I'd agree with Ipswich play-off although I was in the Jimmy Seed that night so may have a different perspective from most others.

EDIT: not necessarily noisiest but "Valley Floyd Road" during the Spurs relegation game was one of the best crowd moments I've experienced at The Valley even though the football was a disaster!
  • Long time ago but remember the promotion game against Preston in the 70's being extremely loud, at least in the Covered End, when we won 3-1 to go up. We were one down and missed a penalty - what a night that was!
  • [cite]Posted By: CH4RLTON[/cite]What about the loudest youve ever heard us away, Bristol Away in the cup in 90's was pretty loud also the Port Vale away when board paid for the coaches.

The 4-3 game at villa was pretty loud from what I remember.

Although I remeber Dowies first game in charge, away to west ham. When Bent scored the pen the noise really was defening!

Shame about the rest of the game!

Same here.Got there a bit late and could here the crowd from near the A2!
  • Sheff Wed in cup when they were Prem beat them 2-0 the covered end was rocking that day!!

Their tango man ran into the covered end right at the end of the game if my memory serves me right?
  • Strange choice here for me - though I think the Ipswich playoff game and the last minute equaliser are the loudest I've heard it, I remember the whole North going mental in the second half of a night game against Tranmere during the promotion season - went in 2-0 down and had played gash - Curbishley put a massive rocket up their arses at half time and we went on to win 3-2 - the whole of that second half from start to finish was a sustained wall of noise.

I remember that one. Everyone around me was slagging off Curbs for bringing Steve Brown as a sub. "We're 2-0 down and Curbishley brings on a defender blah blah blah" Browny geed them up and the other sub, salako, got a steady stream of crosses in.

    Inspired management!

[cite]Posted By: Spanish[/cite]3-0 Chelsea - Selhurst Park ! Mortimers goal got a fair response !

Cheer for Jimmy Melrose last gasp winner against Leeds first leg at same sheite hole.

Poss giving away my age a little here ! Have to say, despite them being bad times at Charlton, I remember a lot of those games with fondness. Anyone here go to Man City at home when we won 5-0 on a Sunday ??

One of my biggest CAFC regrets. I got dragged to my Aunt's house for a birthday party by my folks (I was about 14 at the time) and missed that 5-0 game - I think it was in December wasn't it? I did not see us win again till about late March!
I think it was Boxing Day, or the weekend between Christmas and New Year. I can't recall much about the game, but do remember getting the SLP with a big picture of Colin Walsh celebrating (he scored twice, yes?) on the back page a couple of days afterwards.
  • West Ham in the league cup around 1976 was pretty awesome 36,000 + crowd. Latterly the last game in the Prem....the only seats we could get were West Upper right by the the Spuds fans.....the whole ground was really noisy...and I was sooooo proud of us that night.....I dont think the Spuds knew what to make of us...

Ipswich play off...yep I got emotional for that...it was another awesome match.

Away...Manure...10,000 of us singing at half time.....proper away day...huge support. Ipswich in the 80's and Wolves in the 70's

I thought we were brilliant the other week at Orient too

    Never a froooooowwwwwwwn...
  • I am going for the Ipswich play off too. Walking down the steps in the east as they were kicking off. The noise in the ground was immense, from all sides. Poxy programmes sold out too that night
  • Have to go with the ipswich game and the first game back against pompey. Away man u in the cup Blackburn away we won 2 0 with Leaburn and Lee scoring. It rain we were doing the conga in the rain and some run on the pitch when we scored our second.
  • I would say the last game in the premier when judas scored.
  • For away games, it's a long time ago but the 1985 cup game at White Hart Lane will take some beating regaring noise.

At home, agree with the Ipswich P/O game, but there was a night against Brighton around 1977 when we won 4-3, I stood in the covered end and went home deaf
  • Ipswich, yeah but what about when Brownie got sent off against, Blackburn was it? and we all went ape and threw the brochures onto the field. Got behind the team for the rest of the game and managed a draw I think.
  • Leicester. Ian Walker stood leaning against the post reading one of the brochures while Brownie was carried off.
  • Mine was a game against leicester too, the one at upton park. think we won 2-0 and it was my birthday so a few extra pints were the order!
I think we stopped them getting automatic promo in that game and there were giant balloons on the pitch.
  • ManU, 3-3. FACT!
    :-)
  • Liverpool 2002 ten year Valley anniversary was pretty loud! And a great game!

I was ballboy.. oops. Gave the ball to John Arne Riise though, ungrateful bigger cleaned it with his top after I passed it to him. :-(
Fantastic atmo though, was right near the scouse fans and could hear both sets of fans loud and clear.

I vote the WH game for recent games, Chelsea one wasn't too bad either.

I was over for that one, and the ManU 3-3 game, too.
Great memories ... onward and upward to making more.
  • I bet the Huddersfield 7-6 was pretty loud....

    Ill ask me dad.....
  • For me it's got to be the Ipswich game in the play off, when Shaun Newton scored the place was electric. Away from home I would have to say the Coventry game in the FA Cup and also when we beat palace 1-0 we took 7000 fans there including Martin Pringle
