as well as he has done. Looked tired. Didn't win many headers.
Spring - 7 Played the short simple passes. A more assured performance from him but can see Semedo coming back in.

McLeod - 5 Got into those scoring positions but again lacked composure and panicked. Showed a lot of effort but lost the ball too easily and was sometimes selfish.
McKenzie - 6 Showed signs of being a good player. Could be useful with his pace and creativeness.
Wagstaff - 6 Didn't really have enough time to make much of an impact but not a bad game.

  • Elliot -6.5 not to much to do
    Richardson -6.5 wasn't great but wasn't poor
    Dailly -6.5 was ok
Llera -5.5 Better this week than at Colchester (but get rid of the effing hat)
Youga -7 got forward well but that seemed to make bailey more a leftback
Sam -5 Back to the no final ball, no crosses of note, maybe thinks its to easy now
Racon -4.5 thought he was very poor meant to run the midfield but didn't do anything
Shelvey -5.5 tried but something was lacking today, i wasn't sure if he was holding midfield or playing up with burton, probably deserved to come off but so did the rest of the midfield and deon
Bailey -6 tried quite hard but another that didn't know where he was playing
Burton -5 only saw him hold the ball up twice, no talking was very quiet
Spring 6.5 probably done more than any of the midfield

Not sure what went wrong but players need to realise you have to win these games. No one gives them to you. No one is tired lets not use that as an excuse, these are fit young men who have played about ten games for christ sake. If Racon cant play without semedo thats a worry, he isn't gelling with spring and its upsetting the balance of our once very strong midfield. All in all a very poor performance

  • Had we scored one of our chances no one would be complaining, its such a fine line. What is crucial now is that we beat huddersfeild. I thought recon was good youga excellent and mckenzie looked usefull too
  • Thought Spring was MOTM.
All I wanted to say really..............

Much credit to Llera for a solid game after his nightmare at Colchester....also unlucky not to have scored.....great attitude.
  • Elliot - 6 Little to do but sloppy with some back passes
Richardson - 5 good going forward but two poor back passes that put Elliot in trouble. Looked like a stone wall pen he should have given away in the first half as well
Dailly - 6 Abbott gave him a hard time but he stuck with it
Llera - 5.5 A mix of commanding headers, great crosses and heart in the mouth moments
Youga - 7 One of two hairy moments at the back but best of the back line and charged forward well. JJ (the old one) style overhead was class.
Sam - 6. 5 Didn't look fit but worked hard. Maybe being double and sometimes trebled marked hindered him!
Racon - 6.5 some of our best stuff came through him but also over elborated and didn't always play the ball early enough
Shelvey - 5 Not in the game, came too deep and didn't use the ball well when he got it.
Bailey - 7 Agressive and with youga looked the most likely source of a goal
Burton - 6 poor balls into him plus close marking plus no Charlton players (Shelvey in particular) nulified his game just as Oldham wanted. Still put his shift in and when he did get the ball down looked dangerous.
Spring - 7.5 MOTM Busy, tidied up and steadied the ship in the first half when they were running through us. Did the simple things well. Had two cracking long range shots. Wish he was playing further forward with Semedo behind him

Wagstaff - 6. 5 Worked hard and tried to make things happen
McKenzie 6.5 like what I saw and would like to see more
McLeod - 4 I've stuck up for him in the past and his running gave Oldham problems but he had four chances. OK, one was his first touch but he didn't connect properly, one he made himself chasing a long ball into the corner, slipped, recovered and his shot was blocked. Another he had a header at the far post and should have done better. And the other one. Well, that was just dreadful. And he's scored in his last two home games so no excuse about confidence.

Oldham came for a draw and maybe nick something on the break. Abbott was effective but he, unlike Burton, had players running beyond him. Time wasting from about 30 mins but they were a tidy, effective side who worked hard within their system.

The Ref - Waited too long to book the keeper and should have sent the Oldham 12 off for a second yellow after his tackle on Sam. The play went on for another minute by which time the Ref just talked to him. Missed a clear pen for Oldham as well and gave the most bizarre decisons all day but he wasn't the reason we didn't win
  • Elliot -6 Nothing to do.
    Richardson -7
    Dailly -7.5
    Llera -7
    Youga -8 MOM
    Sam -5.5 Quiet game
    Racon -7.5
    Shelvey -5 Hardly involved
    Bailey -6
    Burton -5.5
    Spring - 6

We needed to score first to bring Oldham out. The longer the game went on the more entrenched Oldham became. The defence were fine. The problem today was Sam,Shelvey and Bailey who didn't create enough, plus Burton. I thought Racon played well and Spring did the holding job.

Sam didn't look flying fit. Shelvey looked heavy legged - the game passed him by. Bailey hasn't been at his best for a while now.

Next week I'd play McKenzie and McLeod and rest Shelvey and Burton.
