Pardew is not hated at all for his record as a PLAYER. In fact he is probably on balance remembered fondly as a player.
However his record as a MANAGER completely blemishes the good stuff so I would suggest that he is a contender for most hated Charlton FIGURE not player.
We've done pretty well for managers -principally because Curbs and Lennie lawrence both had long tenures, so there isn't much competition for most disliked/hated manager.
As for disliked players...Marcus Bent, Darren Pitcher, JFH are a long way ahead of Pardew. Pardew was at Charlton as aplayer not because he loved the club but as a useful payday at the end of his career. The type of bloke who did his job and no more and buggered off as soon as something better came along.
Think everyone has misundertood my message I thought I was the second post so thought I would throw Darren Pitcher into the ring, but Harry Potter beat me by about 30 seconds & now everyone thinks I an Questioning this selection when in fact it is my choice. As for people like Defoe he is a judas but how many first team games did he play for us again ? Unlike Mt Pitcher who played how many ?
Pitcher I now feel sorry for. Parker I'm OK about just didn't like the way he left.
Defoe is a greedy Judas but he's done what he did to us to everyone so at least it wasnt personal.
JFH I have no problem with. He didn't do that well but that wasn't all down to him but when he played well so did the team. Think he gets a lot of unfair stick for what Dowie did to the team and cos he was supposedly on lots of money which compared to the rest of the squad he wasn't.
Pardew is an egotistical idiosexual and screwed up for us big time - but it isn't worth the energy to hate him, I'd be happy to ignore him and just get on with the game on Saturday.
Cannot understand that choice either, thought despite giving us the V sign after a goal he turned out to be an inspirational player for us in the promotion year & our first year in First Division.

[cite]Posted By: LenGlover[/cite]Faye in midfield and Traore at left back?
Harsh on Faye though arguably
Why Aizlewood?
Bit like when pitcher left, when he left for Leeds he gave us a parting shot to the tune of - 'two bob outfit, glad to leave now I'm playing for a great club'.
What with that and trying to kick every Charlton player into the stands when we met them in the play offs, sort of cemented my view of him.

Definite
On the flip side of this would weaver be the most hated player to then end up playing for Charlton?

whilst I think Defoe is a fantastic player plus the fact I've never met him nor know that much about him....I still can't help but despise him.
Allegedly wore a Mickey Mouse badge and when asked why said "because it's a Mickey Mouse club, innit".

I know I despise Dowie more than Pardew.

What the boss man said....

Yep, we really need to move on from this.
Agreed. If it was the worst 11 why not R. Milne, Small & El Kalamity.
Agree with Alan Mullery as hated manager.
Then he went to Palace and wore a "shower of dickheads" badge and when he was asked why he said...
