I don't think it's going to be a mass over reaction my concern is that we didn't /couldn't turn it around. It reminded me of benty's first season when for 10 games we went 4,5,1 with smertin and murphy pulling the strings then we got found out.I think teams have done there homework on us,get tight on sam flood the midfield, and unfortunately we didn't have a alternative, that to me is quite worrying.
ok so jonjo looked a little jaded........so did a few others!! oldham should of had a penalty , we hit the woodwork a couple of times ...they came and got what they wanted we tried to get what we wanted but didnt get it ...........football i believe.....a points a point.....FFS
I moved seats to the lower north in the second half just to the right of the goal, couldn't believe what I was hearing from the fools behind me, slagging Burton off endlessly. I shouldn't have paid much attention they didn't have a tooth in their head between 'em. Knuckle draggers!!!

A quick scan of the match thread suggests otherwise......
Blimey, I'm glad I was standing where I was, most of the comments around me were pretty much spot on.
We didn't do enough in the first half, thought we could get away with playing in second gear. Oldham defended quite well but we didn't put enough pressure on them off the ball and didn't get forward quick enough when we did. We were lucky not to concede a penalty, the only person we have to thank for that was the Ref who over the 90 min's was dire. we looked much better once we started playing with two up front, I still think Bailey is wasted on the wing and Shelvey looks like he could do with a couple of games rest. Kelly Youga was terrific, and I think we deserved a goal if not from Youga then certainly from Llera's header off the bar.
We don't have to be hysterical or to over-react to realise that this was the poorest home performance of the season and that it has been coming for some time. Nobody here needs reminding that its 273 mins since that last league goal by Izale now, and that we've only won one of our last six games.
It's got to be time to mix it up because the 4-5-1 is starting to be not only predictable but rather unenterprising. We certainly loooked more likely to score when Izale came on and we had two up front. At home that has to be the way to go, because what happened today was quite simple.
Oldham did their homework and knew exactly what to expect and worked out a way to counter the system that served us well in the early part of the season. What was alarming was how easily they did it, by isolating Burton from the midfield.
Thought our best players were Youga and Spring, but today also showed how we rely too much on Shelvey to be the link between the midfield and Burton. For once he was quite off the pace and looked like a 17 year old boy among men. They also matched up against us in midfield so the result was that 4-5-1 really was 4-5-1 and not the more fluid 4-4-1-1 we've enjoyed when the boy is firing...
Deffo pen for them, the foul on Youga when their bloke pushed him over (two hand slam), the corner not given when he gave it and then asked the lino. Inept aint the word.
Have to agree we have been found out. Flood the midfield, and stiffle the wings. One up for 65 mins NO.

Yeah same.. but im still confident... It was curbs changing to 442 that saved us from a felegation fight that yeah....
Maybe Parky changing to 442 might be the one that solidifies us in the top 6....
Very cagey in the first half, but upped the tempo in the 2nd. One of those games where it's a case of one chance, one goal. Not to be, but Oldham certaintly did their homework.
Nice to see Lurch from the Adamms Family make a special apperarnce yesterday afternoon. Pity his referring skills were garbage.
Not the end of the world, and still one point above my average.
you have got to believe that we won't be mid table haven't you? there are some of the worst football sides in the country in our league. i have to hope that we are better than most of them.
Comments
Agreed. Ref missed a blatant Oldham pen in the first half.
Missed that what happened?
*cue "everyone is entitled to there mindless opinion"*
Followed by the equally insightful......why don't you f**cking run your only 17.

That long forgotten ABBA B side

Had Izale netted that sitter we would be happy.
Couple of guys behind me most of slagged off every player at some point.
With the luck of the penalty decision this could turn into a crucial point in the long run.
Plenty of time to go. Get a few poor games out of the system now and come strong again.

Oh well it's a point gained ...
At least we got something from the game.
after 6 straight wins we've won only one out of the last 6.........a defeat next week and we could be strugglin to keep i the top 6.
anyone want to bet we will be mid-table come xmas...........
Yes, you I should imagine.
I think we had a poor game against a team that didn't want to lose.
Oh yeah.....they were in the top half of the table too!
Not that I agreed with him.

I'll have some of that bet as well, take him to the cleaners.
