Biggest away crowd ever to watch Charlton in the Third Division - only surpassed once at this level at The Valley, for Millwall in 1924/25.
Leeds don't play again in the League until October 19th, at Norwich, by which time we will have played two home games. So it could be them playing catch-up, although take nothing for granted.
Sodje had a great game and was a vast improvement, although spare a thought for Llera's Dad, who travelled to both Leeds and Colchester.
Just got home! Had a great time. Thought we played very well apart from Shelvey who struggled with coping with the wind. I thought Leeds fans were brilliant! 30000 'Marching all together...' I must admit, although we had good numbers there, I was a little disapointed with the lack of singing, in particular the very few songs Charlton seem to have.
I think we have a very good defence and Sam Sodje must be the best defender in the division.
Hotel was great - not a "Bad House" after all! Had a great meal at a place called Anthony's, which was wonderful.
Why we (Leeds) didn't sign Sodje for this season is beyond me.I know Sodje has got dodgy knees so it maybe the potential injury factor could have been the risk. I remembered that he dislocated his arm( i think) at the end of last season during a game and popped it back in himself.!! . We decided on Kisnorbo who is as equally as good and equally as solid, Im surprised why Leicester never played him last season. If Sodje stays fit then you have a damn good defender but im not sure if he will do the whole season without his knees going.
The wind was so bad the first half was difficult to take any conclusions. Leeds dealt with it slightly better. However in the second half I was really pleased with the way dealt with it, got the ball down and played some pretty good football. However they continued to be a threat on the break. Draw a fair result. Their crowd was pretty noisy and i just think they were suprised by our football ability and that's when they went pretty quiet for spells in second half. . Great noise from our fans. Must also add top marks fro Parky. Firstly for playing Sodje, secondly for switching Racon and Bailey (who both then revelled). I was also pleased he explained why it was Shelvey who had to be taken off for Mcleod and the reasoning. Continue to be warming to him!
all these jibes about colchester etc - surely every team's allowed one bad performance now and and again it's how the management and players bounce back from it that counts surely.
and think they get plaudits for doing just that. Parky changed it in defence the players responded. what more can u want.

"... for long periods the visitors played the more constructive football in a match they might easily have won."
"... Sodje was certainly game, repeatedly hurling himself into the path of the Leeds barrage."
"... by the time Becchio had left the field on 35 minutes, injuring his ankle treading on the ball, Charlton had begun to dominate quietly, with the composed and elegant Jonjo Shelvey to the fore. "For a 17-year-old kid coming into this environment I thought he put on a really good display," Parkinson noted, and for much of the first half Shelvey looked the most interesting player on view"
"The last time these teams met was on the last day of the Premier League season five years ago, ... Leeds' team that day contained ... Frazier Richardson, who played right-back for Charlton here, and for a while either side of half-time he was a potent threat from the flank"
"Charlton gave Leeds, if not a footballing lesson, then a brief informal tutorial."
Had an awesome weekend in Leeds. The atmosphere was top class, although i've seen better games. The wind was a joke tho, so players can be forgiven. Sodje was very impressive and looked really up for it. Me and 4 mates had a great night at Oceana's too, huge club.
quite funny when a guy sitting near me stood up and offered to meet one of their fat fans at McDonalds. Quite simple but made me chuckle.

Plenty of singing.
I thought so too, thought we were pretty loud, mate said you could hear us on the radio loudly so couldn't have been too shabby.

I love away days.
Was unbelievably windy up there. Struggling to walk on the way to the ground.[/quote]
You're talking about the weather right?
