Maybe we should have won but, as someone who expected us to give Pardew his first win and given the performance of the officials apparently, I'll settle for going back on top and remaining unbeaten.
Lot's of positives to be taken out of the game. Well done Parky and the lads.
Thanks for the updates guys. I have an awful internet connection here (not in Phuket right now) so this was great. sounds like we wuz robbed but that's without the benefit of replays. I assume the ref was not politely applauded off the pitch at the final whistle (except by Pardew maybe)
ypou have a desperate manager.... whose is despearate ... as his reutation goes up in flames..... as he burns.... like a man on fire.... as he burns ......
we may well turn over the next team because of this unjust result.....

just spoke to my brother who was in the Covered End, and pretty much confirmed what's been said here about the ref. Thought we were better overall but that it got a bit hairy in the last few minutes, Wycombe style. Reckons Sam is ok, he walked off. Also reckoned Southampton support was dismal, not a peep until their goal.
Wonder why Parky didnt shake Pardew's hand, not unhappy about it but that's quite a big snub between managers.
I reckon Chaz above calls it right. Best to get this one out of the way, and be glad we're still top.
Thanks for the updates as always lads, much appreciated.
First offside goal was, second wasnt, I sit right in line with the goal line and didnt think it was off were as the first one was easilly.
Southampton really dished out the physical side of the game but went down like a sack of when it was given back and were the worst for timewasting ive seen this season.
Sptn have the hallmarks of the team we were under pardew and i dont hold out to much hope for them, they had no invention at all.
Funniest chant today has to go to whoever started the "your not super any more"

I might have been doing these new things called skittles.... since 12.....
Unfortunately first time I've predicted right result all season. But we're not going to win them all. We'll get a few more sh** refs before the season is out. Lads kept battling despite everything and will be all the better for it.
Fair do's to Sarfampton..............they were very competitive and matched us physicaly, though not in skill or inventivness.
Two diallowed goals and we hit the post, another day we'd have won maybe...........probably a fair result in the end.
First half we were not at the races at all, players were leggy, big mistake for their goal, did not play any football that we have been playing,
2 nd half got the ball down out passed them out classed them 2nd off side goal looks very dubious, typical Pardew a team there for a good couple of goals head start fails to do so and gets punished Parky gave our boys the talking too required to get them out and playing in the 2ndhalf and we should have won,
Saints can feel lucky with a draw, fuk me their gobby knuts, well funny watching one of their fans giving it too tuna and then the OB go to warn him and he runs away like a school boy.
they are still more points from safety than they were at the start of the season with 10 points deducted, a fact that is passing them by at the minute on the 2nd half performance they will be lucky to get out of it and that would be well funny
Southamtpon came to stop us playing. They did it very well in the first half, although for all their possession they created few chances.
We got a little sloppy in the first half and stopped doing what has got us to where we are - passing the ball. When we had possession too often we tried a trick or knocked it long. Racon & Semedo were far too close together in the first half.
Parky clearly knows how to handle a half-time chat as for 40mins in the second half we battered them. They vecame a typical Pardew side, got deeper & deeper and were clueless at set plays.
First offside I can accept, it was close. 2nd - that linesman guessed. He had no idea what to give and bottled it. Burton was never offside, it looked like heran from behind his marker.
Southampton got away with murder, Harding & Hammond were at it all afternoon, lots of niggly stuff and a lot of off the ball pushing, shoving and the odd kick. Pardew had clearly spoken to his boys about Youga as Llanna was in his ear for the whole of the 2nd half - guess what, he reacted and was lucky to stay on.
Don't know who the idiot posting about Elliot not being up to it is, one word - idiot.
Racon & Semedo ran the show in the second half. Thought Burton had a good game as well. He is such a clever player.
To be honest I thought it would be a draw and at half-time I would have taken a point. 2nd half we deserved all three. Not to be, but nice to see us come out and fight our way back into a game. We'd have been beaten 2-3 last year.
As for Pardew - couldn't help himself at the end could he.......
Apparently Parky did shake his hand - in the tunnel.
[cite]Posted By: Swisdom[/cite]Anyone notice Pardew throw the ball on to the pitch to get the ref to stop it and award that drop ball!
Not seen such blatant cheating for a while - sly digs, dives, afters... Bad form Soton, very bad form
Dean Hammond is dirty barsteward. He was lucky to stay on. He simed a blatant kick at Racon in the first half (off the ball) that went un punished and then continued his antics after getting booked.
Trottman & Schneiderlin were the worst offenders in my book. They spent most of their time trying to get players booked, Trotman was chasing the linesman round telling to send off Youga during the 2nd half scuffle.
wasn't there today but Elliott has been outstanding this season and if NathanCharlton thinks otherwise then he clearly hasn't seen us play. The save at home to Brentford last week was top class and I think he commands his box well, catches cleanly, punches the ball well away from the box when he needs to and has pretty good distribution.

NathanCharlton = Darren Randolph. Fact. Saw him sneak off with his iphone to post his comments.
We didn't play as a team in the first half and paid bitterly for the poor decisions of match officials in the second. However, watching Captain Pardwash suffer 90 minutes of verbal abuse from Addicks fans more than made up for it. Bet he was a bundle of fun on the coach home.
Not surprised Harding was at it today he really is abominably average at best, when presented with a challenge he's always been shit against us. If Soton thinks Harding is one of there more reliable players then they're in for a bad season.

He very nearly got his comeuppance.
Terrible lunge at Racon in the 2nd half. Thankfully he came off much worse and looked to be struggling afterwards.
Elliot made an outsanding save in the first 5 minutes and did all that was reasonably asked.
I would like to see him take charge of the defence a little more. But he is young and he is learning all the time, it would be unfair to get on him to much.

Elliots distribution is fantastic, he started our goal with a pin point throw to Shelvey fully half the length of the pitch. On top of that he made a great save in the first 5 mins and had no chance with the goal...havn't read this thread but if there is someone criticising him after that game then they can not have been there.
First thing I would like to say is a good game imo.
I felt like we were the better side in the first half - we had more of the ball and you were reduced to long range efforts and snap shorts. The keeper did a very good save from our player in the first couple of minutes but then from my view he brought our player down? It looked like a penalty - but would have been a soft one.
Second half was a different story, you came out and played great imo - deserved to get it back to 1-1, then you scored again - I can't comment on that goal as I was up the other end but your other disallowed goal looked miles onside. Then the game changed for the final 10 minutes when we brought Jaidi on who gave us some much needed steel in the back 4. We began to attack a bit more and were very unlucky not to get a penalty in the closing stages when your defender took down Mellis just as he turned him.
Overall - Charlton had the better chances, very unlucky with that disallowed goal - Saints on the other hand had a decent amount of the ball, but we struggled to get any decent goalscoring attemps going.
I was very impressed with Racon and Sam today - Sam gave Harding a very hard time. Harding has been by far our best outfield player this season but was average at best today.
Another thing that impressed me today was the atmosphere from both sets of fans - in the first half the home ends died down a bit as your team hadn't gave you much to chant about but in the second half it was rocking and the away end died down. Especially when you sang something about Valley Road? Much better atmosphere at The Valley then Selhurst.
Another thing that suprised me was the fact that you actually supported your side and didn't let the Pardew return turn the atmosphere into a nasty one.

You been on the VB mascot?

Prob already done to death but.
Elliot was brilliant today.
Sam walked off fine.

Still, unbeaten.
Priceless :-)
