  • done player marks, i thought 2-2 was a fair result tbh
first half excellent performance by us just sloppy letting them score just before half time, that gave them the mommentum and deserved last minute goal
shevey stood out as our main threat and was at his creative best, when we were 1 nil up he got some chants of their fans so gave them the scoreline which they didnt like too much!! hehe was quality, you probably had to be there :-)
concerned with bailey as started of ok playing out of position but now not getting involved with games and didnt really do much at narwich, didnt create anything or even get stuck in, think maybe worth puttin him on the right sam on the left as think this would bring out bit more in him and sam could do a job on the left still.

Thats about all i have to say really, had good day out with my cousin. thought their supporters were a bunch of mugs at end of game chanting as if they won the game only for us to stick 2 fingers up and shout'IT WAS A DRAW' lol
  • Thought it was our poorest game of the season in terms of quality, but the players battled hard and got a point which we would not have got last season and we remain unbeaten.

We started poorly, scored a little against the run of play, visibly grew in confidence and dominated before scoring the second. I then thought we looked pretty comfortable and have no doubts we would have gone on to win but for a very poor bit of defending just before half time when Llera did not hink quickly enough, allowed Hoolahan (who else) to get goals side and Elliot had no chance.

Thought half time would give us a good opportunity to re-group but instead we were bad second half, gave the ball away repeatedly, lost all composure on the ball and stood of the Norwich players far too much. I am worried by how easily opposing teams seem to be able to get crosses in.

Shelvey had a very good game, Youga probably one of his best for the club with a great through ball to Izzy which should have put us 1-3 up and would have sealed it.

Norwich's second looked like a foul to me but was the least they deserved so as long as we get a bit of luck later in the season then I have no complaints really.

All in all, 8 games, 6 wins and 2 draws being against Southampton and Norwich is, to me, an excellent start to the season.
  • This was a decent point won in any other circumstances except from the position we got into in the game. To be fair, I thought that Norwich out fought us for periods of the game and won the right to move the ball around. We showed flashes of quality. There was a 15 minute period in the first half from the time of our first up until they scored where we played some decent stuff. The rest of the time, save for a chance or two in the second half, we struggled to exert any control on the game.

I felt that perhaps, we'd got away with a somewhat fortunate win when they stole a goal at the the end. It looked like a foul on Robbie to me.

There were some resolute performances but too often we gave the ball away, especially in the second half. Richardson was one of the main culpreit but he wasn't the only one.

We struggled to deal with Hoolihan who was their stand out player. I feel like it was a defeat but in all honesty a point was all we deserved.
  • A point away from home is good.

I agree Len, it's just the goal coming so late on was a real p*sser.

I thought in the first half we looked good for the three points. But it seemed like we came out in the second half content to try and sit back and hold on to the one goal lead. Nobody made any runs forward when we gained posession and the midfield stood about 3 yards in front of the back four for the entire half. We spent 45 minutes asking them to equalise.

I thought at half-time that their goal changed the game. At 2-0 we could go into the second half on the front foot knowing that they desparately needed a goal to get back into the game and that would have given us opportunities to hit them on the counter. At 2-1, it seemed to me that we would have a "what we have we hold" mentality and would sit to deep and that's exactly what we did. When we tried to attack we just made space in front of our defence for the likes of Hoolihan to exploit.

Having said all that, I didn't see that much quality on display in a Norwich shirt with the exception of Hoolihan and the second goal was a nailed on foul.

I thought their first goal was very good and quick thinking after watching it on highlights.
They really did deserve a point even though I'm so gutted they got it as they did in the end, it was definately a foul.
  • Just seen the goal on sky my view is Robbie didn't need to come as we had plenty of bodies in the box and that he missed his punch, shame as he has done well this season.
  • thats what i thought should have stayed, poor goalkeeping 1 from which he will hopefully learn

  • Norwich deserved a point, they hammered us in second half. Elliot made a great save 5 mins before the end. We played well in first half and if we had gone in at 2 nil i think we would have gone on to win.

    Smedo was my MoTM.

though Parky got the subs wrong this this. Bailey was all over the place (not in a good way)and should have been subbed. Mcloud did well though, just wish he could get a goal. Great bit of skill and work from Youga that put him though.
  • the key is that we now beat exeter on saturday. If we were to win that game by 3 goals, we are fully buzzing again. win and its 9 without loss. lose and its 3 without win. leeds are at mk dons on satuday too so have a tough game.

I think thats really harsh on Robbie. The bloke's all over him and he missed his punch. The fair barging of goalkeepers law went out in the 1950s along with forwards like Nat Lofthouse. That sort of challenge is unfair and the goal should have been ruled out. I'd rather the keeper was decisive and protected by referees than stick on their line for fear of not being protected.
  • Saw the goal on tv and whilst it's a foul 99 times out of 100 - Robbie should be wiping out everything in those situations. When jumping with his arm upright he should never get beaten in the air.

Seems a draw was fair though and we are still unbeaten so can't grumble

    well done lads
  • Robbie does have that problem and we have had a scramble in most of the games I have seen this season, but he is young and that's just a part of his game he needs to work on, overall he is doing a good job.

My real concern at the moment is that in at least four games this season we have had the one half syndrome that we had last season, Wycombe, Orient, Sothampton and Norwich. Parkie talked about teaching the players how to close a game down but that has not worked in the ncase of Norwich and amost lost it against Southampton.
  • I wasnt at the game myself, listened to it on the radio and by the sound of it, a draw was a good, fair result! It was always going to be tough second half as the carrot crunchers had the confidence going into the break after pulling one back! Last season we would have lost to norwich at carrow road under the same circumstances!
Still unbeaten, a tough away game out the way....roll on Exeter!

His whole dominance within and around the 6 yard box isn't up to much. That is the only side of his game that needs work on.

Robbie's a big bloke ....... and within reason, should use his size to go through players in that situation.
The keeper is invariably given the benefit of the doubt, and players in the way are usually deemed as obstructing the keeper.
  • To put things in perspective .....

Next week, Leeds have a tough game away at MK Dons.

Is there really anything needed to put in perspective, we are un beaten with an 6-2 -0 record shed loads of goals leading to a positive GD, playing attractive football. Surely nobody can complain about that when we have a squad built on a shoestring - only three players on the pitch yesterday cost a penny in transfer fees.

  • i think people are just a little bit disappointed to surrender a 2 goal lead, maybe a little naiveity to concede just before half time

Oh God I felt yesterday like we had massively lost, today I am thinking of the last four years and thinking wow! early days but ain't we done well.
  • I thought it was a tough 'in your face' but exciting game. I didn't feel we played badly, more that Norwich were good and the advantage we have gained from using the width in past games was denied us. I felt that we were outpaced on quite a few occasions and some of the passing was more wayward than usual. Robbie deserves some accolades for the saves he made. Nicky Bailey seemed unable to get into the game. The substitutions didn't help and there was a feel of the headless chicken mode toward the end. The fans went a bit quiet as well. Happy to take a point.

My perspective was just that yesterday we had a tough away game at Norwich.

And next week, Leeds have a tough away game at MK Dons.

    That's all.
Elated with our start. Never complained.
  • Draw was a fair result yesterday, just felt sick as McLeod should have won it and their goal should never have been allowed. Then again Norwich could have won it with an overhead kick, think it was Holt so a point is not so bad.
Undoubtedly both us and Leeds will blip so lets just concentrate on our own results and staying ahead of third. If leeds are champs and we are second come end of season that will still be great!
  • Just seen McLeod's chance on CAFC Player, not the easiest because of the angle, though looking at it a few times he should have took himself into the middle instead of going wide. Might have won a penalty and if not would have had an easier shot at goal. He's scored a couple when put through, Brentford, and Bournemouth in pre-season, but has been unlucky for both to be disallowed.

Nice work by Youga just before it, another day he'd have lost the ball. It's the sort of chance we'll create by bringing on McLeod towards the end of the game. I don't rate him that highly, but in this league doing that but scoring or winning a penalty/free kick he'll be useful.

And they have to play Liverpool on Tuesday
  • my thoughts : has Parkie really got a Plan B, when will we ever see it.

Happy with the point and as long as we win next week it's not a disaster. Average in 1st half, poor second half. Narwich were well up for it and I'm pleased that they got promotion yesterday, or at least they thought they did. Roll on next week when hopefully normal service will be resumed.

As for worrying that Leeds are at MKD ? Who cares ? It's only ourselves that can get us promotion not others.

We possibly want Leeds to win. If Leeds and us stay clear we need to keep MK Dons, Bristol R , Hudds etc at bay.
