  • Cause we've little or no "Hooligans",we've won the FACup,and we're (in general) Nice.

PS, If you've been reading this site you'll tend to notice we moan alot...........
    ;-)
  • Why don't you go and watch all four teams at home and find out that way?
  • Because they are the finest football club in the whole wide world and the other teams that you mentioned are a bunch of shitehawks.

    Simples!

Aaaaaah but West Ham have won The World Cup. Not to mention that academy producing such wonders as Defoe.
  • Cos no one will want to have a pop at you if you're a charlton fan unlike if you are millwall or west ham ...
tickets will be easy to come by for away games (once it's not a newish ground)
we only have 3 songs so it wont tax your brain to learn them
    neil warnock is a c**t
league one is more exciting than the championship which in turn is more exciting than the premiership
we have a great chance of getting to wembley in the johnstones paint trophy
despite two relegations in three years everything is rosey in la la charlton land
4-5-1 is a great formation in league one but not in the premiership
having the opportuity to beat walsall 2-0 is better than losing to man utd
    the list is endless
come along for the ride if you want to be wound right up!!

    See other thread:

    Distance from sports grounds thread
  • Quite frankly, if you are considering any of Charlton, Millwall, Palace and West Ham (You might as well include Wimbledon) you're clearly not a glory hunter so good on ya!

Get yourself down the Valley on Saturday, go for the North Upper, give it a go. If you want to watch another team after that, then so be it.

  • I am 2.5 miles from the valley but 210 miles from the real St James Park.

It looks like Oldham on Saturday then, will I be impressed!

Yes you will be. Especially of our rendition of the incest song.

Just go a few times, amazing how very soon you become a committed Charlton fan, i think it is the fact that it feels like a family club . It helps that you already know about Charlton Life - THE best message board anywhere.

Oh i forgot to say we are really good at football!!!
  • Yes agree about the football, I came along a fortnight ago but sat in the away end.

In the first 20 minutes you were the best League one team I have seen this season, played with plenty of width and pace. The seond half was more even but you deserved the win in the end.
  • Sit in North Stand or North west Quad for best atmosphere. I started going about 5 years ago to watch the big games ( was Newcastle fan at the time), then eventually changed allegiances and we got a season tickets, been relegated twice since then! But still went to Leeds last week and could not imagine spending Saturday anywhere else. Have fun
  • Its alright over here even i like it ;-)
  • because we arnt glory hunting numpty goonerWankers.

See there's one reason (i think its one but could be more)
  • because we arnt glory hunting numpty goonerWankers.
And there I was trying to think of all sorts of reasons.... Hammer, Nail, Head. End of!
  • GH sums it up, but you could include any other 'big four' bores in that list....

    welcome dj,

it really depends what you are after:

If you want to watch premiership football, and don't mind paying £40+ a ticket, you'll go West Ham

If you were bullied as a child, now walk with a bowl, chew a lot, think you're a geeeezer, think racism is funny, can't say a sentence without saying c***, and call people at least 10 years older than you 'son', you'll go Millwall.

If you've got family that support Crystal Palace, then you'll go Palace. No one ever supports them unless they are forced to.

If you don't fit into none of the above, like a club to attract a whole cross-section of society, not in it for the glory and like watching football in a neat, affordable, historic stadium, surrounded by people that aren't going to offend your guests, be worried about your kids, and find a friendly welcome in the local pubs, you'll go Charlton.
  • and obviously....of the 4 we are likely to have the most success this season ;)

I'm watching premiership football, i'm just choosing to watch it at the valley. ;-). We're playing better football than a lot of them in there at the moment and i dont see that changing.

Not forgetting if your English is shocking!

As an Exeter fan you'll be used to the values of supporting a proper football club with proper rivalries and proper fans - Millwall are scum and you cannot seriously be thinking of going to the Den every fortnight unless you are "pwopa nawty" and don't aspire to having any friends - Go for one walk around Croydon and you'll see why Crystal Palace isn't an option, add to this Simon "How much can one man love himself?" Jordan and Neil "Just when you had a tiny bit of respect for him he goes and says that" Warnock along with a stadium that they don't own and a dwindling fanbase they don't make good reading either. Wet Spam must be an aquired taste (the kind of taste you might aquire if you were a rat), if you are looking for glamour ties against the big teams etc. get in there fast before they get relegated.

I agree with what has been said on here already - Go to the Oldham game on Saturday, go to a Charlton pub before the game and sit in the Upper North Stand for the match - You'll have the best match day you've had since the 2008 Conference play-off final. Add the fact that we so graciously loaned our best striker (ahem) Stu Fleetwood to your outfit then it's a no-brainer.

The sensible thing would be to go around the local clubs and see which you enjoy most - I think we're just trying to save you time by telling you to buy your reduced rate season ticket now and get the most out of it.

Best of luck to you... I wish I was just discovering CAFC for the first time again.
  • And, if you're nice to BDL he'll even read out the HalfTime score from The Real St.James Park......
