the loudest the valley has ever been?

apart from the who concerts, what is the loudest people can remember the valley being.

didn't start going until early 80's and stood on the east terrace. seemed to remember pompey matches always being a loud atmosphere.

since we've returned, i think the 4-0 against west ham must be up there.

  • Chelsea Boxing Day ?
When we scored our 4th the Upper Covered End shook !
  • ipswich play-off?
  • The last season that we were promoted seemed pretty good overall. The ground really filled up up in the new year. One game that seemed really loud was the Friday match against Hudderfield even though we lost.

The Valley seemed noisier before they built the second tier on the Covered End even though we only had 18 - 20k in the ground.
  • Agree with ThreadKiller - the Ipswich play-off game.
  • Defo Ipswich play off- without a west stand roof as well. The whole ground was absolutely rocking...

Possibly the end of the Manure 3-3 draw might have got close

Yeah..........when that Robbo equaliser flew in it did go ballistic for a few minutes or so.
  • last saturday with my pals gorgeous and woodsey believe they are loud ask paddy powell and mark penfold.
  • Easily the loudest I've been at was the Ipswich Play-Off game, that was brilliant.
  • When David Whyte scored the freekick winner against Brentford in the cup it got rather noisy.
  • Agree about the Ipswich game..

VFR when playing Spurs and getting relegated was a 'hairs on the back of your neck' moment, possibly the loudest that song has been sung.

The Sha-La-La post match chorus was pretty loud.

It's not often you see the ground still full at full time and all stands baiting the Palace in unison.

  • The loudest with the upper tier added to the Covered End was probably the 4-4 with West Ham.

The 4-1 Against Forest was quite loud as well, as I've mentioned before, I missed the playoff semi-final.
  • I'd probably go with the Ipswich game as well but I believe 2-2 draw against Newcastle after our first promotion deserves a special mention - when Martin Pringle equalised in the 90th minute everyone was going mental.
  • When the spuds relagated us from the Prem, was pretty noisey and considering the circumstances very comendable too.

knew it was you tube somewhere, I was in the east stand and even we were singing :)
  • What about the loudest youve ever heard us away, Bristol Away in the cup in 90's was pretty loud also the Port Vale away when board paid for the coaches.
  • Ipswich play-off for me - even without the west stand roof

  • Maine Road - Midweek 2-2.

Excellent support for a midweek around 850 - 1000. Great singing that night. Got a little naughty too so we were kept in for around 30 mins. Steve Jones brace !
  • Things can only get better......

Half time at United in the cup - 10,000 of us bouncy bouncying to it.

liverpool at home lisbie hattrick - loudest i've f****** cheered at a game.

ipswich play off can't be beaten IMO the whole gaff was rocking for 90 minutes and think it shocked the Ipshit mob. couldn't hardl speak for 2 days after.

lets not forget Pompey game the atmosphere that dday was electric for obvious reason

the leicester programme throwing game - after browny was sent off was pretty raucous as well

    As for away Arsenal 4-2

bradford away midweek in the cup when about 200 of us absolutely battered their keeper for 90 minutes Tomlinson i think his name was

Leicester away at filbert st midweek -when we won

everton away when Morts scored one of his specials

utd away when we got relegated

any southend game have been good
  • 3-0 Chelsea - Selhurst Park ! Mortimers goal got a fair response !

Cheer for Jimmy Melrose last gasp winner against Leeds first leg at same sheite hole.

Poss giving away my age a little here ! Have to say, despite them being bad times at Charlton, I remember a lot of those games with fondness. Anyone here go to Man City at home when we won 5-0 on a Sunday ??

One of my biggest CAFC regrets. I got dragged to my Aunt's house for a birthday party by my folks (I was about 14 at the time) and missed that 5-0 game - I think it was in December wasn't it? I did not see us win again till about late March!

  • Ipswich P/O

    Southampton (First game in premiership)

    Cheslea (Boxing Day)

    West Ham (Curbs Return)

    Palace (2-0)
  • Ipswich play off.
    Chelsea 4-2
    Man Utd 3-3
    West ham 4-0
And more recently the 2-0 against Palace seemed pretty noisy because most of the covered end had been in the pub since lunchtime.
