Charlton Life player of the month based on forum members ratings for each match .....

August (wwwww) - JOSÉ SEMEDO - played all 5, average=7.83, total=39.15

September (wddwld) - JOSÉ SEMEDO OR KELLY YOUGA?

...... Semedo (highest average) played 3 out of 5, average=7.29, total=21.87
...... Youga (highest total) played all 5, average=7.03, total=35.13

Only one way to decide .... fight! ... well a poll .... who is your September player of the month?

  • kelly youga for me
  • Youga...most improved player...must be the haircut
  • Semedo ... undefeated
  • Youga. Great end to last season and start to this. Shame that so many still write him off as the weakest link.
  • Semedo (whilst I agree Youga has definately improved, he still worries me)
  • Don't think it should be a vote.

Should be done on average points so Semedo wins. That's what good about getting people to give ratings after games rather than vote in hindsight.

OK, if a player has only played one game then maybe not but two or more games in a month is enough in my ever so 'umble.

  • Semedo............still alittle unsure about Kellys positioning.....

True, but Semedo wasn't involved in the Colchester farce so he gets an advantage in rating terms. I guess it could be argued that everyone would've played better with Semedo in the team, and he would most likely have been one of the better performers based on his showings so far this season. I think a player should have to have played at least 80% of the games in the month to be considered the best player.
  • Youga for me, vastly improved.

don't see the need to set fixed criteria ..... for argument's sake, what if Youga averaged 7.5 from six games but Semedo averaged 7.501 from two games then surely Youga is potm?

On the other hand, what if Semedo was outstanding and scored a hat-trick and saved a penalty after Elliot was sent off and got 10 from his only game, but we lost the other games that month and the highest average was 5?!

** PS That last example isn't a prediction for November.

    (December I reckon)
  • I agree it's good to do it statistically, but my vote would actually go to Dailly for being extremely responsible for gelling the defence together- and, no doubt, nurturing Youga along the way.
  • Its funny though because there was a period before kelly went "dodgy" where he was putting in the performances he is now. So when you say most improved, i think he is playing just as well as he did before. Although, dont get me wrong he has been fantastic this season so far!
    Player of the month.... SEMEDOOOOOOOOOO!
  • Nice to have this problem, for me Semedo

Youga for me - played really well all month, especially the Exteter win which Semedo missed which makes it

KY 6 - JS 8 at the moment
  • Youga youga youga youga
  • Semedo

But very impressed with Youga's improvement this month.

If he did that I'd suck him off, so winning POTM would be the least of his problems.
  • I'd give it to Semedo

Youga is definitely improved this season but I for one would have liked to have seen him give Llera more support when he (Llera) was having that nightmare at Colchester

plus Youga still looks clueless when he gets into the opposition's box for me - no composure whatsoever
  • 7-11 in José's favour
  • Youga (if Semedo only plyed 3 out of 5 that is not enough)
  • Youga no composure in the opposition box? He has hit the post twice this season after crazy runs and he's a defender!

    Youga.

Don' think you can do it purely on points average as there is also the question of consistency, which means there's a 'bonus', if you like, that goes to the player who has managed such a high score over five games as opposed to one who has only done it over three...

In any case, be fair. Semedo won it last month. And be sensible. If he keeps winning it every month, someone's going to notice and come and buy him up in the January sales!
  • Yougaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
  • Semedo. It is no coincidence that our form has dropped since he's been out of the team. He is our Makalele.
